Are we better off than when Crouch was here?
benjii replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
Agreed. Surely someone else heard this programme and can confirm what was said? -

Cue, "he's got an axe to grind" "he's a dinosaur" "of course the chairman should take an interest" "Strachan said he wanted to have a civil partnership with Rupert in his autobiography" "Delgado was quite good" "If Rupert had been chancellor there'd be no credit crunch"... ad nauseum. -
ps. some serious advice for the FBI... Smoke 'em out. Smoke those folks out.
-
I love the way the FBI has tippy-toed around the bum antics of that chap.

$25m for info leading to the apprehension of Bin Laden. I might email the FBI with "try Afghanistan or Pakistan again", you never know......

Very Very interesting (if you have any debts...)

If you lose your court case it will have cost you £450+. It seems to me that this company gets a lay-peron to give the agreement the once-over then instructs a solicitor. Why not cut out the middle-man and chose your own solicitor? -

For £450 up front + more to follow if you pursue the matter (unless your agreements are enforceable in which case you'll be charged £50 for each for the privilege of finding out). -
Why didn't Arsenal just buy him from Strasbourg for 1.2m euros?
-
That's utter balderdash. It's because they can't get served.

I'll be on the blower to my agent when he's back. Do you reckon he'd join? On a serious point, I would be absolutely delighted if we got £5m for him.

If Jan had written it, the word "boys" would have featured prominently.

No, I think it was something to do with the fire extinguishing system.

What will Lowes excuse be when Portvliet leaves "by mutual consent"?
benjii replied to Mole's topic in The Saints
We don't necessarily need one, we just need him to appoint a manager who knows how to make a side tough to beat in this league, and then keep his nose out of the footy. -
Surely Wilde would personally finance Jan's pay-off. It could be deducted from the £2million investment he's going to make if times are hard. Or Lowe could pay it out of the £563,000 termination payment pot.

I've only heard "where to" in that context when I lived in Cardiff. Never in Soton. I would be appalled to find out it was commonplace here.

I agree. Anyone who uses "journey" inappropriately is a knob. To be fair.
-
Yes, I agree. That was largely my point.

There seems to be a slight assumption that Iraq is unequivocally a failure. Maybe those behind the whole expedition are quite happy with how it turned out?
-
Well he did, he loaned out Skacel and Rasiak. Not sure what else he could have done in 6 months when faced with a relagation battle. If he'd implemented "plan Lowe" last season we'd have surely gone down.

Chat forum 'n'all that.

I hope you still believe this after next Saturday! On a different point it is entirely legitimate to criticise the current "regime" as, as has been quite clearly shown, there were plenty of other ways of addressing our predicament. If Lowe and Wilde had backed Pearson and said "Look, we're sorry we've done such a monumental job of ploughing this club into the ground and embarassing you all and the city but we think the outgoing board have got a great man in here and we want everyone to unite behind him and see what we can achieve this season. Yes, there will need to be some hard choices made but with our great support behind us and a unified club we think we can build a platform for the next few years." Instead we got "see you later, Nige", some guff about total football, some very odd signings, the failure to address our defence, a completely innapropriate home system, no obvious attempts to drive attendances, digs at the old "regime" etc... It's not the fact that we're crap that's annoying people, it's the lack of respect the management shows the club.

There was someone behind me once who shouted "snap him!" every time the opposition were in or around our box. What a dullard.

Fantastic post. I can take the team being **** if it is being managed in a comprehensible way, with the best interests of the club, the city, the supporters and the community at heart. The current situation is utterly bizare and offensive.
