We can condemn agents all we like ( and most would agree). But surely if the player as client says I want to stay at Saints (or any other club) then that’s the end of the matter and his agent shouldn’t be hawking him around. They will of course be saying look the best I can get there is £x, and a move to wherever is £y, but the focus should be the deal with the preferred club. Seems tail trying to wag the dog. Players should have the gumption to tell the agent to fuck off if they’re not listening. (Totally agree with you about the WC).
  2. The more obscure, the better it seems. Do City Group have a French club ? If they do then SR can probably identify an assistant, youth team, or girls coach to appoint at Valenciennes. As for the break it didn’t go so well with Jones and his six weeks.

Possibly an indication as to why there’s a reluctance to see a shirt with stripes on the back. Looks tacky, and lower division in my view. But could be worse (TY Beanies springs to mind …)
  4. Or in our case, “ please buy a striker “* * a real one, proven to score goals, not one of the Sheffield Utd dream team, or a cripple
  5. As scuffed shots go, that was pretty impressive

Can that be possible, for the agent to obstruct it if he wants to stay at Saints. Of course it isn’t in the agents interest for him to remain here, and understandably he’ll be researching other options, but if TD wants to stay that should be the end of it. On the other hand RM’s summary of contract talks may be as reliable as his injury updates on Ross Stewart.
  7. No, and I don’t think House of Fun had even been recorded then, this was after their second album, Baggy Trousers etc.
  8. Perhaps it’s the duffle coat he wears. But does have that look about him. Best summary of Potter I read on here was someone describing him as looking like a U-boat captain. Can’t recall who but good work whoever. Having said that, yes be pleasantly surprised for him and his duffle coat to take the managers dug out at St Mary’s. Won’t happen of course.
  9. Comes to something where we can’t even sing “we’re the shittest team in Hampshire “ after how we’ve been playing.
  10. 3-0 down after 30 minutes. Good start to the weekend, so far. But I think Derby are a bit vulnerable as well, so just hope this isn’t the game where they implode
  11. Saw them live in 1980. Brilliant.
  12. It was a different feeling … yes, winning you cunt. A now largely forgotten emotion I’d have thought.
  13. Wonder if he fancies supplementing his pension with a bit of DOF’ing at the moment. Nothing semi-permanent even, just come in, sack Lego and done. Bit of extra money before Christmas and make up the deficit of losing his winter fuel allowance.

Seems possible. But they’ve probably targeted the upper end of the market for those available (Potter, Moyes being the obvious names) who wouldn’t touch us in our position. Remains to be seen whether SR amend their ‘offer’/ demands when relegated to a lower tier of managers

And the rest …. If we look to sell him at that sort of level then we might as well pack up.What’s the point ? But we’ve been run by muppets for so long nothing would come as a surprise.
  16. That’s me out then. Anyway, I think RM has used up our UEFA Beard Quota for the next decade.
  17. Yes it was. Think Middlesbrough scored in 89th minute and injury time. First goal I recall was a bit of a fluke from a corner, skimmed someone’s head (possibly Higginbotham) and went in. Confidence drained and the second was inevitable, our defenders backed off and backed off leaving someone the opportunity to get a shot in. As I remember it was almost in slow motion with a scuffed shot that was always going in. That set the tone. Always thought had we held on to that the season might have gone differently. But we’ll never know.
  18. Fucking hell, he’s gone from someone none of us had heard of to “a good choice” in just over half an hour. Not intended as a dig at you Andy but it goes to show the power of the internet. Expect bets on him to be suspended by 9pm tonight ( amidst rumours he’s renting Martin O’Neill’s flat in Winchester).
  19. beard, skinny jeans, vaping ? No idea as never heard of him.
  20. I think it was 2004, twenty years ago, about this time of year as well, when many of us hoped/thought his arrival would bring about an upturn in our fortunes... How wrong we were. So, lesson on following Saints, prepare for disappointment.
  21. Fine for this season, but we need to think about who is right foe a promotion push next season, unless the 'plan'is to change again at the end of this.
  22. This, you'd have thought. Yet the latest name proposed is: Lets wait and see, but not inspiring, especially given our track record.
  23. Wonder who is responsible for dredging him up. Thought that the 'City lite' approach might have fucked off with Shields and Willcox. Apparently not.
  24. You’re obviously a youngster. I think it was 1/- when I first went to The Dell (late 60’s). But yes, simpler and happier days.
  25. Haven’t we reliably been informed that Ankerson isn’t involved in decision making and recruitment at Saints but has a Group role ? Perhaps conflicts with Kraft’s Mr Football interview.
