Crazy diamond . I must have been blind if that area was a red light district . I have stayed in the area a few times . It is easy access for the centre of Glasgow which is only a few minutes walk away . -

Chapel interesting comment about Rosyth . Salmond has stated that Rosyth may be used as a 2nd navy base for his new navy . So he either keeps the rusting vessels or he will have to dispose of them . But I don't see this second base happening for ten years if he gets independence -

Positive Pete the three isles are looking to do their own thing already . The initiative is called our isles our future . The three council convenors have gas a number of meetings to date and a conference . Salmond does not give a toss about Orkney as tidal energy has yet to take off . He is worried about Shetland and us giving massive subsidies to the wester isles -

Oh and the krankies think they will get a top table seat on the NATO board . Also their comments we are in the top three countries of having nuke weapons . We may have lots but if only the krankies will admit that the reason we have not been invaded is because we do have nuclear weapons . Only two and a bit years and I will be a Scottish citizen by right -

I have now had a further glance of this massive waste of paper document A number of key points I notice . is that the reason it is 670 pages log is he keeps repeating himself there are two hundred pages plus of questions peopke have allegedly asked. All he has done is add questions to the various policy points he has already stated in the earlier segments Talk of duplication. This document is so full of flaws and dupilcaition Also he rasies the point of reducing the legal alcohol amount you can have before you get done for drink driving. He mentions this three times and I have not bothered to scan the questions section. But one area this issue of the legal amout of alcolhol you can have in the blood, is midway through a section of imigration, Is he suggesting that people coming to thiscountry are more likely to drink and drive or is it someone elses fault for not carrying out a proof reading correctly and finally . I will oficially become a scottish citzen when the krankies get their way. Personnaly im opting for dual citzenship -

Just quickly read the defence part of the white paper . He wants independence but makes a claim he will keep the names of the Scottish regiments . He will have 12 of the RAF typhoons plus Hercules aircraft plus various assets from the Royal Navy . Has he forgotten one key element in the debate. These assets belong to the British armed forces I.e the uk not Scotland . I trust he has git the money to purchase all this hardware . He us going to have a 2.5 bn defence budget . Also the headline figure of 15 k defence force and 5 k reserves is only planned to happen after five years if he can afford the total numbers . -

I believe he has already a massive black hole up here in free prescription charges . I would like to know how the SNP can afford to fund such initiatives . Maybe it's because he has cut beds and nurse numbers up here . He carefully hidden away the true costs of prescriptions -

The krankies first announcement was clearly geared at getting at the hearts and minds of families . A guaranteed 30 hous a week child care for all 3 and 4 year olds and vulnerable 2 year olds . This is worrying firstly what happened to traditional parent hood and secondly the average worker is on 35 hours a week . So are the krankies introducing some quasi type of institutionalisation for all kids between the ages of 2 -4 . Good parent hood should be introduced not shoving kids off to the local nursery . -

So in a couple of years if the krankies get there way . I will become a Scottish citizen . However if I refuse then I may well be classed as an illegal alien . Also if I will have to have a Scottish passport w gen my one runs out in 4 years . I hope somewhere in the 670 page document it allows me to have dual citizenship -

They will have an independent military force of 15k with a small amount of reserves 670 pages worth of info What are the forums views on here about salmons now published vision ?

What's the difference between 27 inches and 30 inches
Viking Warrior replied to Viking Warrior's topic in The Lounge
Minty . There are lots of aspects to be considered re the judgement . There are those that advocate equality in the forces . There are those groups that believe our female service personnel should be totally inclusive part of our front line forces such as the infantry. They would get upset if those standards were reduced . As for recruit training there are different levels of fitness tests for female and male . Perhaps some over zealous plt sgt got his drill stick measurements wrong ? On parade all personnel should be marching at the same pace . Also there are different levels of fitness tests design to accommodate female personnel right through to the marines and paras As old lady saint states more should be done for our injured personnel both male and female . -

It is a joke batman . So if all the men have to lessen their to stride to 27 inches would they then sue the mod for pelvic and leg injuries . Have the lawyers not realised that not all men are 6ft and many are the same height as women -

