If you can regularly score more than 9pts on Ken Bruce's PopMaster, then Radio 2 is for you.

I'd happily pay a couple of quid for a window cleaning app. It'd save me £8 every 8 weeks.

This is your problem! The update needs the latest version of iTunes, so that's probably all it is. I have had the different USB lead/ port thing before - it's to do with the USB timings, and something as simple as a lead being pulled out of your pc/mac or not inserted fully initially can cause it. Always worth removing all ISB leads and restarting sometimes, but hopefully your issue is just an outdated version of iTunes.

FreeSat HD+ Foxsat box and someone else's Sky Login to watch their full package on my tv or iPad works for me

I've never heard of him before. I had no idea why they were clapping. I have just Googled him and discovered he had Leukaemia, but it's in remission. I still don't understand why they were clapping for him ate that moment in the match, why we would have known that, or why we should have joined in. Tossers.

Put it into DFU mode. With the iPhone on, or at whatever screen you're stu k on: Press and hold both the Power button and the Home button at the same time > keep them both held down and keep them held down until the phone powers down and then comes back on again > when the Apple logo comes back, let go of the Power button, but keep holding the Home button down > Let go only when the 'Connect to iTunes' icon is displayed > then connect to iTunes, which will detect the phone in DFU mode and prompt you to restore.

It's called evolution. Do you think Samsung, Nokia and the rest won't bring new handsets out either?

I've now noted that you use a Galaxy Note, so I can no longer take you seriously. Let's not take this thread off-topic though.

There's no need for personal abuse. I was highlighting how excellent I've found the satnav / turn by turn capabilities of Maps from the testing I've done of it. The mechanics of it are actually better than the TomTom app I've used. Like I said, the place searching and POI searching is currently pants; but if you want to use Maps as a satnav replacement and can use the post-code or drop a pin in the location, it is superb. The mapping will obviously have to be improved for many locations and the POI database needs sorting, but once that's up to scratch it'll be good, as the app itself is actually really good. FYI, I rarely use a satnav (and never in Southampton or on the majority of my routes) and if anything I lose myself money by always preferring shorter/cheaper routes for my customers (although I give them the option if there is a big difference between shorter & cheaper or faster & further/more expensive). Also, you can try to be offensive by calling what I do 'menial' if you want, but I will just smirk as you have no idea how much (more) money I make from my small fleet of cars compared to when I was an Insurance Broker and Insurance Claims Business Owner. The fact that I have far less (virtually zero) stress, have completely flexible working hours and can work around my life instead of living around my work like before are added bonuses. I wouldn't change my 'menial' business for anything.

Need help with name of a bar (now For Your Eyes Only)

No, it was where FYEO is now. Lidls used to be Brannigans (a complete hole). It was boarded up and empty for ages from around 1993ish, not long after a 'one punch, fall back, hit head and die' incident. -
That looks like my first attempt at taking a panoramic photo on iOS6 !

In addition to this lock screen display, if you are on the home screen or in any other app, a banner appears at the top of the screen to give you similar pop up directions shortly before your required turn.

How hard is it just to take care of your device instead of paying a fortune for insurance just to give you a licence to not care for it and be a clumsy oaf?

Need help with name of a bar (now For Your Eyes Only)

