I doubt that this would have influenced Fry one iota. But I am intrigued as to how Pinnacle came up with the funds when they seemed penniless and leaderless when required. There was of course good old 'Uncle Leon' to fall back on,and like MLT he was reeled in.

Beat me to it.Either two great minds or two paranoid minds.

As was Nick Leeson, whom we understand was first appointed at Barings by none other than our former chairman. Does that circle the square,or square the circle ? Or just give worrying grounds for fearing the return or continued involvement of His Rupertship?
-
So do I but my worry is that SFC might not.

Wikipedia link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebherr_Group and we still get a mention here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Allen

Someone has also kindly updated their Wikipedia page,as indeed they did for Paul Allen two years ago. I regret though that just reading it does not make it more likely to happen.

Must be one exceptional manager who as a boy had a fixation with large industrial cranes and dreamt of meeting the Liebherr family, let alone working with/for them (Rather like Ripping Yarns and the bloke who was obsessed with garden spades and the annual precipitation on Denley Moor... for those old enough to remember it.) WGS ? Mistake to come back ?

Jurgen Klinsmann isn't it ?
-
No complaints about his handling of the 1976 FA Cup final though !

That assumes its Thomas Schmidheiny behind the deal,in which case the figure was $4.4bn in 2006. Ernesto Bertarelli from the same source is $8.2bn. Any other Swiss contenders?
-
Thought about it and the answer is no he does not deserve a chance.

A truly titillating thread.

I feel let down FOR him. And for all of us.

Agree.MLT stood up to the task, whereas many others just watched. He was a victim of his own cult status which made him an invaluable asset to a potential purchaser who had they come out in the open without him - ie TL and Fialka - they would have been greeted with the same derision as MJ. MLT in his over eagerness to promote the club was misled.

The sunglasses were an indication of a flashsod out of his depth, and when they wheeled the penniless Shylock as their backer the credibility was blown.

We have been told several things along the way that have made this bid sound all 'cosy', and promising.I don't think we can take the early indications and information to have been written in a tablet of salt. "Several hundred million",one investor or consortium ?How often has that particular facet of the bid changed ?

The young lad could of course be the founder , or administrator of a football fans forum and driven to insanity, drink or drugs (take your pick) by the posters during the collapse of the club. Events are compounded by either a)abuse he receives after either banning those responsible or b)facing legal proceedings after an antisemitic post during a potential takeover. All characters portrayed are of course entirely fictional and not to be based on anyone living or dead.

Mills, now at Doncaster and valued at £2,5m.Hardly falling off the radar.Infact he's one of the few to succeed after leaving.

Consortium with 19Canteen,and Sundance perhaps ? No perhaps that is no more likely than Lowe and Wilde ever working together.
-
"FACT", or speculation ? Not that "FACT" isn't also speculation on here,it just means you've heard it somewhere else first.

We have been here before : http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=13422&highlight=swiss but still no nearer the identity.

Only fractionally more likely a candidate than Paul Allen I would have thought. But who knows ? I thought one of the more credible posters on here - I will refrain from saddling them with the ITK label - suggested it was a wealthy Swiss family, who wanted to invest into SFC (as a "family club " again). So perhaps the Ernesto possibility 'has legs'. Must be other wealthy Swiss families who match the criterion. Presumably we have discounted the Vega possibility. NB: PLEASE DON'T REPLY WITH 'ROBINSON' OR PICTURES OF 'TONI'.

The one on the left, I hope that isn't Michael Svennson in drag.