Saw this story yesterday on the BBC The answer is 100k the us the cost of making RAF female recruits have a stride 3 inches longer than the regulation for females . It will add to the. Debate re women in the front line . Three female RAF recruits are to be paid compensation for injuries reportedly suffered while marching alongside male colleagues. They claimed parading alongside taller male recruits caused them to over-stride and develop spinal and pelvic injuries, the Mail on Sunday reported. It is understood they will receive £100,000 from the MoD. The MoD said the RAF had now reviewed its recruit training practices to reduce the risk. The women told the Mail on Sunday they had extended their strides to 30in (76cm) over several weeks while undergoing basic training. RAF official policy now states female recruits should not be expected to extend the length of their strides beyond 27in (69cm). The paper reported that lawyers for one of the recruits claimed the Ministry of Defence (MoD) had accused the three of exaggerating their symptoms during the five-year legal battle. As well as marching in step with male colleagues at RAF Halton, in Buckinghamshire, the recruits claimed that carrying the same heavy packs as males had also contributed to their injuries, the paper reported. 'Over 6ft tall' Claimant Tracie Davies, from Odiham in Hampshire, started basic training with the RAF in January 2006 at the age of 22. She told the Mail on Sunday: "The guys were over 6ft tall so I was over-striding to march in step with them. Continue reading the main story “ Start Quote Where there is a legal liability to pay compensation we do so” Ministry of Defence "When I started getting pains in my groin I was told to march through it, even when I was carrying a heavy pack which was almost the size of me. "I trusted the medics to know better than me so I carried on marching." She said she had suffered four pelvic fractures and was medically discharged in 2008. The MoD confirmed that a settlement was agreed with the former recruits on 7 August after they suffered stress fracture injuries.

Northern Ireland drawing a line under the sand

Some good points made Horley . When I went in 69 for only a week by the way . Due to the non requirement of all the fld ambulance . It was a friendly scene . And we were welcomed by the Catholics. But how times changed . In 72 it was different I don't think you can blame Bloody Sunday per sae but it didn't help . There were things going on on both sides that rarely got reported . But all the troops just put up with the crap from both sides . I would like to see the BBC balance the debate. . Ask ira sympathises etc for their responses and then they will give you very angry one sided views. The BBC reporter was using leading question techniques to get the answers he wanted . Hence an unbalanced programme . I did wonder what the programme was about . I really believe that it was anti army . The reason the guys agreed to appear was they wanted some recognition for the danger they put themselves under . But the BBC shafted them -

Yep very much pro British Army . Having served in NI in 1972 and was based in palace barracks for a few months . The, MRF , RUC and army lads would regularly bring guys into the compound before being interned or released. Members of the ira whichever sect would deny they were ever a member of the paramilitary .its became second nature to say not me giuv. That's why guys like the. MRF were fundamentally carrying out covert srvellience work. . I'm pretty sure they did not arry out shoot to kill patrols . In those days these the IRA would have a shooter . If they got shot or disappeared there were others who were there to spirit away the weapon . Yes innocents got killed but the IRA were responsible for the majority of the killings .but don't let that cloud your veiws. Remember the IRA bombed part of musgrave park hospital . A colleague also a medic was killed in the explosion . The BBC programme is very pro IRA . Why the brought in Bloody Sunday into the equation is beyond me . Have you seen the programme and did you ever serve. ? Also former members of the b specials were still around or joined the RUC. I don't hear. The beeb mentioning them -

Have just watched the programme . This programme raises a lot of questions . The BBC is very anti British Army and very pro ira and why do they BBC spend thousands sending a reporter and his team tracking down an ex soldier cleared of manslaughter . The beeb has spun this programme so far in favour of the ira it completely distorts the truth . Yes the MRF existed and were mainly there for surveillance and quick reaction . But the BBC have seriously spun this. They certainly were not a secret terror force . A lot of ira atrocities were avoided because of the MRF surveillance . I have to laugh about . As for the compound inside palace barracks well let's just leave it at that -

I watched part of the panorama programme on Iplayer in the early hours before \I fell asleep I will watch it again. I think the guys in the programme have embellished their stories somewhat, They referred to the compound in palace barracks as looking like a builders yard. and no normal soldiers were allowed in. That was simply not true. I will say no more It was a compound with high walls but didnt resemble a builders yard inside
