He played half a season it seems before injury. Not overwhelming references on their Forum though as someone posted earlier. Fair point re the England U21’s.
-
In agreement with Blackmore re needing another proven option. Larin and a relatively untried youngster is a high risk if we’re seriously going for automatic promotion.
-
I think Ball was only 31 on joining us. Although past the prime of his career he had some years ahead of him, and a fantastic football brain to make up for his ‘older’ legs. Not many players of his calibre would drop a division now. Agree with your points though.

Have to be cautious in judging from an U18’s or young team. As you say we couldn’t cope then with his speed and strength. Perhaps he had developed ahead of his age group. It makes promising viewing but is he still looking like another Antonio ? Good signing if he is and lives up to it.

I was thinking more of 1960’s London, Great Train Robbery, and shootings at The Blind Beggar
-
Shame we couldn’t get him in the same squad as Ronnie Edwards. Definitely sound as if from a different era.
-
I’d have him back if only for his song.
-
Although I’ve questioned the sell on % , have to credit the club for holding out for nearer our figure, when you consider what Middlesbrough sold Hackney for.
-
If we can secure that then the same negotiator should look to sell Bazunu for £20m.
-
Pretty sure I’ve read Man City have had sell ons in that region in the past. And there was a rumour that Livramento was on a stepped % which increased the Chelsea % as the fee increased.
-
Do they want the player or not ? That should put us in a reasonably good bargaining position on what is some notional add-on at some point in the future that may or may not be payable. (Playing my MLG card on you, the % is usually on the profit not the whole fee).
-
Wasn’t it only about 15% for Fernandes? I think we could and should have obtained a larger %. Ballard was as I recall a free yet our sell on is less than 20%. It seems an area of the deal that could be relatively easier to improve on, as from the buying clubs position it is not a guaranteed outlay they’re committed to at some future point.
-
Need a good proportion of the Charles fee on a proven CF now.
-
Am sorry to see him leave but it’s been on the cards for months and inevitable. Shame it wasn’t agreed a few weeks ago from our angle. £30m isn’t a bad fee, depending on how structured. I like the sound of a sell on but hope we’ve secured 20-30% on this, the figures for Fernandes and Ballard seem pretty poor negotiating on our part.
-
On balance the rest of what you say is the more compelling case.
-
Hope that’s not the case. Need to nail the CF position, his time at Preston seemed pretty underwhelming in terms of goals.
-
L difference, Xg’s etc Why do I feel a disconnect with the modern game ? (Yes, I’m aware of the serious point you make…, but what a load of bollocks)
-
Wonder if Juric needs a GK at Monza. Or two.

Looks better there than as a shirt

I think you missed the gist of his post, Hope the recovery from the humour bypass operation is going well.

Agree, definitely some recency bias in some answers. No issues with Ramsdale from his time with us or his choice and manner of him leaving. During a shocking season I can only recollect one goal conceded where I thought he was at fault ( first at home to Wolves). If Peretz hadn’t signed in June I’d have been happy with Ramsdale coming back in, altjough highly unlikely of course. Also agree with comments re Peretz return, the one we most wanted and great to have him. Seems a good influence (as I think Ramsdale is also). Deciding which is ‘better’ is a closer run thing. Peretz had a few moments last season (Preston away, the goals conceded at Doncaster) to give concern. Ramsdale has proven himself in the EPL. Perhaps Peretz has the greater potential. Happy with either as No 1 choice, but need to sort the No2 out.
-
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone suggesting ‘bad apple’ etc or poor attitude. He wanted to stay in the EPL to protect his chances of World Cup selection, and we didn’t want his hefty wages after relegation. I don’t suspect he’s kicking up a rumpus in the background, that seems out of character. In fairness I think the same can probably be said of Bazunu.

Hopefully we’re on the right track
