  1. When I first started watching in the late 60's, and early 70's, it might depend on what time they turned up. More often than not it was The Archers Road end but you'd often see a row of Police helmets segregating fans in the Milton. I think Pompey in the 1974-5 season, our first season after relegation the Police put them in one half of the Milton.
  2. Do we charge a premium if the player goes with a song, and do we pay extra if they come with one ? Armstrong for instance had a good one attached to him at Celtic, although like him it hasn't taken off that well . Perhaps it just doesn't translate that well.
  3. Didn't we have the same comments last year, week after week ? What has changed ? The Head Ditherer has gone, but the Ditherer's Apprentice is still in residence (Wilson), and then there is Ralph, King of Waffle, to oversee things.
  4. This shows the current problem in that we don't seem to have enough players whose effort supporters can identify with, 'Jose Fonte baby' is another one lost from repertoire.
  5. I remember it from the 1970's. Unfortunately in the 70's every club would have a rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone, with scarves held above the head, at some stage of a match. Embarrassing really when I think about it,we were mongs before our time, but then again so was everyone else (Imagine Man Utd and the Stretford End singing something from their hated rivals, but they did).
  6. You do realise he's only been at PSV since June ? Hardly likely to walk out that early in his career.
  7. Either would seem a decent risk/choice to take, although would face the problem of having their hands tied with the current squad and little prospect of major changes in the next transfer window.
  8. Rumours that he's after a pay rise ?
  9. Interesting bit on Webber: https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/football-league/norwich-city-championship-table-leeds-united-derby-county-daniel-farke-stuart-webber-a8625396.html Can't see why he'd want to come to us whilst he's at a well run club at Norwich with things going well for him.
  10. For us perhaps, but not sure he'd see it that way .. leaving a team on the up at the top of the Championship for one possibly going the other way.
  11. reassuring isn't it ?
  12. I wonder if getting rid of Reed and today's 'Ralphagram' is a posturing for the possible sale of the club by Gao. Am also hoping we don't employ a Les strategy to replacing him, ie the Art of Dither. Perhaps I'm hoping for too much.
  13. I'd go along with the recognition of Les's contribution in his early days. Unfortunatley it started going downhill 2014/15 with the Alderweirald fiasco, as much as anything the media circus surrounding it, and afterwards. Credit where it's due though, wasn't Mitchell a Les appointment?
  14. Only a statue will do.
  15. Sir Clive and Simon Clifford probably have "unfinished business" at the club.
  16. Nah, I reckon Nelly and Kat decided it at a coffee morning, or at a Costa after a shopping spree together.
  17. Is he the new Tadanari Lee ? Or perhaps Nakajima is Japanese for Carrillo.
  18. Perhaps Yoshida has put in a good word to him about the club, and what great employers they are.
  19. Why would he be a "fun appointment" ? Presumably on the reputation for a passing and pressing game but his record seems a mixed lot from reading about him. It's easy to make a case for and against most names specualted on but reading on Bosz seems he was promising at Arnham, had a year at Ajax (no doubt benefiting from the youth set up which churns out a crop year after year rather than once ageneration, Les take note), but failed at Dortmund. https://www.bundesliga.com/en/news/Bundesliga/borussia-dortmund-and-peter-bosz-what-went-wrong-466231.jsp
  20. Player sent to Portsmouth as a punishment: https://talksport.com/football/443278/premier-league-vincent-pericard-portsmouth-juventus/
  21. Depends who is selecting them though. This doesn't answer some of the other criticisms, not least of all fitness. Mentioned this to a Stoke fan today and his response was that this was an often commented on aspect during his time there, that his teams often appeared overrun easily after 65-70 minutes.

    Hughes OUT

This link lead me to this, proving there is no guarantee of success no matter how big a name. Thierry Henry : who'd have thought ? https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/7657865/thierry-henry-monaco-flops-reims-loss/
  23. Jardim , mentioned in tonights Express/Mirror articles, ahs also been linked with Real Madrid. https://www.marca.com/en/football/real-madrid/2018/11/03/5bdc8dbd22601d864b8b4594.html So, Real Madrid or Saints, that'll be a difficult one for him and cause a few sleepless nights I'm sure.

    Hughes OUT

Express also with an 'exclusive' : https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1041314/Southampton-EXCLUSIVE-Mark-Hughes-could-be-sacked-Saturday Both articles include reference to Jardim: IF he was high on our wishlist why haven't we snared him by now. Either the article(s) are crap with no substance, or Reed is dithering again. Probably both are true.
