Teams getting relegated from the PL and potential signings
Badger replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Good shout - right age group for our developing masterclass. -
Gray, Wigley spring to mind.
-
Good call. But don't overlook Alan Turdishley. I once heard it said that he did a great job at Charlton.
-
I think he was a spent force by that stage though.
-
I thought 'Arry was exclusively credited with the success of unearthing every gem the club has produced in the last decade.
-
Interesting you mention him . I read once that he was very much on our shortlist to interview at one stage, in the early days of his career. I can't remember if it was after Lawrie left us in 1986 (think it was), or after Chris Nicholl. Saints asked Millwall if we could speak with him, they said no, and that was the end of it. No tabloid invitations to talk in those days, accepted it with good grace and moved on.
-
I believe he is by the way. I always thought that he felt he might get a chance with us one day, after all he seemed to go everywhere else.

or Jim Smith , or Gordon Lee ?
-
Not sure Ulrika would agree with you.

Was Dalian Wanda at the game in person yesterday ?

Mauricio Pochettino staying as Southampton manager - Official
Badger replied to Ashley Grute's topic in The Saints
To the NPC or from it ? If from it, then his suspicions were perhaps well founded. -
Strange though, as after the Arsenal game the general consensus on here was that he looked relaxed and happy in the post match interview
-
Pleased to see the club acknowledging his birthday. Would hate to see him go off in a sulk because they forgot it, like one previous South American did.
-
Any links to MP's post match interviews ?

No track record at all from what I've read. -
Imagine the outcry if someone suggested 'the only reason Garth Crooks is a BBC pundit is because he's black'.
-
That seems a lesson (almost) learnt from the chief puppeteer. Only difference is that NC at least did not allow his media chums to run the story that he'd "like" to go to [insert unrealistic club of choice]. PSG ? What b0ll0cks. Filthy rich club run by Arab consortium, "oh, yes this bloke has achieved mid-table finishes in England once, and Spain once...let's give him a go ". Doubt they even realise he once played for them. As for his control, not sure on that one depending on intentions of KL etc, would they really want to be seen ripping it up to start again ?
-
I wonder what his bonus is based upon, performances or results ? Agree young team that is developing. Perhaps some commitment from the manager to continuing that development would give him some leeway. Oh, and trying to win a trophy that you're supposedly competing for is always appreciated.

We bought a heap of trouble for £12m, with a track record of throwing a wobbly and disrupting the dressing room before. Add to this he simply did not want to be here, and it was inevitable it would end in chaos and tears. The clubs agreed the deal in May for Christ sake, and MP/NC pursued it. Absolute lunacy.

I've just posted this on the other MP thread, and seems to fit in with this topic: ..... leagues are littered with managers who once showed great promise, whose to say MP won't be one of them ? For all the hype, his achievements in terms of trophies is nil, and as his detractors on here point out, his win ratio is not spectacular. Wonder if his master, NC, would be getting an itchy finger on the trigger after four wins in 18 ? Is this really well enough into the 'next level' that he desired ?

One of the stumbling blocks that really needs addressing, as of a month ago really. Unfortunately we seem to want to do this bit by bit, which means other things around it fall off in the process. Yes, big worry. Ideally IF we could make the change , if we have to, asap, it would at least give someone chance to put their mark on things, and work with the current squad. For all those saying they are closely attached to MP, the same was said regarding Adkins don't forget. That deal will only be offered when the CEO etc are in place. If he's not interested then try bringing in the right man, subject to availability this season ( though easier said than done perhaps). Like you, I hope MP stays, to continue what he appears to have started, but only if he's motivated enough to want to be here. At the moment it seems otherwise. Having said that about continuing the progress, leagues are littered with managers who once showed great promise, whose to say MP won't be one of them ? For all the hype, his achievements in terms of trophies is nil, and as his detractors on here point out, his win ratio is not spectacular. Wonder if his master, NC, would be getting an itchy finger on the trigger after four wins in 18 ? Is this really well enough into the 'next level' that he desired ? -
Any links to the goals ?

Out of interest, who exactly might be lining up a replacement ? I doubt KL has an in depth knowledge of Spanish football, Ralph Krueger perhaps marginally more, but for the selection of a manager/first team coach ?
