Don’t think many would disagree with that. Add in the need for a Charles replacement as well.
-
Dunno mate, never met you or your other half. You tell us tomorrow.
-
Mostly positive news, except no mention of BBD.

Hadn’t heard of the bloke until about a week ago, so open minded about it. Pros: seemed promising from time in Salzburg. And matches the profile for a Stewart replacement (Dobbin and Muamba don’t) Cons: pretty unimpressive time at Lazio to now be surplus. Has already rejected the option of the move. (Last signing from Lazio I think was poor - surely he’s not the Wesley Hoedt of strikers). Can’t see this happening the more I think about it. Having declined us once it seems an unlikely u-turn. Gut feeling is that having not made it in Italy he’ll look to head back to Serbia (perhaps seeing it as a safer option). Aren’t Red Star Belgrade the glamour team for most Serbs (unless you support Partizan)? Hope Saints don’t wait on this too long. (Having said this, watch the fucker being announced this evening).

Couple of linked articles further up the thread

Wonder if the poor sod had been trapped in from the end of last season.
-
From the limited articles available it seems they need/want to sell to raise funds for their new manager to buy a striker. If so, it seems unlikely Lazio will be keen on a loan with either an option or obligation, they want the £now. But if the other clubs mentioned are Moscow Spartak and Red Star Belgrade what sort of sums are they able to throw at it ? No idea how flush either are

Good point.
-
Anyone seen what sort of fee might be involved here ?
-
Just hope it isn’t a clue that he’s coming back. I still go cold thinking of his Sunderland debut.
-
Perhaps not over-keen to join us. At what point do we accept that and move on ?
-
Wasn’t it the -10 in L1 ?
-
Christ, is he still with us ? Thought he’d already fucked off
-
Agree, it’s a crap kit on its own merits without any reference to the skates. If you changed the royal blue to navy, black, or green then added a load of pink or any other contrast second colour swirled in that design it would still be shit.
-
Think he only scored four all season or something pretty poor. Although he contributed quite a bit to how we played that season and the next (think it was the 4-2-4 with Shearer, Rod Wallace and MLT up front), never felt Rideout lived up to our hopes of him.
-
Possibly because the strip didn’t draw comparison with them. The first blue away kit I remember (1980) from the Keegan era was in a design that at the time was unique to us with the front and rear panels. It was also navy and sky blue, not the Skates shade. An epic kit, must be due for a rerun.
-
Although I don’t think he was beating the door down to leave, he did have an ambition to get back in the England frame,so for that I think he was keen to go. But he handled the thing well it seems with little fuss.
-
Doubt his Accountant,Bank Manager, or wife have given him any grief on the matter.
-
West Brom away , last minute penalty under Poch. Colin Clarke hatrick in 1986 v QPR. I think that was first game of the season. And his home debut. Also, and it might pre-date your interest but we beat West Brom 4-0 at The Dell in 1976.
-
Fine if he makes an impact when he gets off his arse, but does he ?
-
Not sure spraying passes was part of the Martin game. More sideways 10 yards between two CB’s and GK. And again. And again..
-
Just reminded me did anyone put any semi naked nuns on the matchday thread today ? (Can’t be bothered checking back, but might be unfair blaming manager and players if we haven’t played our part)
-
Perhaps there is also a fear that if we needed to bring him on he might be injured before the window ends. Club might view it differently in September if he’s still here.
-
I fear he might fall into the ‘not quite sure what his best position is’ type of player.
-
Perhaps they’ll have the last laugh with the bloke they later brought in (for a position we needed).
