  1. JWP free kick will sort it. We have history of free kicks winning quarter finals.
  2. He also changed the game when he came on against us at Molineux during their first season back and beat us 2-0. Mind you, Mark Hughes was our manager at the time. If the opposition had brought Norman Wisdom on as a sub midway through the second half it would have left Hughes floundering.
  3. Also the lowest ranking team left in the draw. Assuming we've given on Barnsley of course.
  4. I remember reading that we had to seek Liverpool's agreement to Keegan signing for us as they still held his registration in England. To their credit they kept quiet on this without leaking to the press as that would have spoiled the impact of his signing for us.
  5. I think that route is now closed and only the winner can qualify through the Cup.
  6. Bournemouth, Sheffield Utd ?
  7. At least we now know for cetrain that Salisu exists and is in the country. Hope he can play as well. I'm a little surprised that Bednarek starts ahead of Vestergaard , but perhaps Vestergaard isn't fully recovered and ready for a full cup tie. Redmond.... about time he delivered something. Hope we can win it in 90 minutes because there's not a great deal on the bench to replace tired legs.
  8. Can you see anyone else offering more ?

It was Les Reed who negotiated the deal don't forget.
  10. Didn't realise about Ceefax although don't know anyone who had it or spoke about it then. Fully accept your comment wasn't in MLG spirit... £400,000 or £440,000 sticks in my mind. Think this was our joint or record signing at the time, Osgood £275,000, and Charlie George £400,000.
  11. That remains to be seen. In an ideal world FF will come back in as he did in Koeman's last season and capture that form and effect on the defence to see an upturn in form until the end of the season. That's nice in theory but In the real world though we've seen FF's limitations all too often to think these might have been eradicated from his game. McCarthy fucked up at Newcastle as he did at home to Arsenal last season with a pass out, but the prospect of FF dealing with the ball at his feet whilst giving the impression of playing in Size 11 wellington boots scares me shitless as well. Can only hope for the FF of 2015/16 or whenever it was but can't bank on it. Agree with you, new GK required although unlikely to be a priority.
  12. Didn't we score after a minute ? Yes - good atmosphere.
  13. Article on Kent. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ryan-kent-regressed-rangers-would-23467802
  14. That really is worth a few MLG points from the higher end of the MLG spectrum. Irrespective of the date he signed I think most of us around at the time will remember the day it was announced as something special in the club's history and worth the memory. Thanks Alehouse, remember the day well and how it abruptly brought an end to studying/revision for the afternoon to listen to every sports news on the radio that afternoon. Main feature on the national news at 6pm, and bought four papers the next day to read up about it. No internet or even Ceefax to pour over in those days of course. In terms of excitement over signings, nothing has come close since and sadly don't think it ever will.

Just to add insult to injury, lets not forget Liverpool are entitled to a % of any sale. Not totally sure but got a feeling it may be as high as 20%. (Straight swap with Minamino then !!).
  17. Just hope he hasn't been told by Jankewitz that a sending off on your debut is the 'English way' of ingratiating yourself with supporters, and the current record is 82 seconds.
  18. Yes it was.
  19. Or want to be called JP or such like rather than their correct name ..
  20. Watkins was with Smith at Walsall. Not aware that Toney ever played there, his last club was Peterborough. We probably missed the boat with him as we did with Watkins when he left Exeter. I remember our name linked with Isak years ago, but by the time he went to Dortmund he’s out of our price range.
  21. Having “not kicked a ball since last February... “ Wonder how long for him to get ‘up to speed’ . Sometime before Salisu perhaps ?
  22. Hey, I'll remember that, you never know when it might come up in a pub quiz, or on The Chase. "Which former Southampton and Plymouth Argyle footballers name is an anagram of ... "
  23. Or perhaps he's related to Ben The Legend ?
  24. Notice Manny Andruzeski and John McGrath in the first one. McGrath did well to get his name on the same panel as Manny. Interesting that in those days the players took the time to actually sign/write their names. When my son was collecting autographs 2005-11 most players gave a couple of lines of a squiggle and a squad number as a clue.