Reflex closed on Tuesday night and is indeed being refurbished and reopening as Pop World. The old 'Chicago Rock' has been called Voodoo Lounge for some time- probably the best part of 18mths or so. The FYEO site was indeed named Below Bar before Bar Med too. I 'm glad someone else is as old as me to be able to remember!! -
Agreed, it's not great that there are lots of places and POIs that it either doesn't find or locates incorrectly. However, those are all issues that can be overcome and improved upon as they're just database driven. It's pretty cr@p at locating places based on names etc. What I have just found, however, is how brilliant the mechanics of the app itself are. I am currently at Gatwick Airport, having just dropped two SFC WAGs here. Before setting off, I thought I'd test the satnav capabilities of Maps. If you search 'Gatwick Airport' it finds nothing; If you search 'Gatwick Airport London' it finds some business not very close to the airport! That is a database issue, but shocking nonetheless. You could google search your destination address to find the postcode (which Maps finds no problem). Instead I just dropped a pin on the map on top of Gatwick and tapped 'Directions To Here'. The usual 3 route options were offered - which would be the average person's normal routes - but not my preferred route through Pulborough. I exited the app and forgot about it until later in the journey when I tapped into Maps as I passed through Pulborough; The app rerouted me very quickly, the animation is very smooth (particularly when you make turns and go round roundabouts, unlike TomTom) and positioned me bang on when passing junctions (unlike TomTom which always seems to lag so you physically pass a turning before it is displayed on screen.) I was impressed and then just pressed the lock button as I didn't need to follow it. Next came probably the best feature I have EVER seen on ANY app and brilliantly executed:- When the screen is locked and blank: as long as you left the route running and didn't 'End' it before pressing the lock button, when you reach 0.5miles from your next turn, exit or roundabout etc., the lock screen displays the map with your turn instructions, counts down the distance and stays on and moving despite still being in lockscreen mode (it still has the unlock slider 'ghosted' at the bottom, in case you want to unlock and open the app fully). This stays lit and displayed for about 5-10secs after you've followed the correct instruction, then the screen goes blank again... until it wakes up 0.5miles from your next turning. It still reroutes if you go wrong (I go a different way in off the A23, so it did this a couple of times for me.) I can see this being brilliant for those muppets who usually go the whole journey with their satnav on, even when they've got 100+miles until their motorway exit for example (why?!) It saves battery as it only needs to be displayed when needed. When in a more built up area, it wakes about 3-5 secs before a roundabout or turning, so as not to confuse things too early. All I can do is reiterate what I said earlier: if you want a satnav replacement, this is going to be it. If you know your destination postcode and don't have to rely on the current unreliable POIs or names, then this Maps app is simply brilliant. It is a bind to manually locate the destination on the map or do a search to find the postcode before you locate the destination, but if you're off on a journey to somewhere you don't know, it's worth finding the postcode as the mechanics of the app itself are simply brilliant. I'm sure (sure, hopeful!) that whatever needs to be done to update and correct places and POIs will be done. In the meantime, don't write this app off just because you can 't be bothered to find/enter the post-code of your destination. Try it: it's awesome.

The Maps app is still in its infancy. The data, POIs, addresses etc will all be being added to and improved: so don't think that is it. I've been intensively testing the turn by turn directions / satnav function today. I previously had TomTom installed... I can tell you that the way turn by turn works, the directional display is far better than the TomTom app (which in itself was excellent.) The different look and fonts of Maps compared to the previous Google Maps app took a while for me to get used to with the building layout: but it actually makes more sense once you start using it more as you get a basic visual of the buildings you're passing instead of having no landmarks or buildings on the Google app. I'd say if you will be looking for a satnav replacement then stick with it. If you use the app just to find places, POIs etc, then it's 'ok' at the moment but not always accurate and not very detailed - but it is bound to get better. If you jump back to Google Maps when they bring a new app out and disregard the new Apple Maps app forever more, then you'll potentially be overlooking what will (eventually) be a major improvement.

Siri is actually very useable now. I can see me using it for a lot more than asking stupid questions now! It works well on opening apps, playing music and more now, too.

The traffic info based on location/speed of iOS devices is going to be a bigger thing than has been mentioned anywhere that I've seen.

Once you've wowed and changed the world with a new type of product, how can you keep doing that other than incremental improvements here and there? The iPhone and iPad changed the world - other manufacturers then copy and everyone has a 'similar' product that is very difficult to make a similar world-changing improvement upon, because it's already been invented. The Wright brothers' world changing invention has been improved upon over the years with technological advances, but essentially it's just a flying machine the same as that of the Wright brothers.
