  1. Must have been well worth it, to get shafted at Bournemouth, and especially 5-0 down at HT home to Spurs.
  2. Agree that he could be good for us, and really develop at St Mary’s with some better players around him. Reasonable price though ? With the press reporting what we’re asking for our two key players, I’d be surprised if WBA won’t be seeking £10-12m.
  3. Does he attack at speed though ? He was capable of it a couple of seasons ago, although very often he wanted to do the nifty footwork, step overs, and soft shoe shuffle , ie just mincing around. But he seemed capable of more, although end products and shots weren’t great despite a few goals. Agree that his season and form dived after Norwich, and for whatever reason, Martin didn’t seem to trust him afterwards.
  4. Thanks. Nothing of note from him then. Trouble is, you can cynically put your own interpretation on it. If he plays well, then he’s clearly playing for a move, but if he’s crap and going through the motions, then he’s already gone (“his head is at St Mary’s”). Alternatively, the third and most likely possibility, he just had an average or poor game.
  5. Didn’t see the game, but detect some sarcasm. How did he play ?
  6. I don’t doubt that may be the local word, but he’s hardly likely to foghorn the view ‘ I’m waiting for an offer and might piss off ‘. Have to be a bit of a knobhead to do that. * *although I have read that Lallana did exactly that c2009 or 10.
  7. Was Rishi with him ? Perhaps they’re planning a ruck with some of Penny’s mob at the Skates game

Final comment, really feel for those in what was described as the forgotten war. Although many aren’t around for the anniversary, even the events yesterday were far lower key than commemorations for D-Day and VE Day.

My father told me the story in the 1970’s of an old boy he knew who’d been a POW under the Japanese. He was walking along in pissing rain when a friend pulled up, and called him “jump in Frank, I’ll give you a lift” Got in the car and usual conversation over the friends new car, this is nice, what is it? .. oh where do they come from ?”. When told Japan, he immediately threw up, and insisted they stop the car, and he’d walk. Couldn’t stomach the thought of being back in close proximity to something Japanese.

I recall this being captured on the front page of Private Eye, with a picture of a plane landing at Heathrow and the caption “There’s a nasty nip in the air”.
  11. Hoffenheim seeking €10m according to article. Wouldn’t be like us to overpay would it ? (Thinkng Bazunu, Edozie for example).
  12. Stands out a mile doesn’t it ?
  13. And scores belters all the time ?
  14. Good league to sign from. Providing the players are up to scratch of course.
  15. If the Spertsyan move was going to happen I think there’d have been something definite by now. He’s had time to mull it over, no need to sit down and speak with their owner other than to eek out a counter offer. The Scienza link seems to be one of our going down the list moves. The sort of move that in the past has seen us end up with Elyonoussi after we originally targeted Maddison.
  16. No definitely not. Seen on the BBC site sports pages earlier. Scouse not English don’t forget. “Calm down, calm down …” Or perhaps they’re tourist fans.

Thanks. Good one. I did wonder about the Tin Tin (Belgian) connection, but didn't recognise the image put up earlier.
  18. Especially if they can get it ready for our Boxing Day fixture.

Lost on me, what's that a reefrence to ?
  20. I think that’s Bertaccini whose name appeared on the thread at some stage.
  21. Thanks. Sounds promising.
  22. Looks the part in the video doesn’t he ? I don’t understand why his club might consider releasing him for €3.5m though having not long paid this for him.
  23. Any of idea of from where ? (Country etc, given location of your contact)
  24. You may not remember but earlier in the year (1978) Chelsea had played Orient at Brisbane Road ( in the FA Cup I think) and the wall had collapsed after a surge in the crowd. This made the news as it was considered deliberate vandalism at the time. I was near the front as the surge happened after the final whistle, and there was a feeling coming down the terrace from the back that “that fucking wall has got to go ..,”. Eventually it did and at that point it was quite a relief. Saints fans had a bit of ‘mischief’ and adventure about them in those days.
  25. A great and memorable night.
