  1. Yeah they need to stop the ridiculous comparisons, I've now seen the same quote several times that yesterday was the BIGGEST EVER ATTENDANCE AT A EUROS (MENS OR WOMENS) with the clear inference being look more people came to watch this than the mens!! But in reality the mens game was oversubscribed by millions with prices 10x the price of the women's final, all PR really. It was a brilliant occasion yesterday and will help boost the women's game no doubt , some of those players will also get lucrative sponsorship deals and I'm sure domestic crowds will increase but not by much. I agree with others don't let the Premier league run it, all the focus would be on the big name clubs , it's already bad enough allowing Man Utd straight into the top division to take advantage of their franchise and global fan base (fast track to bigger TV deals)
  2. He started moaning about Arsenal not having away allocations and having to be a member of every club to go when obviously you can just turn up and get in to any fixture you want
  3. Tickets reasonably priced as well, Cat 3 for the final (behind goals) was £15 adults, £7.50 u16s.
  4. I actually met him at the game yesterday and tried to pronounce his name, he laughed and said just call me Ketchup and let all your mates on Saints Web know as well
  5. Need to watch it back again but I thought Ketchup looked a bit shaky and was caught out for their first goal, like the look of Big Joe Aribo gets himself involved in the game will be a fans favourite, Bazunu looks ok but not sure I've seen enough to say he's ready to start, Mara looked completely out of the game but only had 45 mins, one for the future perhaps but he didn't seem to trouble the Spaniards defence at all.
  6. Even with Richarlison being suspended their forward line looks formidable, always expect Kane and Son to do well against us. Spurs 4- 1 Saints, with us being 2 down quite early on.
  7. I remember that one, was in January wasn't it during German winter break, don't think they were expecting so many to turn up!
  8. Despite being Champions league semi finalists Villarreal not really a big name with star players to attract the casual fans. Would have thought having a chance to see some of our new exciting players might have drummed up a bit more interest.
  9. Not many , Itchen pretty much sold out although hospitality will have loads empty and blocks right behind dugouts are blocked off. Kingsland closed. Chapel and Northam open but not many sold. Probably about 10k - 12k with a decent walk up. Should have made it £1 for kids.
  10. I can't see crowds staying consistently high at St Mary's once novelty wears off, just my opinion but better to try to get 800-1000 at Totton and feel quite full than have 1500 at St Mary's in a soulless empty ground , I'm sure they'll like using the Premier league changing rooms etc though.
  11. Agree, going to need our experienced players to step up when needed, although last night reminded me the likes of KWP, Romeu, JWP, S. Armstrong even big Joe Aribo could provide some decent experience across the pitch, all used to big games.
  12. Agree with that, sloppy in possession at times and Monaco could have punished us more first half but overall a good win. From where you were sat did it look like any of the new coaching team were getting more involved? One negative - why on earth did the club have so many stewards guarding the Itchen North spending the whole game jumping on anyone who stood , its a small area that creates some atmosphere with thousands of empty seats elsewhere for those who wanted to sit, seems like the club just want to cause trouble as they're already trying to break up that area by restricting sales of season tickets, shame to lose one of the few areas that actually creates some atmosphere
  13. That's my thoughts, any news on when Perraud might be back? I've written off Spurs away but could do with some points against Leeds and that's only a couple of weeks away now
  14. I agree, price it like they do for women's games, should be £1 for kids, £5 adults, looks like we'll have 7 or 8k there tomorrow night , train strike won't help but shame really
  15. They don't seem to have thought through these sanctions though have they? Seem to be hurting us more and just revealing how reliant many countries are on Russian energy, particularly Germany, this coming winter could be about to get much worse. Back to Sunak, I'm not sure he'll win and to be honest it's not a great time to become PM, economic turmoil caused by factors mainly out of our control going to be a tough job.
  16. Of course all "proper" BAME vote Labour don't they. Regarding his parents, not being "wealthy" and being working class aren't the same thing, they were clearly educated and aspirational.
  17. Is she related to Graeme Murty? Another Saints connection!. I'm fairly sure his wealth is not completely dependent on marrying her.
  18. They did, they were not wealthy when they arrived in England but they were educated, a real "land of opportunity " success story. He genuinely grew up walking distance from The Dell, that's a proper Saints connection regardless of his politics
  19. Grew up walking distance from The Dell and a member of the junior Saints, a proper mush
  20. We don't usually bother entering this competition do we? Seems a bit pointless but if away fans are allowed might go along
  21. Everton fans are protesting at the club ownership I think for Saints you need to put into context alongside our end of season run of form. A winning side feels like a distant memory, Monaco and Villarreal could be tough depending what sides they put out, will be a shame if we go into the new season with no wins. Doesn't look like many tickets sold for Monaco, for anyone who travels by train worth checking the train strike timetable don't think there's any trains from Southampton after the match
  22. Everyone I know is boycotting it due to the lack of diversity in the England team
  23. Good post agree with that, appalling run of form at the end of last season and as things stand our starting XI could be weaker, if that form continues I think Ralph could be on thin ice. Leeds at home seems a big game already in Matchday 2.
  24. Does anyone know when the dvd of the game will be available in the club megastore?
  25. Where's Ward Prowse? Looks an absolutely terrible line up that on paper, maybe we're saving ourselves for Watford at the weekend
