Spot on.

He makes a difference to how we’re able to set up tactically. The reason JWP & Romeu played better was partly down to the defensive structure we are able to use when you don’t play 2 up top. Had Armstrong started, he’d have played Adams or somebody else further up, leaving little pockets in the final third for them to find, like Chelsea did last week. I realise you have a problem with the guy, but surely even you can see the flexibility he brings to our tactics. If we’d set up the same way we did last week, we’d have lost imo. It may not necessarily be Broja, but we’ll need somebody capable of playing like that next season, without that option we sometimes become too easy to play against.

Fraser Forster - Official: Signs for Spurs
Lord Duckhunter replied to stevy777_x's topic in The Saints
That was the best performance I’ve seen him put in. I was at Arsenal for the 0-0 when he saved everything, but yesterday was better. As well as he played that night, a lot of “saves” were just the ball hitting his ugly mug or body, yesterday he showed agility way beyond my expectations. Really decent performance. Going forward it clearly can’t be FF and McCarthy again, and whilst most would say Frasier is now ahead of AM the pecking order, the decision appears to have been made. AM is a perfectly acceptable number 2 at our club, but not when the number 1 is prone to dips in form and has only just started performing at the required level. I don’t think there can be too much criticism of the club over letting Frasier go, unless AM is starting in nets next season, that’ll be fucking criminal. -
Night and day from last week. I’ve said from the start of the season, Broja is the key. He lets us play with more flexibility and therefore can fill the midfield gaps better. With Armstrong up front that would have been a bloody disaster again. The big fella unsettles defenders, something Xg & other pony stats can’t measure. Also better balance having Perraud instead of KWP on his “wrong” side. Personally, I still can’t see what Mo does that Tino couldn’t, given a run in that position. Shift Tino into Mo’s spot, and bring Salisu back in and he’s got the making of a half decent defensive set up when we play the top 6.

It appealed to you earlier in the thread. Try and be a bit consistent man, otherwise you’ll make yourself look a bit of a plank. You called for overseas “clearing stations”, you’ve got your wish. Be happy, be nice. -
I took my nipper to the game during Nigel’s promotion season. The only milwall fan we spoke to was the guard on the train coming home. Referee gave us 2 penalties at the end. Off the top of my head I’m pretty sure that was the same day as the Muamba incident.

Load of old pony. Lol reverse ferret. Now it’s not the principle, it’s the distance. Soggy calls for the Govt to set up holding stations abroad, they do it, “no, not there” shouts Soggy. You’re a blagger Soggy, you spent days arguing for this, whilst I was opposing it. Now you’re somehow claiming it’ll play well with me. Lol, You need to start editing your posts from Jan time, we can still read them you know. -

Typical Soggy. He was calling for off shore holding areas abroad for migrants to be processed. Now Priti has done so, he’s moaning about it. Consistent as ever. -

Soggy does struggle with understanding the electoral system in this country. -
Didn’t the great job that Eddie Howe did prior to the money turning up, contribute significantly to the money turning up. I doubt he’d have invested in a fourth or fifth tier club. Twar makes implies that Eddie Howe just got lucky with the money. He built the club into a position that enabled them to attract investment. Just as the years he did keep them up and the revenue that followed have meant they haven’t fallen off a cliff like Barnsley, Bradford & Swindon have after their spell with the big boys. I wouldn’t want him managing Southampton particularly, but fuck me anyone who can’t see and appreciate his achievements at Boscombe is clueless. He’s the major reason they’re not the 4th division outfit they were when I moved down here.

Fucking hell, the pundits were annoying. “It’s disgraceful “ blah blah blah. Good old fashioned European tactics, a real examination of City’s bollocks and they came through with flying colours. Love to see Simeone take charge of a premier league club, someone like Everton whilst still at Goodison, would be ideal. Fucking hell, the Mersey derby would be fun.

Has there been a worse home performance in recent memory?
Lord Duckhunter replied to saint1977's topic in The Saints
What a load of old pony. X fucking g…pony. When Werner went through, rounded the keeper and scored the third, I turned to my mate and said “he’d have missed that at 0-0”. That’s the thing about great strikers, they score when it matters. The end of games, the decider, the equaliser . How can Xg measure the pressure each chance comes with, the consequences of missing, the state of play, the fatigue of the scorer, the opposition keeper. I’d be top of the Xg pops if I was facing Alex McCarthy every week. I played with a mush who was regularly our top scorer each year. Win 5-1 and he’d notch 2 or 3. Lose 4-1, he’d get the consolation goal. But he’d shit his shorts if he had a chance to win the game in the last minute. I suggest people use their bins more. -
Complete and utter pony. I posted regularly during Nigel Adkins, Poch and Koemans spell, when we won most weeks. I posted throughout Ralph’s “legendary” spell during covid. Hell, I even managed a dozen posts when we were top of the league, which took some doing it only lasted hours. Personally, I don’t know when people post, I certainly don’t study the results and the correlation between wins and posts, but then I’m not obsessed with certain posters. It’s actually nice that you care about when I post as your posts don’t normally register with me. I’ll keep my eye on them now though, you’re obviously a top top supporter.
-
My posting Xg has dropped a bit the past 6/7 weeks, but it’s nothing to do with results. In fact we haven’t won for over a month and I rarely posted during that period. So yet again, I call pony.

13,901 posts, we must lose a fucking lot. Either that our you’re writing pony……again.

Fuck me, Stevie Wonder doesn’t attend our team meetings, but even he can see how we’re going to play.

My daughter and snap dragon both had Graves’ disease and were both diagnosed at 21ish. Maybe a a case of coincidence in the timing of the vaccine, rather than anything more sinister. It’s not nice but once they get the balance and treatment right, things should be fine.

How many Premier league supporters would want to swap their manager for Ralph? Watford maybe, Manchester Utd (that says more about their incumbent than Ralph), who else? Norwich, perhaps but that’s touch & go, and I’m pretty sure they’d rather have Smith than Ralph in the championship. Leeds, possibly, but it’s early days. I don’t think there’s too many clubs where the supporters will be excited by the prospect of him rocking up and replacing their manager.
