Sometimes it's matches like these that kick-start a season. In Koeman's first season, we lost our first match against Liverpool, then we had a disappointing home 0-0 against WBA. Third match was Milwall away in the cup. I went. We picked a strong XI and were crap for 60 minutes or so, then Cork scored and Pelle got his first goal for Saints. After that, we won 4 league matches in a row. I think we should rest a few key players (Bednarek, Downes, KWP) but other than that, we should pick a strong side and try to get some confidence in the forwards. I would go: Macca Sugawara (or Bree if there's a chance we are selling KWP) - THB - Capn Jack - Taylor ------Lesley---Smallbone------- A Arma --- Dibbling------Edozie -------------Archer--------- Put Diaz on after 45 for one of the front three and put Fernanj on for one of the midfielders.

So annoying. I don't think anyone can say we should have won, but we also shouldn't have lost. Aribo just needs to kick it FFS. That said, did look like he was fouled. If we're going to play the two "strikers" we need to get them closer together. We're not good enough to have no proper focal point up there. P.s. Dibbling looked excellent.

Armstrong's touch and decision making is awful today. And Smallbone being a bit too defensive. I'd put Les on for Bonio and Dibbling or Amo Ameyaw on for Armstrong and have them and BBD play a bit more central. Could make the positional change and give Arma 15 mins there too, I guess. Have Fernanj and Archer as options for a bit later. First goal is going to be key.

It's not defensive. When we have the ball Stephens goes into midfield, Aribo goes very high and the full backs have licence to go pretty much anywhere. It's more fluid and probably more creative than the 433 we used to play, where the wide players would often get isolated and we would struggle to find space between the opposition midfield and defence, plus we look much more solid at the back. Please watch more closely.

Armstrong - 12 BBD - 10 Archer - 8 Edozie/Sulemana/Dibbling/Amo Ameyaw - 2 Smallbone / Aribo / Fernandes - 6 Downes and Les - 1 KWP / Suga / Taylor / Manning / Bree - 2 Centre backs- 5 That's 46 goals. Decent chance of staying up. You don't need someone scoring a shitload, you just need someone to take the chances we get and also to maximise set pieces as far as possible. Of course, if someone does score a shit load then that's largely the difference between bottom half and top half.

Well, bijlow me down. I think that's fewer teams we well finish bijlow.

Who negotiated this for us, Derren Brown?!
-
We had several good chances. - Smallbone / Stephens offside - BBD header - Armstrong dipping effort - Armstrong/BBD goal line heroics Plus decent half chances for Alcaraz and Archer. By contrast, Newcastle DID NOT CREATE A SINGLE SHOT ON TARGET, other than the one McCarthy gifted them. So you can criticise if you want, but you'll need to make a bit more sense if you do.

That was one of the most dominant performances I've ever seen from Saints in an away match in the top flight and but for one error and some goal-line heroics it would have got as a result. Anyone using yesterday's match as justification for a gripe at Martin is a balloon.
-
Fantastic performance. They had one shot on target all match, and that was obviously an aberation. We had three of four excellent chances and but for some back to the wall heroics and that aberration we could have come away from that having absolutely trounced a so called big side. Massive credit to Martin and the lads. The folk playing PL for the first time all looked in their element. Need to follow it up with a win as soon as possible though.
-
Well, fantastic performance. BUT..... And anyone saying we overplayed or its "Russball" is a fucking mong. We've just taken the piss out of a top 6 challenger at their place for 45 minutes.

Here's what is happening / may be about to happen. - Iran is potentially days away from having a nuclear weapon. - Iran does not fight using its own people. It uses terrorist groups, extremist groups, rogue actors etc. Iran is more likely than many other countries to allow a nuke to be set off somewhere without having to do it itself. - If Iran gets nukes, Saudi can, and will, call 19 nuclear warheads from Pakistan. They have a treaty. - Israel does not want Iran and Saudi to have nukes. - US does not want Iran to have nukes. - Israel just took out a senior person in Tehran, in an IRGC safehouse, using an undercover Mossad team. This is a huge problem for the Ayatollahs. - Iran will react to this. - Israel will probably respond by bombing Iran's nuclear plants. At that point, the world should be pretty glad if US forces are hanging around stopping all out war.

If you pay attention to what Trump has said in his recent rallies, you will stumble across the hilarious reality that Trump thinks an "asylum seeker" is someone who has escaped from a mental asylum abroad. Seriously. He's such an ignorant old moron.

Have the individual league match tickets been released onto the app yet? I'm in Soton - rare nowadays - when the Man U match is happening, so bought a ticket. I have an email receipt, but no ticket attached, and there are no tickets in my account on the app that I can find.

I agree. My main point was that people seem to be getting upset at the thought of getting soundly beaten away at Newcastle, but it's really not important. We will get soundly beaten on numerous occasions this season. The games that matter are the bottom half ones.
