Agree with this. Lambert would not have made any real difference IMO. Lallana might have helped in the odd game but he seems to be suffering from the old glass legs again this season. I honestly doubt he will have another top-flight season as good as last season.

Apologies, typo above, NZ would be fine in Jan! Summer there then!

I wouldn't worry about accommodation too much in advance. It might be worth having a few places in mind but I wouldn't book anything beyond the first few days. Unless she really wants to go way off the beaten path then there will always be no shortage of accommodation with like-minded people in abundance (anywhere in Europe, SE Asia, Oz/NZ, etc). The amount of Irish around when I was in SE Asia was staggering! The most important thing will be to get flights and rough itinerary sorted, at least for the first few legs of the trip. For example, you probably wouldn't want to end up in NZ in Jan but that would be a good time to be in SE Asia, where you probably wouldn't want to be in late July or August. So, I would say the most inpritant thing is to figure out which coubtires she thinks are "must dos" and make sure she figures out the best time to be in each one. As someone suggested, a chat with a rep at STA would be well worth it - but don't just buy whatever ticket they try to flog without doing some more research.

This "Island Mentality" thread is odd. I'm not sure what point people are trying to make but there are numerous central European countries with far greater right-wing, separatist leanings than the British. The fact that they have a contiguous land border and we don't is neither here nor there. Does Front Nationale support Schengen?

Putting aside the silly ramblings, I was cheered by the further opportunity for law-abiding self-defence presented by this advert on the page The old credit card knife. A constituttional right. **** the mooslim loving liberals etc....

IIRC, no one realised Berkovic was on loan - we thought he'd been signed. It came as a shock to hear he was off to West Ham. Cracking little player though. Berkovic and Ostenstad were a quality combination

Probably just as simple as no one applying to have the charges removed. It's not at all uncommon for charges relating to satisfied debt obligations to remain registered. Or, they haven't paid it after all.

McInnes' statement is awful. The sort of amateurish, pseudo-sixth-form standard prose that Neil Allen comes out with. Embarrassing, frankly.

CLUB ACCOUNTS: 2013/14 - Saints reveal first profit
benjii replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
In fairness, Rupert Lowe got a bigger payout than Cortese (circa £660k, IIRC) for doing a far worse job. Cortese had a much bigger salary, mind, but proportionately that makes his payoff even smaller. Back to the news, and it's great to see Katharina providing this level of commitment. -
The England team is still pretty crap. As ever, we have easy opposition in qualifying. We would get done as soon as we play a decent team in a tournament. Baines, Jagielka, Jones, Henderson, Delph, Welbeck.... Players like that wouldn't have got near some pretty average England sides of yesteryear.

I'm not one to assert conspiracy or anything (in football governance, incompetence is normally an adequate and highly likely explanation) but the decision to take Mane's goal against Sunderland away from him is up right up there as one of the most baffling developments of recent time. He gets in front of his man, makes firm contact with the ball, and directs it towards goal from close range. It brushes off someone's boot, with no obvious effect on the velocity on the ball or impact on the likelihood of the 'keeper saving it. No one in their right mind who saw the goal in real time would think "own goal". The, on the other hand, you have scuffed shots, sliced shots etc that take a huge diversion thanks to a meaty thwack off a defender which are credited to strikers. Very odd indeed.

If you think we're gonna do it then take a trip to the bookies. Should be able to get 11/1 or 12/1 on Saints to finish top 4.

Koeman did get it wrong initially. We were far too narrow which played right into Burnley's hands as they could canter up the touchline and hit diagonals, which was pretty much their entire attacking capability. Fair play to Kelv - great performance considering he hasn't played for ages and I'm honestly not confident that Forster would have saved the shot from Ings. We need to play to our strengths a bit more - Mane is our best offensive player right now by some distance so we need to keep him central in my opinion. I would leave Pelle on the bench at Everton.

Outside Liverpool or, if you must park in Liverpool, a modern CCTV covered car park in the city centre (which is nowhere near the footy). Under no circumstances would I park on a random street in Liverpool.

4-1 Mane to score first. 80/1 Fact.

8 wins, maybe 7, will see us in the top 4. That should be the aim for now. I will worry about the Europa League once we can't achieve that.

How many penalties should a team get per season?
benjii replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
No doubt about they should have had more. So should we. Interestingly, we have not conceded one all season, which also can't really be right. -
Do we need Morgan and Vic for this? With Vic on nine bookings I'd be tempted to start with Morgan, Davis, Djuricic behind Tadic, Mane and Long or Pelle.

I agree and, from the little seen so far, I think he looks after the ball much better and won't give it away cheaply. I think he has looked v promising so far considering his arrival in a completely new country and his lack of playing time this season.
