  1. If that refers to what I think it does, I kind of got that impression in the first book with all of that "Promise me, Ned" stuff. I haven't looked it up because I assumed it comes into the books later and didn't want to ruin it. there are loads of hints about it in the books, but none of them were in the TV version.
  2. Been reading the books while I wait for season 3 and quite enjoying them, surprised at how faithful they'd managed to keep the TV series. I just had a look at the new cast for season 3 and was pleased to see some of the people joining the cast, especially Diana Rigg, Mackenzie Crook and Tara Fitzgerald, but I can't say I'm that happy with Dennis Pennis being cast as Thoros of Myr.
  3. Redknapp in midfield? Instead of Alan Ball?
  4. This will be interesting. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19472438 My own view is that religious rights are pandered to too much. people choose to take on a religion, but the world around them shouldn't have to bend to make it easier for them. people shouldn't get different treatment in work or in prison because of their religious views. Anybody can claim any religious view and demand they are respected, but it can't and shouldn't have to work that way. If your beliefs make a certain type of work difficult for you, you either have to accept that challenge and be suffer with it, or you have to choose a way of life that makes your practice possible. So what do others think?
  5. Well, I can certainly see why some people had higher expectations for a better start.
  6. Dr Who was quite spectacularly bad, I thought.
  7. Only just finished watching the match, I recorded it, because I was out fishing with the kids (caught 2 mackerel, thanks). It was really annoying, we were bossing the midfield easily for ages, passing it around and building chances. WP, Lallana, Davis and Puncheon were all brilliant. Then, around the time Scholes came on, we started just panicking and hitting long balls, completely missing out midfield where we'd dominated before. We were going to lose from then on. We never really got our composure back after the penalty. It was a mess before the subs came on.
  8. i think the reason is that the club shop only buy in a limited amount of z's, thinking they'll never need them. Now they've gone and used them all up on Rodriguez, so he has to be Gaston until they've ordered some more.
  9. Don't really get it, sharp's goalscoring record is far, far better than rodriguez'. Is he really better or are saints just preferring the one who cost more money? Genuine question to those who have seen plenty of them both.
  10. I'd add to the list of things you don't really need to buy with a changing table. Lots of people buy a big piece of furniture just for changing nappies. we found it better just to have a cheap Ikea inflatable changing mat on the floor. Then you don't have the fear of the baby falling or rolling off of it if you turn your back to pick something up. Portable and easy to clean too.
  11. This was a great post. I nearly passed out at the birth of our second daughter. I was mopping Mrs Norwaysaint's brow, while one of the midwives was holding a damp cloth over my forehead. Childbirth is the most emotionally draining thing I've ever been through, I was shattered afterwards, God only knows what it's like for women. As far as slings and things go, there are a lot of types out there and it's a case of finding what suits you. Ours spent a lot of time in a Babybjørn, it's really bonding to wear your baby, it's one of the best ways for a dad to make a connection. Most can only be used after the baby has developed a bit, but I used one of these from a very early age, only around the house, but it was excellent. Takes a bit of practice.
  12. No, two and a youth player is fine by me if we're keeping Kelvin as number one. We've been fine with two for a few years. If both keepers get injured we should just get a loan in. I'd be happy with a better first choice, but not just with another back up.
  13. There's no good reason not to have them in with you, it's a pretty natural thing. Can you imagine any other species sticking its young somewhere away from it to sleep? It can work or fail either way and is down to personal choice. Some kids sleep through and some don't. A lot of parents pride themselves on how they did everything perfectly and their baby slept through and didn't cry, then they have a second and discover they were just lucky with the first, this can be quite funny if you've had to put up with all of their preaching about how it should be done, then you see how stressed they are when none of it works the same for the next one. All babies are different, don't listen to anyone who thinks they've got the answers.
  14. Forget all ideas of what's "fair" and who's turn it is, just do your best and do all you can. It's a time to throw all pettiness out of the window. Also, Mrs Norwaysaint and I made an early agreement that any irritable comments made to each other after being woken up in the night should always be forgotten in the morning. That one probably saved our marriage. Remember, you might feel at times like all of the efforts you go to aren't noticed and appreciated by your other half, but any pettiness or whinging really will be noticed and make you seem like less of a man. It's a time to have broad shoulders and get on with stuff without *****ing and moaning.
  15. Fruit is great and I eat tons of it, however soft fruits with stones in the middle, such as peaches, cherries, nectarines, mango and so on are strictly women's fruits. No man should ever be seen eating these fruits. Avocados are fine.
  16. No, I use the hand towel.
  17. I thought that when we played city. The main song I could hear was WTFILN, not OWTS. We were back in the prem, playing the champions, yet we couldn't get over a team two divisions below us. Move on, our rivals are the teams we play.
  18. I've got a strange feeling we'll end up only getting a couple of loans in after no more of our transfer targets work out. Based on nothing really.
  19. Why are people saying this is going on a long time? It's only been about a week, surely that's not such long time? It just seems longer because some people are spending their whole days obsessing over it. The longer this thread goes on, the less I find myself minding if we get him or not, I've enjoyed watching saints without him and I'm sure I'll continue to. At least now we've got some idea of what Saints are prepared to spend on the right player. So much has been delivered in the last three years, I'm happy with how things have been done. So far Adkins has done a good job with the team and Cortese has done a good job helping him build a good team. I don't really get what there is to complain about. I'd be delighted if the club carries on just like it has been, thanks.
  20. You do all realise that Saints haven't said a word in public about any bid and that any negotiations are being done in private? Why does everybody believe everything tweeted by an Italian or by a journalist? They can't possibly have a clue and are guessing the same as you are. We haven't got any facts at all, unless you choose to believe what may or may not have been leaked from the Bologna side. Stop hanging onto every tweet and just wait for proper news.
  21. Odd if true. 10 million euros for a one year loan? What if it doesn't work out and we don't want to but him after a year?
  22. It'll be interesting to see where this goes. He was clearly keen to come here and now Bologna have ruled it out. Will one of the big clubs be happy with the sort of deal we wouldn't agree to? Or will Ramirez be in the awkward position of having to stay despite having been so happy to leave? If nobody else meets their demands, they could be the losers rather than us. Anyway move on and find other targets. Jos didn't join us until later than this last year.
  23. Are we all ignoring that Gazetto della Sport are saying the deal's definitely off then?
  24. Doesn't seem to matter how much is delivered at Saints, how many times it's shown that we are on an impressive upward trajectory, how many times it turns out the team is being improved, how clear it is Adkins is happy with the situation, we've had so many years of paranoia that people are still too ready to believe every dodgy rumour they hear. i'm sure he's not perfect, I'm sure he's made mistakes, but have these people not noticed we dominated our division last year and that the signs so far are that we've got a competitive team in the PL again. Clearly we should all be running out of patience with Cortese. It's been miserable being a saints fan since he came along.
  25. Seems some of them liked our play and some of them disliked our support for booing an injured player, seems fair enough. We would be slating fans on here under the same circumstances.
