Once he got himself fully into the side around the October > Dec period, he was our best player in that NPC season. He got an injury which derailed the rest of his season though unfortunately. He was like a new signing at the start though.

Yeah, for Fonte that season in the NPC was a little odd for him. I was always a little confused by his struggles at parts of that season, as he was the one player who had built in technical ability, very good composure and reading of the game...yet it seemed to desert him at times in that season. Jos seemed to come out with the higher rep. but to be honest, the ''better footballer'' was always going to be the stronger player in the PL and I'm glad he regained his composure to become a Portuguese international.

Amazing result for NI. Truly stunning stuff really, probably the toughest away in the group and they've won it. I reckon they should aim for the play-off at least?

A couple of the responses in this thread are just pointless, there's no need for them. Stop trying to WUM people. I agree with Batman's post, I'm not sure why people can't see the point he's making? Are they dim or something? Basically, prior to our hell December run - we've got a run of matches which we can try and pick-up a decent amount of points in, which will at least allow us to be comfortable and not looking over our shoulder a great deal! A good example of that is Chambers. Here is a guy who played a few times for the Under-19s, jumped straight over the Under-21s and went into the first team. That is a great pat on the back for our development system. I can't believe Woy said that. What in gods earth is up with him? He cannot see the wood from the trees to save his life, stop waffling and tell it as it is. If he was still here this year, he'd be in the U21's. And I think you'll find that it was Southampton who developed him, not the England FA ****ty setup.

To be fair to Milner, he's been playing really well for City. He'd be in my England team at this moment in time. That doesn't really say much about the quality of the squad though, does it? Chambers playing just strikes of ''He plays for one of the top 4, therefore he will play''.

This is exactly the reason why International breaks really bug me, just a complete and utter waste of time. The slightest bit of interest and he's even overlooked for an Arsenal squad player - he was a standby member in the first place for christ sake. Roll on Sunderland at home, enough of this international crap already.

Unfortunately, if that ever does happen, he'd be gone long before he reached near that level! Mega-Mega money for us though, if that happens! Very tidy player though, really believe he reads the game well and his movement is electric.

What is the definition of world class these days? In my definition there are lots of half decent players in the England team, but no one remotely world class - not even close to any degree. That term is flushed around so much it does my frigging head in, and it makes it sound as if they had to leave...to get international football..so they could continue to train with such world class players, when in fact...some of the players we have here are better than what England have to choose from. Go figure.

Nothing to do with being fickle at all. Not sure why you can't see that. He is respected in terms of his playing ability, you cannot belittle that and say we're better off without him - because we're not. The issue I have, and 99% of others have, is the complete and utter PR disasters he continues to have. He dug a good hole, which he's continuing to turn into a crater. All throughout the summer it was PR disaster after PR disaster, pictured taking photos with L'pool fans at the WC, saying that seeing ''lallana'' will change the lives of the favela kids. And don't get me started on his Liverpool press release upon his joining, that was a complete PR mess and that created this hole in the first place, which was dug a bit deeper with his **** poor fan-kissing attempt in the Echo. Unfortunately it seems as if he has acted like a complete moron head throughout the entire process, together with a serious lack of PR advice - and that's what gets our backs up.
