Zabaleta was lucky not to get a red card. He had no chance of playing the ball. That's the key thing for me - often there is contact when players compete for a header and if both have a chance of winning the ball then a bit of jostling and leaning isn't a foul (obviously shirt pulling should always be a foul, if identified). In the Zabaleta / Yoshida incident, Zabaleta was the wrong side of Yoshida and had no chance of competing for the header. The only reason to touch Yoshida was to knock him off balance. Definite peno (although I agree that referees often don't give them). The Stephens incident - definite no peno. Arm in natural position and no real opportunity to get out of the way. Noble, red card. So, basically, the ref got everything right, except they should have had three red cards instead of one.

I agree to some extent but actually I think MoPe is the ultimate enforcer on this one. Assuming we do have an order defined pre-k.o. then if Tadic wasn't supposed to be taking it MoPe needs to make it clear to him that any more of that behaviour will result in a long spell on the bench. It's hard for Davis to do much out on the pitch, if a word in the ear doesn't work.

It's best for the team if Austin plays, scores a couple and puts some pressure on Gabbi. Unless Long leaves Gallagher is fourth choice striker and a run out against Wolves isn't going to change that.

Bertrand wasn't that bad at all. He did loads of great work in the first half.

For a first match in the country I thought that was pretty impressive. He looked nervous for the first 15 mins or so but once he settled down he showed the qualities we've been missing. Definite upgrade on Davis in that role.

Not quite sure why all the analysis was about West Ham there on MotD. Anyway, can't be arsed to read the thread but another match where we were comfortably the better team. We have deficiencies but even with those it's pretty clear we're one of the best teams outside the "big 6". If we can sort out centre back aerial weakness we should be able to have a good season.
