Injuries will take their toll eventually. We've had a good start, but it really isn't going to last as we don't have the depth. We're 2 injuries away from Jos and Fox in the 11, that's enough for us to start losing lots of games. I'm enjoying this as is everyone at the mo, but we're not really involved in any sort of title race - in fact I don't think the title race even starts till the new year. We're just having a really good start, just as WBA did last season.

That Arsenal/Man Utd game was utter dross. Always the same when so called ''big teams'' come up together. Such a non-event after all the build up.
-
Performance of the weekend from Krul. 90mins now, still 0-1 to Newcastle. Looks like we'll be staying top 4 for the international break.
-
If there's ever a year to ''break up'' the top 4 - this could be the one. Anyone can really be anyone this year.
-
These 2 games will be the hardest either side have faced this year, that will be pretty much guaranteed. If that's enough for us to win - who knows. Both sides have got players who can pull something out of nothing, so we'd need an element of luck too.

Himself and Wiltshire will be the England CM in 2018. He's that good.
-
Had a bad one yesterday, but it's easy to forget that he's still bloody young. His presence on the pitch is as such, he looks a lot older than he actually is! He will make the little rickets every now and then whilst he's maturing, but I think we've got one hell of a CM here.

The best 45 mins I can ever remember watching at SMS. For all us younguns (younger than 30 anyway!) we need to enjoy this, as it's quite easily the best saints team in my life time. A truly brilliant side, and you can't even say it's full of players over achieving either. There are genuine players right down the spine who would walk into any other club in England, in my opinion. They're young, will carry on improving and they're the right mentality. Gone are the days of selling, now we can sit back and enjoy a team of home grown stars. I've got a feeling we may be on the brink of something quite extraordinary in the modern game, which will make the world go ''WTF''.
-
Trying not to be over confident, but I reckon we can go there and ruffle a few feathers. They're not playing great this year, whereas we know our game inside out. Good opportunity to visit them.

The guy has bulked up in the summer, he looks much stronger and he's also discovered a yard of pace I didn't know he had in him.. An incredible talent, that's one of of us. Modern day MLT for sure.
-
Spurs look shambolic. If Newcastle really want this, they could get a couple here. Spurs look a little ''round pegs, square holes'' this year. Trying to fit all the new players in at once, that's why loads of new signings may be exciting in the boring summer months, but it's not a particularly good policy for success.

BT Sport to show Champions League and Europa League football from 2015
S-Clarke replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
This is a huge game changer really. Massive voids in the Sky schedules, that they'll somehow need to fill. Reckon on the back of this, football league clubs will get a bit more $$$? As Sky shuffle to fill the schedule, and broadcast a couple of FL Midweek games in the CL places. Not much of a competition I guess, but a positive in the sense that the lower league clubs could benefit on the back of this. -
We're pretty good at this fan PR stuff aren't we.
-
I remember watching this a few weeks back. Some nice bits from his time at saints, and there are bits from Hew Jennings and George Burley. To be fair, it gives us quite a nice bit of coverage.

I'm with Colin on this one, I think JWP is just pure class. Ozzes class with every touch, destined to be a regular international.
-
Would expect him to be a regular starter for England in a few years too. Himself and Wiltshire in the midfield would be quite handy.
-
It was mutually agreed between Southgate and Hodgson apparently. Hodgson was going to call up shaw, and we'd have had 4 in the squad - but Southgate wanted his best players available for the competitive qualifiers, which is fair enough I guess. Wouldn't expect JWP is far away from a senior call up either. In fact, probably in the same boat as Shaw.

It's great news, a pretty historic and proud day to be a Southampton fan, that's for sure. We're riding on the crest of a wave at the moment, it's been a long time since my club has had such an important impact in the world/international scene, and I don't think it's going to wear off either. People will know that I'm a fan of Jay Rodriguez, but I think he's English class. Have said all along that he will play for England, and I fully hope that he gets his opportunity in the next 2 games. Lallana is no surprise though, he was nailed on to be in the squad. The best English attacking midfielder in the PL right now and I would fully expect him to start too. A little surprised to see Lambo still in there, but it shows that he's done enough to edge himself into the squad based on his previous displays. Got a feeling that when Carroll's fit he's out though, which is a complete travesty as he's about 10x better.
-
It's still the Europa league though.
-
Eh? It does the last time I looked...

Going by some of the, what I'd call seriously OTT reactions, it seems that some people have been waiting for us to fail so they can rant about our so called issues. I'm disappointed as I wanted to win this, thought it was a decent chance. But in the grand scheme of things, we've got a league game against Hull which we can win to potentially go 2nd. Long may that league form continue. I hope this isn't the start of a slump though.
-
His crossing and consistency of delivery has a certain David Beckham ring to it. I've not seen a player put it on the plate every, single, time as often as JWP does. He doesn't need to beat a man, he can whip it in from 30 yards onto their forehead. time and time again. It's been a long time since we've had a decent deliverer of the ball, and boy we have a good one now.

For a left back, Fox has quite an odd allergy to playing that position. Memories of Oliver Barnard in his constantly out of position performances. It's like he's allergic to the line, as he's never, ever anywhere near their wide man. Always acres of spaces, it's bizarre. We're 1 injury away from him being exposed in the PL, quite worrying. Hope we get a new LB in January.
