Worker lied, got sacked then compensated
Viking Warrior replied to Saint in Paradise's topic in The Lounge
You give factual references hypo . You can ask whether the person is subject to current disciplinary matters . What their attendance is like etc . Yes your right you could get sued if it was factually in correct or say I'm not going to employ that knobshead again etc . Normally references are given in confidence . But the data protection act does allow the potential applicant to request to see the reference . But permission has to be sought from the author . -

The issues about references is also an interesting topic as well . There are many applications were potential applicants do not use their current employer if they are in work or if not their most recent . Some employers will not give references . Some keep it very bland . Many applicants just put friends down as references . When you request their last work place they are extremely reluctant to give you a name . And say they do not want you to approach them . I see both sides of the argument re references but in many cases they are not worth the paper they are written on . I had one recently . Basically said the person was hard working honest and hard working and x was sorry to see them go . Ask whether they would reemploy them again the employer said certainly not . Also the reference was not helpful . When the local press reported this individual had recently been released after serving a prison sentence for defrauding the company who the reference came from . -

Even when you follow the procedures by the book . Tribunals on a number of occasions can favour the employee . That's why the EAT are snowed under with review cases . Nothing is ever black and white in employment law and practices . -

HIs father and his fellow SFC owners should be held to account for not undertaking a risk assessment on potential dangers to ballboys with the club decision to get ballboys to waste time.
-
Fortunately for the ball lad, swansea held on to win, had the stoppage he caused allowed chelsjki to regroup and go on to win Im sure his fellow fans would have given the lad a good kicking away from the ground. He could have cost the swans the game
-
Just looked at the lads twitter account . Not the nice sweet innocent boy people are suggesting . Hazard was stupid for his action now he will get charged with assault . Swansea should be investigated to if what this lad is suggesting in his tweet is true .
-
I can understand the sending off , the tweet he sent 4 hours before the match is still available . He's 17 and is seen posing with a tin of beer . Is there an age limit for ball boys , but this scroats actions probably means the end of ball boys at games
-
Come on Bradford you can beat Swansea in the final
-
Started this thread in the lounge . The lad should just have thrown the ball to the player not hold onto and refuse to give it back . I thought the lad over egged his injury did the customary footballers roll . Ball boy should have been booked for diving
-
Watching the last 15 minutes . Hazard sent off trying to get the ball off a ball boy well ball teenager . Tried to kick the ball away from the lad as he wouldnt release it I think the lad has over egged his injury . Did the customary footballers roll. . I'm not sure what the rules are in giving a red card in such bizarre circumstances . The lad should have released the ball . Looks like chelski are about to be knocked out

Not ill informed bridge and co . I'm totally aware what ECHR is all about . I have to deal with much of the legislation that comes from there especially impact of employment legislation . They can give a ruling on say an employment issue in Spain . And then ultimately it sets the precedent in the uk. I would much prefer a uk bill of rights that enshrines the core HRA issues . Not interpretations given by the ECHR . I voted no first time round . Yes the EEC has been very beneficial . Degaulle said no to us entering the then common market . My opposition to the European Parliament is that it is too beurocratic and the world and his wife can get jobs there with out trying look at the kinnock family .

I detest Blair but not for the yes / no thing but his decision to go to war in iraq. and making millions of pounds becuase he thinks hes some magical conference speaker. Since he has been a peace ambassador , there have been to many conflicts breaking out and I dont see any evidence of him achieving peace.

There arguments for and against a referendum on Europe. I do believe there should be change, A lot of our customs and practices have changed not for the better due to euro politician decisions. I know not directly related but we do need to look at certain laws. ECHR rulings etc. Perhaps Cameron and Clegg will get on with setting out a UK Bill of Rights like Germanys Bill of Rights instead of relying on some of the decisions and precedents set by the ECHR. What will be important if and when this happens is what the actual question/s will be. Even Uncle Salmond has not got a clue about his question, if he has hes not saying anything and the Independance Referendum is next year.
-
Despite Blairs promises previously a referendum never took place. So what are the views of labout and wallace and gromitt "A referendum was expected to take place in the United Kingdom in 2006 to decide whether the country should ratify the proposed Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe. However, following the rejection of the Constitution by similar referendums in France in May 2005 and the Netherlands in June 2005, the UK vote was postponed indefinitely. The question was rendered moot when the constitution was superseded by the Treaty of Lisbon, which Parliament ratified in 2008 without holding a referendum"

I see a lot of the Eurpean politicians are moaning about Camerons speech. Is it because they need the UK to keep pumping the lions share of money into europe. with france and Germany they are moaning. They would not like to lose that amount of money as it would mean they would have to contribute more.

This trip must have been arranged a while back. Possibly Nigel new about it. or was it kept silent to the pont they appointed MP? You just dont hire an aircraft etc just like that. There would need to be a fair bit of forward planning.
