  1. Remember this comment from ML on his arrival:
  2. If AP is shown the door, then unless there are reasons of gross misconduct which we currently know nothing about,we don't deserve to progress.
  3. Depends where we think we might be in December. From the results this season and the way AP seemed to be shaping things I would be reasonably confident in leaving AP in situ.
  4. If NC axes AP then I expect the reasons,as I think you stated on an earlier post, may well not solely be due to results and progress but a conflict along the way.Shame if it happens and I hope it does not. I will however await NC's 'Plan B' though before going off on one. Lets remember above all else the debt of gratitude we owe NC and ML from 12months ago.
  5. That would be fine, although I expect he will want to be involved more often than we can guarentee next season.
  6. It made for good entertainment, and yes I admire his 'fighting spirit' to a point but would he be a hero had we been reduced to 10 men at a time we were winning 2-1 (3-1 on agg) only to see us throw the match away? In the past our 'psycho's' and hardmen could also impose their class on the game - Dennis,Case,in recent times - Thomas and Prutton don't quite meet their standard.
  7. Yes.I have followed Saints for too long not to support the team because of a managerial appointment that I was not keen on.Lets be honest after Branfoot, and some of the other flawed selections (Gray,Wigley) we have all had plenty of practice in putting aside our doubts and grievances.
  8. Interesting stats there. Personally,I saw the -10pts as a (not insurmountable)handicap.I consider the lack of pre-season sorting and first 5 weeks of the season where AP was seeking to put together his squad as our undoing.
  9. I too hope he goes to Swansea...or West Ham...or Villa or whoever but not us.
  10. Agree but he does have a bit of the 'Prutton factor' to ingratiate himself to those whose main criteria are reckless challanges, clenched fist gestures to the crowd, and getting involved in fracas around the pitch. Did he headbutt Rasiak once as well ? Oh well,he can't be that bad afterall then.
  11. Totally agree. Or as David Mellor used to say on 606 "thats a very good point and eloquently argued".
  12. A question I raised earlier, but as yet no one has been able to answer. Were programmes available on subscription this season? If so they should have been despatched in advance of Saturday and some people might have received them before they were pulled from general sale.If none received by subscribers then it supports the fact that 'printing' issues were responsible perhaps? Personally I find it unlikely that the columns by AP, KD etc are not proof read/scrutinised by a press officer or similar at SFC,if not actually written by the press officer with only a couple of guidance notes from the name on the column.
  13. Yes,I read that in the programme yesterday.Surprised no one else has commented on it really....
  14. We spoke to him, got a pic, got an autograph and he was a really friendly bloke. Fuss about nothing, wait for him at the next home game if your that dissapointed .
  15. Agree Hughes would not be a good appointment at this level, and his record at Man City was not that impressive when considering how much he spent. AP should continue the job he has started and the team that he is shaping. If AP goes then we would herald the return of the revolving door policy for managers and plaing staff alike that has been disastrous in the past.
  16. I did qualify it and neither of those mentioned below are after Ivan Golac. I remember Kirkup in the first Saints line up I saw.He was probably coming to the end of his time with us (1969/70).I was not particularly impressed but none too discerning in those days,as a kid only the goalscorers of Channon,Big Ron,and Paine stood out.(Occasionally John McGrath and Gabriel for their thumping tackles, but that was it.) Sorry,I am a mere whippersnapper and only in my late 40's so no recollection of either.
  17. The ultimate right back.None since have been better or anywhere near to him in my book.
  18. I know I saw him but he was sporting a black eye and bruised lip. NC asked him to collect the programmes on his way to the ground but he was ambushed at a service station when he stopped for a nap.Police say his attackers made off with 5,000 matchday programmes.

Nick Holmes to be next Saints manager then.Obvious !
  20. Especially in this manner. It seems reminiscent of Berkovic having used us as a shop window to display his talents then p!ss off at the end of the season for a bigger payday.
  21. When I was 15 I had a pair of 'lucky underpants' which I wore to every game.We won the FA Cup that year. Obviously they have long since been discarded.May explain why we have not won the FA Cup since.
  22. Agreed,it definitely smacks of Poyet throwing his teddy out of the pram.

So Hughes did not feel he wanted to become part of the 'spirit of Southampton' but preferred his own elevated clique of Hirst and Carlton Palmer, all of whom thought they were above the club and their team mates. Hughes greatest impact on the club during his time here was his willingness to be on the payroll and accept his inflated wage.
  24. Only on a Brighton and HIV Albion board would you read such gems as: ...sn!gger,sn!gger - from a poster called Lush.
