These posts remind me of last year, and even the year before. West Ham were made out to be this unbeatable winning machine and they would overhaul us for sure, but we pipped them to it and were better than them over the course of the year. Same with Huddersfield and P'boro in L1, it was absoloutley nailed on that they would keep winning and we would lose lots of games. But it didn't happen, we held our nerve against a Huddersfield onslaught - it has to be said, but that run-in took nerves of steel from our players. I think the last 2 seasons and the pressure we've had to endure is a benefit to us this year, I don't think we've got players who hide away in the background - that's why I'm not worried, as I think they'll all come to the forefront when they need to and they'll prove who is best at the end of the day. I think they're a little guilty of complacency in the WBA game, and they probably know it deep down. The Spurs performance was much better and no one hid away, we took a top 4 team and gave them a real game on Saturday. I take positives from that display, as many people were predicting a complete mauling, but actually they didn't deserve to win it. We needed a response to show that we're still alive and aware of the situation, and we got it in my opinion.

He has been complete dross in the last few games, not even involved in an attacking way. Touch is poor, movement is static, he's not holding it up that well. But all strikers - all players - go through spells like this, I think he's done enough for us in the last few years to be awarded a little damp spell, although it's frustrating it's come when it has! But as they say, cream always rises to the top. He'll get an important goal for us in the next 2 games, I can feel it.

2nd from last game of last season rings loudly...! Middlesborogh weren't even a decent team, but I felt we struggled under the pressure in that game. That early goal should have set the tone if we're honest. I think we'll be alright on Sunday, we have a decent record this year against teams in and around us - especially away from home. (Reading, QPR, Villa) etc. -
I think we get your point. Bore off.

Nah, he's out for sure. Although he's pretty ****, so not sure if him missing is actually a blessing for Sunderland.
-
Stoke give a masterclass in how not to play football, every week.

Cattermole, Fletcher, Sessengen, Gardner

Wigan need a win, this is their win or bust game. The pressure may be too much. A draw or defeat and it's curtains for them. IMO.
-
Wow, that's 90 mins i'll never get back. What a load of dross. No quality on show what so ever. If we can't pickup at least 2 points from the available 6 against those 2 sides, then something is wrong.
-
Now done to 10 men, this is going very well.
-
How pathetically bad is Mclean by the way? Would look out of his depth in L2.
-
Sunderland must have the most predictable team in the premier league. There's just nothing to them. Just plain dull.
-
I don't think it changes it either way, to be honest. If Sunderland win tonight, then by the time they play us they're possible still only 2 points clear...and are away at Spurs on the final day. So they'll still need to win and probably ''have'' to win. If they lose tonight, it plunges a team below us into even more trouble than we are - with only 2 games left. Can only be a positive.
-
Totally agree. On the whole, our set peice deliver this year has been woeful.

Not sure what's bad about that trousers??

Would love to see Yeovil in the championship, just for the old romantic in me.
-
Good start to the game. Nice corner, and a good goal.
-
If the results pan out as people are ''expecting them'' to, then Swansea could end up a couple of points clear of relegation. It's ridiculously tight.
-
Stop quoting Alpine. The reason he posts more when we lose is that he posts to make people bite, very sad and very weird, but if we all just ignored him, he'd shuffle off to the place he was hiding during our 6 game unbeaten run. He doesn't deserve the air time he gets.

I dunno, got a funny feeling for Swansea. The fact is, that after their amazing season, they'll be only 5 points off the drop if Wigan win. 5 points. It's insane. They won't go down, but 5 points isn't a great deal. They want a top 10 finish and letting Wigan win will most likely mean they'll finish bottom half and near relegation, not a great preparation. They're without Michu, but they're a good side. It's a tougher one for Wigan as all the world is looking at them, everything is on this one game for them. They've created an expectation based on their previous end-of-season exploits (they had better players then, though) I'm pretty certain that they need to win this to survive, if they don't I can't see a way out for them. That sort of pressure can do some weird things. I don't think Wigan are good enough or strong enough to win 3 on the bounce, prove me wrong, but I think they'll come unstuck to a collective sigh of relief from the bottom half of the PL. I don't think i'm being arrogant i'm just looking at how Wigan have been over the last 4 years. Absolute dross. They're got a weaker squad this year than they've, ever, ever had - add to that their injuries. I'm pretty confident to be honest, I think Swansea are light years ahead of them quality wise, and the points gap just isn't a fair reflection. -
Completely taken out of context. That quote was from a long, long time ago and the article is based on absolutely nothing other than a 2+2=5 calculation by the tabloid.
-
Jeez. This article is just put together by a tabloid, there are no direct quotes in it and there's nothing to suggest that we're even anywhere near being interested in him. Yet somehow that's spun by the geniuses (good old Richmond) on here to make it look as if MP and NC aren't focused, brilliant. I don't get football fans, especially a fair few who post on here. The fact is he won't win, because we have some know it all idiots on these forums who would be so much better than him and NC. Give it a go, would love to see it.

Great post. Still think all will be sorted by mid-week. Fancy Swansea to become the most liked team in the land come Wednesday morning.
