Agree-ish. The main problem facing the country is that housing is still WAY too over priced and wages are not even keeping up with inflation. Housing needs to fall by at least another 40% here in the South before household budgets start to add up. Not much fun if you already own a house, but when it is still cheaper to rent than to buy something is not correct in the market. Take my flat for instance. If I were to buy this place now I would need a mortgage of a minimum of £145,000 and a deposit of £25,000 to get to the 'market' price. To convince the bank to lend me the dosh I would need an income of £35,000 minimum and the monthly repayment at the LOWEST rates in history would still be more than the rent I am paying. So why bother,especially as at the moment I have no responsibility for maintenance. Anyway you cut it, the housing market is still way, way over priced.

Another good money saving tip, if you live alone in a small flat, is not to turn the light on in the bathroom when you take a slash. Just leave the door open and let the light from the rest of the house guide your urine to the bowl. Same with taking a dump. Every little helps

Agree RE land. But proper veggie cooking doesn't need to taste sh!t. I have mastered the art of cooking a red bean Jamaican curry. Have it once a week now. Do a big slow cooker worth and it goes three meals for less than £1 per meal.

The best, quickest and healthiest way to save money is to either quit eating meat altogether or to cut right back. I used to spend about £150 a month on food. Now I have stopped eating meat at home I am spending only about £60 a month on food. Seriously. £60. Make me own bread, by hand, eat a lot of lentils, beans and vegies. A much healthier diet and a huge saving too. I still enjoy a meat pie on a match day. Well, I used to until NC confiscated all the pies from SMS.

The CPI is a complete fantasy, the RPI is a little better but I've been keeping a spreadsheet of all my spending for the last 3 years and my blended average inflation rate is 5.8% which I would imagine is similar for most middle and working class people. And what with wages not increasing anywhere near that rate (wages haven't risen faster than inflation for almost 15 years now) there is real concern going forward. The single only thing keeping the economy's nose above water at the moment is that mortgage rates are at the lowest ever. Monthly repayments are also at the lowest ever and still the economy is struggling.

When I worked for a large company in London I adapted my crapping time to fit in with the cleaning routine. As soon as the cleaner came out of the gents I would dash in. Interestingly, I also calculated that by taking a crap at work at least 4 times per week one would save about £43 in bog roll costs over a year. Every little helps.

I was watching Newsnight yesterday evening. There was an interview with three 'women' wearing the full veil covering everything apart from their eyes. They looked completely idiotic. What sort of a moron deliberately goes out of her way to put two fingers up at the dominant culture? They are asking for trouble. They aren't wearing it for 'religious' reasons. They are deliberately setting themselves apart from their hosts. It makes my blood boil. Especially when I see soppy leftist idiots from our own culture trying to defend it. I won't see it banned, we don't ban things, but to have these doe-eyed muppets defend a medieval political ideology which advocates stoning adulterers and gays is beyond me. At least on Newsnight they had a rebuttal from another moslem woman who also did not like seeing the full veil worn. Now if only more moslems would speak out against it. Don't hold your breath though.

She must have been over 20 stone. She was eating a burger and was wearing a very old purple flannel tracksuit. I looked around for the cameras to see if Little Britain was filming a sketch, but no she was a genuine fad lardy pikey chav waste of dna. How the heck could her parents let her get in that way? More than likely because her mum is near 40 stone, smokes 60 fags a day and only leaves the council flat when she has to sign on. ****ing disgrace some people in this country.
