  1. Slightly strange as I've also read he wants to play for Eire rather than England if the chance ever arises.

Yes,I recall we had a fairly patchy start to the season, and a bit of an injury crisis in October/November.Didn't we have to resort to playing Phil Kite in goal at one stage? Wasn't that the season he clattered into Mark Wright in a League Cup tie at Rotherham,a match we duly lost ? Despite that, there were great times that season especially with Dennis,Agboola,Williams, Armstron,Moran and eventually Worthington. Worthington was regarded when he first arrived as an over the hill name, and many fans were disgruntled by Lawrie signing him for £20,000 when Pompey had shelled out 'bigger' money for Mark Hately.Worthington eventually won everyone round, especially in the second half of the season, with some classy displays. Remember the 'Frankie goes to Wembley' t-shirts ? But for that little c^nt Heath.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised to see Beattie joining up with WGS at 'boro tbh.
  4. I can't imagine Wolves being prepared to release Vokes as he will be in their plans for CCC next season.
  5. Someone recently put a link up to new site that he is now sharing his pearls of wisdom with a few days ago. or should that be: Someone Recently Put A Link Up To A New Site That He Is Now Sharing His Pearls Of Wisdom With A Few Days Ago.
  6. Ruddock never fulfilled his potential on leaving Saints in my view.
  7. I think such a suggestion should be put on hold for a while.Certainly we would have to be well above 15th in L1 before talking of our "rise". In principle though it is a good idea.Perhaps an intwerview with Paul Allen would make interesting ,although perhaps short, reading. ...or Benthelegend.
  8. Fred and Rose West are probably Gloucestershire's finest candidates for this award. But Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler eclipse the lot, having conducted their "serial" on an industrial scale across the continent of Europe.
  9. Wonder if Oakley could be tempted back. Can't help thinking a midfield three of Oakley,Scheiderlin and Hammond would provide the perfect 'engine' for Saints.
  10. Would he be able to work alongside Lambert ?
  11. Just a bit of optimism on my part !
  12. L1 Play Off Final is on my wedding anniversary in 2010.
  13. okay,only kidding
  14. At least Scotland can't complain of "being in the hardest group" as they used to.
  15. I agree it would be good to have a respected figure in this role, which is an honorary and ambassadorial position. Obvious questions though would be criterea for the post, and who is available. If we are seeking someone with a longstanding and distinguished Saints connection, then really there are in my view only two realistic outstanding candidates,John Mortimore and,I know this will reopen heated debate, Lawrie Mac.As stated the other candidates are overseas or otherwise occupied. It is disappointing if they have been lost to Saints, but if their abscence is due to sulks etc then that is their choice and I see no reason for the new regime to chase after them. As krissyboy says though, this is probably a long way down the current list of priorities.
  16. He was just trying to get a stiff to impress her with...
  17. Agree, that does tend to put a different light on it.
  18. ..what is Kasey Keller doing these days anyway ?
  19. I thought Ipswich had a skate GK on loan who was previously keeping Wright out. The FA's argument would be that if clubs can afford to retain 4 GK's then they should be prepared to play them.In our case we might have to contend with Forecast if BB is injured or fouls up in the next few weeks.
  20. Good clip. You should now change your user name to sentimentaloldgit really !
  21. Think it was stated when Papa arrived that Senegal had not qualified so he would not be disappearing for three weeks.
  22. Didn't hear anything up here.
  23. Not the only difference by any means, the will to find a backer is really just the tip of the iceberg. Madjeski took a club from, probably about where we are now, into the Premiership and delivered a stadium.RL on the other hand took an established premiership club and almost drove it into oblivion.
  24. Problem is though that the FA ,not unreasonably, will want to see a tangible bid and proposal from the interested cities to make that decision.Unless we have quietly put something in front of them, which I doubt, then we are not even in contention. No amount of cyber stalking of Motson,Beckham or the FA will change that.
  25. Remember when he joined us,he was lauded as a "dead ball specialist" ? Although his passing can be outstanding at times,I have seen little evidence of freekicks etc to back up the original claim. Then again that did come from the Lowe era (Part II) and a campaign of misinformation which likened Holmes to Dutch superstars etc.
