It's not an asset strip. If it was an asset strip we'd have replaced Lallana with Isgrove and Rickie with Gallagher - but we've bought 2 players for £20m. That's not an asset strip. I'm still pretty confused about what the motives are though, an incredibly unprecedented situation.

To be honest, hanswhatshisface opened the door. You do not make a public statement to say that we're in a difficult financial situation. The players will listen, and so will monitoring clubs. It seems as if we are/were in a very difficult financial situation, as it's the only sense I can make of these sales. Callum is an odd one, seemed happy enough here and he won't be first choice at Arsenal - just another Carl Jenkinson, occasionally used. Very odd move for him. I wonder if the club have actually forgotten to say no? or are they actually welcoming these bids to clear our massive debt?

I heard that and my ears *****ed up too! We now need 2/3 marquee signings, not 1, 2 or 3. We've pocketed an insane amount of money, so now we can reinvest it. If we don't, then we've clearly got some insanely bad financial issues. The £18m or so we've spent so far isn't even touching what we've received in transfer fees.

What we learnt from tonight: Tadic is pretty handy, works his arse off. Lloyd Isgrove is very talented Pelle has some great movement and touch. We play with much more width. Targett looks a prospect. 2nd half team a bit of a disorganised mess at times. Mayuka is still pretty damn hopeless.

Good player, good sign up. Will be a big part of our season.

I think it's hard to get carried away, or overall negative - whatever happens in a friendly. They're not competitive enough and the quality is much lower, BUT...you do get a gimpse of what the players and the system can offer, and I think Tadic and Pelle will be huge threats for us. Pelle likes to get involved and seems very mobile, quite quick as well. Tadic just oozes class.

Like the way we're still pressing high, Pelle looks like Lambert MK2 and Targett looks like an able replacement for Shaw.

Gaston is doing ok, looks class in possession as usual but does seem to wander into trouble and loose the ball. He has to cut that out of his game if he's to be a success in the PL.

Pelle and Tadic both dragged on a bit, and at the time people were moaning about how long it was taking us to sort that. Looking back now it seems as if it was sorted quickly, but the reality is that it was a fair few weeks of will he won't he.

NickG, what are you on about here??? 2 first team, nailed on players. First names on the team sheet as it currently stands. Also, whoa re the 'most posters'' who don't want to see Fonte in the side? Why do people say stuff like this to make their point sound more dramatic, it's literately just 0.0000000001% of the fan base who has said they don't want Fonte in the side - probably Saint Richmond. At the end of the day, we've already lost too many important players - albeit for good fee's. We now cannot afford to lose other important players due to poor contract situations. We do actually need a team! And at the moment, Fonte and Cork are damn critical to us. There some things you can paint a positive outlook to, but your post is literately clinging onto the tiniest little bits of thread.
