Hate reading what I've read on twitter, he's being totally disrespected by his 'own' fans. I know he had times here where he wasn't effective, but you've got bear with him. I do have a funny feeling though that with us and Lambert it was a case of right place, right time. I cannot see him having a similar impact elsewhere, and I could see him back here on loan in a season or so.

Not entirely sure I'd put myself in the 'excited' camp for a loan deal, after what he waffled last week about being given the green light to invest £70m!, but it's a start! And a good player tbf.

I don't think he's that good tbh. I hope we sign 2 CB's and Yoshida becomes the 4th choice.

He was on our list before this window, so I think the club have just looked at this as an opportunity to 'acquire' him in a different sort of deal. I think he's a good player, one I'm looking forward to watching, and one I feel will add some real competition to the entire midfield area. I'll be honest though, I'm a little concerned that we've lost a fair few deals in the last few weeks. Mid-week last week we had 'club sources' saying they hoped to sign 2/3 players by the end of the week, and that was after Bertrand. And then we had Koeman saying he hopes to get 2/3 over the line at the weekend.....and our ITK sources on here saying it will likely be Monday though. But we're now into Tuesday and we've not even confirmed Taider yet....and that's a pretty straight forward one in terms of financial outlay! I'm a little bit nervous, but I'm just hoping the slowness is down to this time of year......and not that we're just missing out on the deals we want. I hope and pray the Samaras one is nothing but waffle, as this wouldn't help cure my fears....

We probably need 2, to be honest. As has been mentioned, I'd have had a new CB on my shopping list even before Lovren was sold. Got a feeling the club will just get one and be done with it though, so we'll be in the same position as last year - and seriously hoping that the new CB is of a decent standard.

I think he did say that, actually. Way back before anyone left.....he gave the interview outside one of the directors boxes @ SMS iirc. So, based on the other output from that interview, I'm not quite sure I'll believe him on that point just yet...

Hypo, can I ask honestly - what is it you want from Southampton? I remember you being the vocal one on all the anti-cortese threads, but now he's gone, you still seem to be incredibly vocal on anything to do with the board. We lead an unsustainable life under Cortese, no matter how anyone tries to spin it. He was criticised for losing contacts/losing signings. I'll give you that the new guys aren't exactly digging up any tree's right now, but I'm fairly sure that things will look much better come September in terms of squad. This stage of the transfer window is nutritiously always one of the quietest periods. I'm not buying the fact that all we'll be doing is exclusively targeting loans, there will be some big signings in and amongst our additions - of that I'm sure, we just have to show a little bit of patience. There's no point in criticising a lack of signings as yet, as there's still time. If come the 1st September, all we have are a couple of loanies and that Socetto bloke (sp) playing regularly, then everyone can meltdown as much as they want.

I'm not entirely sure what the relevance is of this.
