  1. All joking aside perhaps Rupert should be invited. Move from The Dell, 2003 Cup Final. I hate the bloke but the one thing that's nagging away at me with these celebrations is that it's going to be Lawrie, Osman ect's take on the history of the club. If it was an evening celebrating Lawrie and his acheivements I would be there, but this is advertised as a celebration at the whole history of the club and should include Pre Lawrie, Lowe and the part that ML & NC played in ensuring it's survival. Of course there will be jokes about Lowe and proberly NC as well, but I hope it's a balanced evening.
  2. He used to be station manager. It gets a bad press but it's a pretty decent station (better than 5dead anyday). I started listening way back when Lofty from Eastenders did the drivetime show. Wasn't so obsessed with expros in those days, people like Collymore and Cundy get on my tits.Over the years they've had some great shows, Mike Dickin RIP was fantastic, and I thought Brazil was great with Porky Parry. The Rodney Marsh interview with Bestie just before he died was one of the most moving bits of radio I've heard. I think it's a good move to get Keys and AG provided they dont try to be too controversial, Keys is a good presenter and Grey does know his stuff.
  3. I like Parry and Graham in that slot, shame it's changing.
  4. I was looking forward to the Mayflower thing on Sunday, I just hope it doesn't turn into a NC bashing event.
  5. Have to laugh at all the exkeepers having their say. What about an exkeeper who played in the professional game and is now our Manager, together with the specialist goalkeeping coach (if we have onw) they know a bit more about it than us.If they think Bart is a better option, they'll put him in.
  6. Bad result for Skates even with a last min leveller. Derby are ****e.
  7. Need Orient to score AGAIN lol
  8. Need Orient to score
  9. 2-2 Weds
  10. My opinion is that Kelvin is a far better keeper than Bart. His starting position is normally excellant and he's a good shot stopper as well as a loyal and hardworking member of the side. I think Bart is a bit flat footed and his kicking is poor. To me there is no contest between the two, Kelvin every time.
  11. comment by ironite (U14423177) posted 1 Hour Ago Comparing Forte with Woolford....one has pace but no footballing brain or composure, one has no pace but genuine quality on the ball....pretty clear that Bristol are getting the better player here. I'm very surprised to be honest, but perhaps Forte will do a better job down south. Bigger pitch for a start, he won't get many games as a striker I'd wager. But I recall Adkins saying Forte had the potential to be an England international so he obviously rates him. Scunny poster on 606, according to him NA rates him.
  12. Someones posted Fonte to Stoke on the BBC, fingers crossed it's a wind up.
  13. I dont know where this mad dash for University for everyone came from. When I went to school only the brightest went to Uni, therefore the degree that they ended up stood out from the crowd. Employers knew that they were the brightest and the best. The rest of us went into apprenticeships or into jobs and just got on with it.Surley the more kids that go onto to further education the more the degrees are diluted. If less people went to Uni, then we might be able to fund them or more of them out of the public finances. I also wonder what happened to firms taking on apprentices to benefit the firm in the future. My eldest did an apprenticeship at Sun Seekers, funded by Sun Seekers and they've now had nearly 8 years of loyal and hard work from him. Everyone from the students to the largest Companies seem to want something for nothing nowadays when it comes to school leavers and leaving school. I just look at my mate who left school at 16 to become an apprantice plumber, in those days they weren't particulary well paid. Because of the obsession with further education less and less kids did the same, the result is, he's now making a fortune, turning down work and having 3 holidays a year. Let's get more kids into trades and less into Uni.
  14. One of the worst players I've ever seen in the red and white. He gave 100%, but that's a basic requirement in my eyes. I would give 100%, but shouldn't be seen anywhere near the first team.Poor signing, poor player, sums up why we are in division 3. Why is it Jermaine Wright gets stick and Wotton gets plaudits for giving 100% , at least Wright passed the ball to a red and white shirt occasionaly.

  16. Holloways Forest Gump act is wearing a bit thin now, this will put him on the spot. Let's see how he wriggles out of this one.
