  1. But he's coming from a team that's higher than them in the league
  2. ...and Phil would tell you that if your drive is only 6 metres then he's got some really good mates that could give you a few lessons

If you think it's miserable outside, just wait till the match thread gets started. Happy New Year everybody.
  4. I'll take both
  5. You will, mate, you will.
  6. Is it the quantity of hair?
  7. Wot he said. Have a good one.
  8. I thought he was touting for an assasin
  9. Apparently the banks will be following suit. They won't be serving anybody who is paying interest. Or receiving it.
  10. Yep, with short-term debts of less than £10 million, and turnover of several hundred thousand a year, they will surely walk the league. As Nick reminded us earlier, just staying up in L2 this season is no good to them. Their financial modelling NEEDS promotion this season. They have deferred the "compromise" payments into the future in order to use the remaining parachute payments to purchase the club. The last PP went to PCC and Robinson instead of the footballing debts. They gambled on higher revenues from higher leagues to pay off the debts over 4 years. They are still f*cked.
  11. Buying votes doesn't come cheap these days, eh?
  12. Now I know how Milliband feels
  13. It's actually good to see a good old club like Burnley doing well. And Hull. Shining examples of what you can do when you put your parachute payments to good use after the shock of relegation. Who else was it that went down with them?
  14. Not true though, is it? Any good young players Pompey had were farmed out to other clubs so Pompey could pretend their squad wasn't big enough. That worked out well for them too.
  15. Agreed. Who wants facts, information and a bit of humour? We need ranting, raving, abuse, swearing and lots of made-up rubbish. Close it immediately.
  16. You've been reading those history books written and approved by the Nationalist government puppets, haven't you? You can still find copies in the second hand bookshops occasionally. I lived in Ethiopia for 3 years, there isn't really very much truth, or sense, in what you posted.
  17. To be fair, Turkish hasn't had 27 years of hard labour in a high security prison an isolated island ...... yet. On another note, a very unusually grey and wet day here in Pretoria this morning. As Eric said, the sky is crying.
  18. My 15 years of experience as a user and provider for the family, over 15 machines in that time. For build quality (probably most important for kids, depending on their age) is Lenovo. Not the sexiest brand, but the Thinkpads are tough. We've tried various versions of Toshiba, HPCompaq, FujitsuSiemens, Asus, Acer over the years, and the Lenovo is toughest. Not that I use one myself
  19. He was just following the party line: "We'll pretend to be a big club, and you pretend to be a good manager. Got it?"
  20. Yes, but not for 20-odd years. My memory says it was a decent enough hotel. Good location when I was commuting in and out of Euston.
  21. Wow, so much expert knowledge on here, I'm not sure if I dare to intrude. How about if I could answer yes to all the following questions: Am I a South African citizen? Have I lived in South Africa for the last 18 years? Did I live here for 2 years in the '60s under Apartheid? Have I met the late Nelson Mandela when he was President? Do I regularly visit friends in "the townships"? Does my wife regularly visit friends in "the townships" by herself without fear? Have we embraced the rainbow concept by adopting African children? Would that perhaps allow me to share my opinion? If it does then I can say unequivocally that was a truly great man, may he rest in peace. South Africa today has it's problems, but it is a better place than it was last year, and that was better than the year before that. etc, etc. I visit very very many countries in Africa every year, and without a shadow of doubt South Africans are healthier, wealthier and better educated than any others in sub-Saharan Africa. But don't let me dissuade you from agreeing with the loads of South Africans that you all work with every day, or met in the pub, or on a bus. I'm just an idiot with a British passport as well that stupidly wants to live in Africa. Clearly I don't understand the benefits of living in modern-day Britain.
  22. Aaah, so that explains why the board resolutely rejected every single request from the manager to inrease his budget by even a single penny more to bring in more players to increase the squad.
  23. He still uses the same phone as me
  24. Awford open to Pompey job OOH, I do hope so
  25. Nah, he's been here before. R.I.P. Ted
