  1. Downs looks a lot better in that video. Hope we’ve a got a winger as good as Steve De Ridder lined up as well.
  2. A small consolation.
  3. A better read and shows him in a more positive light than the YouTube video
  4. Trust the recruitment team they’ll have plenty of names.
  5. Have said it before: what is wrong with these people (fucking cretins) who design and select the shirts ?
  6. Part of the link last summer was his relationship with Martin. No chance that move will now be resurrected, loan or otherwise.
  7. First goal was a scuff that Che would have been proud of. Looks as if he likes a tap in as well. But nothing of note there, apart from a top knot, and a bit reminiscent of Mara. Definitely give him a miss and onto the next one. Hopefully.
  8. 1982 had its moments, although it was played as I remember just after the Falklands War so that was a bit of distraction. ( All delighted when the Argies lost their opening game). Some great moments early stages, was it Brazil v Italy with some spectacular goals ? Brazil looked great at one point. Schumachers assault stands the test of time. But they bollocksed the format up with a second group stage of groups of three. Teams seemed to play not to lose. Really stagnated the format. Never repeated.

    Will Still

Wasn’t he their manager when they beat us 1-0 in the Cup, Lambert scoring
  10. Can only hope Still is on board with this appointment. Good idea to add some experience to the management team but whether Still sees it that way, or would rather appoint his own team, is another matter.
  11. I made a comment the other week when his name was first mooted. I’m sure Ted Bates tried to sign John Trollope but Swindon refused to sell.
  12. Read the title and wondered what song it came from. No idea, perhaps the next line is about 4,000 holes in Blackburn, Lancashire…

Don't know how you reached that conclusion. From his page he looks like the quiet 'old boy' who sits in the corner of his local nursing his pint, and will have a chat with all and sundry. Every pub used to have them. So it it really beyond the realms of possibility that someone popped in and in the middle of a casual chat about the weather, cost of a pint etc, just dropped into the conversation, as anyone might, that they had received or tabled a £150m bid for Saints that day ? Of course we've no idea if it was Dragan himself stopping by for a swift one on the way home, or some Arab cunt (for an orange juice). Anyway, I'll leave it for other to decide how credible this is.

The Acid Tests really, time will tell. Think we've been here before though, so not getting hopes up.
  15. Seemed unthinkable that he’d leave us but when he did Lawrie pulled off a masterstroke bringing Phil Boyer in. Strangely at the time I wasn’t keen to resign him from City, viewing it as a bit of a backward step. How I was wrong. He was brilliant a second time round for another few seasons. Definitely released him too soon. Doubt the club would have done this had they known Keegan wanted out.

Can’t complain about their intentions, and Dragan putting £ in. So far it’s the people around him who have let him down. Just hope Spors bucks that trend. Review it at close of transfer window. But be careful in hoping for change. We certainly don’t need a ‘Fake Sheikh’ at the helm. His record at Almeira is nothing to suggest he’d improve things here.

Early days this summer but so far our only signing is a 19 year old with potential. The appointment of Still in itself will either prove to be an inspired stroke of genius, or another in a long line of SR brain fart gambles.

True to a point. Two different roles of course, and not being suited to one doesn't mean he can't be successful at the other.

Was looking the article posted this morning or last night and am left wondering. Spors comes with a decent reputation, Lederer was involved at Hoffenheim who I thought had a reasonable record for unearthing decent players to stay afloat in the Bundesliga. So far, so good. Then Spors has brought in some of his former cronies from Genoa, including a bloke who looks about 16. What's their track record there ? No idea about Steve Stanton or Chorley, his time at Swindon and Valenciennes doesn't make a ringing endorsement., but then very few of us had heard of Paul Mitchell when he arrived. The Mariella 'Doris' has a bit more credit in the bank from her time at Norwich, if as suggested she brought a couple of decent players from South America. Then there's a bloke who was a software engineer at Barclays...
  20. Totally agree with you, but realistically unlikely to happen I suspect.
  21. I'd like him to stay as much as any Saints fan, but there's al limit to how far I'd go to try and persuade him. Each to their own of course.
  22. Might this depend, among other things, on how we see Quarshie, Edwards progression ?
  23. Possibly covered before, but what is the difference between Palace/Lyon, and the RB Leipzig/ Salzburg relationship a few years ago ? I recall both were allowed in the competition, vague recollection of a fixture between them. Unless there is anything specific to these two, I’d have thought that might have set a precedent.
  24. ... against Liechtenstein... (in context)
  25. Interesting thought. 1983/4 it was a bit of a slump in Oct/Nov as I recall that cost us. I often wonder how things might have panned out (1981/2) had Lawrie been able to bring Trevor Francis to The Dell as he wanted to at the time.