  17. Have a look at Ruud Gullit in the "did you smash it" clip, you could tell he was uncomfortable. I find the whole Gray and Keys thing cringeworthy, middle aged men thinking their somehow attaractive to women and having "banter" that is more akin to 20 year olds. I remember reading an article from an attractive star (cant remember who it was) telling a story of how 50 year olds George Best and Rodney Marsh were hitting on her backstage at some show. These were 2 real playboys in their prime, yet she said it was sad and she felt sorry for them. If they want to look sad and play to the lads mags culture in their own time then that's fine, but they shouldn't do it at work. Whether on air or off air, they were still at work. You just cant act like you're in an episode of The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club nowadays. For it to be "banter" it needs to be a two way thing. In the "tuck it in" clip, the fit bird just ignores him, there is no banter there. My Mrs is a midwife and some of the things they say about the women having the babies and their husbands/partners is frightning (and that's just what she tells me). It doesn't come out and is kept amongst themselves. However, if one of them got the sack for something overheard, then they cant come complaining about it.
  18. Not here, Clarke would split the Tory party and Cable has been shown to be a myth. From indiscreet talk to his changing position on the student finance proposals that he drafted (we had the bizzare sight of a minister thinking of abstaining when he designed the system they were voting on)Cable's credibility has headed south pretty quickly. For all this talk of the Tories not having a mandate, they were still the largest party (with a share of the vote that would have given Labour a landslide), even in Camerons "wet" Tory party having these 2 would be a step too far. Clarke would have had us in the Euro by now and Cable should still be in the Labour party, the right of the party would rise up if this was to happen, playing right into Labour/UKIP's hands. Even Cameron's not that stupid.
  19. One little point that slipped out was that Gray is sueing NOTW over the phone hacking business.Could this explain why the footage was leaked?
  20. The coalition have planned for some rocky times and some bad poll ratings in the coming months and years. It is the state of the economy in 5 years time that will decide the election, not a double dip in 2011 or job losses in 2011.The whole policy has been to sort the finances out by the next election and if they've done so, Labour will lose and if they haven't then Labour will win.
  21. Football is all about opinions. Personally I think we have seen the best in him. I dont believe he will get us out of the Championship, and if we are seriously looking to get through that League next season will need to replace him as our main man. I'm not saying he has not got a part to play, but his lack of mobility worries me and I feel we will need a better first choice striker next season. He's done ok this year and I think he'll get us out of this League, I just dont think he'll be good enough next year. I'm hoping he may turn out to ba a Steve Howard for us, but I have my doubts.
  22. If Clarke had got his way, I'd be buying my Friday night pint in Euros.
  23. I agree The problem nowadays is two fold. Since the Thatcher reforms the unions are not the political animals they used to be. Therefore a traditional source of Labour MP's from normal backgrounds who came up through the unions ranks from activest to shop steward ect, is gone. On the other hand the spotlight on their money making, background and personal life, together with low wages (compared to what they earn in business). Has put many traditional Torys off. Aslo added to this is the obsession the public have with people only being an MP with no outside work interests, and you end up with identikit MP's/professional politians.A concerted effort needs to be made to engage people in local politics and then give them a route to national politics. The party machine has become too big, and neither one wants independant thinking people, either left or right, to rise to the top.Instead of making a differance the back bench MP is just lobby fodder for the whips. Another thing that needs to be curbed is people being parachuted into the Lords to be able to become members of the Govt.Baroness Warsi is a prime example, fought a seat and lost, so the Tories made her a life peer and she's now a Minister without portfolio. Labour was just as bad, backbench MP's toe the party line because if they dont, they wont get on.
  24. I'm sure the lefties love of all people from "normal backgrounds" doesn't extend to Mrs Thatcher, a grocers daughter from a Liberal voting family.Who was brought up in the flat above the shop. Surely it should be about your views and beliefs, not where you come from. Ken Clarke maybe a "man of the people" but he's been wrong on most major issues. From the ERM, to prison reform.
  25. Also in stark contrast to Ed Balls and Ed Milliband. David Davis was brought up by a single mother in a Wandsworth "slum", John Gaunt was put in a care home. The Labour movement doesn't have a monopoly on working class high flyers, just as the Torys aren't the only party that is filled with rich private educated toffs. Balls went to a Private all boys school, Havard and Oxford, and is obviously more qualified than Johnson to hold this position. The Labour movement seem obsessed by where people came from, rather than where they are going.
