  1. I’ve seen Emma Hayes mentioned by the odd one or two, but I agree, now is not the time.
  2. He’s the club captain, he’s an experienced pro, he’s the one who is meant to be driving this young players on, helping them a la Jimmy Case. Instead of that we get excuses from some posters, he’d be better with better players, it’s the crap players fault he’s poor. He basically sums the club up. Nice boy, good pro, tactically and emotionally intelligent, educated speaks properly, probably nice to his parents, but fucking soft, one paced & not nasty enough to play the role we need. Get rid asap and get a pirate in instead.
  3. Not on yesterdays performance he wasn’t.
  4. Prowse & Diallo probably look great in training & friendlies good touch, vision, drifting into decent positions. But when the muck and bullets are flying around they’re soft as shite. Same with a few of them.
  5. He had Jose Fonte, Adam Lallana, Ricky Lambert, Lovren, Morgan, Victor, Steve Davis Clyne, Luke Shaw, & a half decent keeper. This blokes got fucking Djneppo, moi, Lyanco, Che Adams, a Boy Scout as captain and a 12 year old keeper that couldn’t catch a fucking cold. He inherited a side that played decent football, that were on the up and had been mostly together winning matches the past 2 years. This blokes inherited a team of weak willed, mentally poor side that have got beat week in week out for pretty much a calendar year. I’m not saying he’s a world beater, but a bit of perspective is in order. Comparing now to Poch taking over is just ridiculous, Nigel was unlucky to lose his job, Ralph kept his too long. There was no mentality that needed turning round, no massive leap needed. Poch inherited, real men, proper players. Jones has inherited a bunch of soft arsed son in laws.
  6. We’ve been like it for the past year. Ralph had all preseason and we looked a fucking shambles.
  7. Absolute fucking pony today… And to think there’s Saints fans thinking he should have gone to The WC.
  8. No, but I’m expecting him to save the first one. In the words of Boycott, my mum could have caught it in her pinny.
  9. Fuck me. He chucked the first one in the net. The first goal was always going to be crucial, and he fucking gave it to them on a plate. It wasn’t ALL his fault, but his contribution was far and away the most telling.
  10. Yep, this modern shite is a right load of old pony. Hipsters really do think they’ve reinvented the wheel. Peter Taylor identified players that weren’t particularly rated, players where nobody really saw their potential and gave them to Cloughie to man manage and fit into a playing style. In the case of Kenny Burns they even turned him from a centre forward to a centre half. John Robertson was a ciggie smoking over weight reserve at Forest, Roy McFarland a Tranmere player, Dave Mackay a has been on one leg. In those days it was called Management, using their bins. There wasn’t a spreadsheet anywhere near the place.
  11. I wish Soggy would go on a posting strike, that’s one I would fully support.
  12. Some of us are interested in what egg gives a monkeys about.
  13. It’s strange isn’t it. They do it for a well established ladies competition. A competition that doesn’t need the hype,as it’s a well respected proper female sport.
  14. Nail hit firmly on head. I presume it’s the same sport because we have birds analysing the game because they’ve played it, we have a Saints ladies thread on the main board, goal scoring records are compared and success is measured against the blokes. Yet when the woeful standard, fitness levels & attendances are mentioned (that’s not even start on the goalkeepers)all of a sudden it’s a different sport. As you rightly point out, it’s either a shocking level of football or it’s a newish sport that gets way too much exposure than it should.
  15. The 50 years of TMS radio programme started with some bird commentator shouting “England have won the World Cup , England have won the World Cup”, like a demented fisherwoman as the chicks won. That was it, the first piece of commentary reliving TMS’ greatest cricketing moments wasn’t John Arlott, wasn’t Bothams ashes, Lakers 10 wickets or Bradmans duck in his last test match, it was something 95% of cricket fans didn’t even know had happened.
  16. Major honour 😂
  17. We don’t want to play them over 2 legs or in a final and at least it’s at home. It’s a free hit, so you never know.
  18. There’s been a pathway for young girls to play football for over 20 years, way before the present hype. My 22 year old daughter played, & each of my 3 boys played with girls until a certain age (can’t remember which age it was). It’s been “normalised” for years (the only thing that’s not normal is the coverage given to a sub standard sport), look at crowds around the country, there’s never been a higher percentage of them attending football. It’s got nothing to do with chick “role models” or the hype, and everything to do with the gentrification of the game & the modernisation of the facilities. For every girl that this Beth women inspired to ask Santa for boots, bloke players inspired hundreds and hundreds more. She completely deluded to come out with the statement she did and if Nathan Redmond claimed he’d inspired little boys to put boots down on his Santa Xmas list, the piss would be taken.
  19. Fuck me, 2 games, one of which came a couple of days after he started and the other in a cup that nobody takes seriously until later rounds.
  20. The statement was pony, not the sentiment. There won’t be hardly any little girls asking for football boots because of the chick game. You’ll see from the pathetic attendances that the chick euros won’t make a blind bit of difference to young girls love of the game. The mens game drives their interest and participation.
  21. Ok, I get it. Saints managers of the modern era who got close to or above a 40% win rate had similar profile: 1. They’ve all played internationals 2. They’ve all had ginger hair. 3. They’ve all had a brother called Erwin Jones out!
  22. Who did Claude play international football for?
  23. Who did Alan Pardew & Nigel Adkins play international level for?
  24. When Shilts was 12?
