Its interesting how many posters who signed up on here and hardly posted anything previously have added comments to this thread. Just flicked through it, been at work most of the day, didnt see the game because of that and relied on a few texted updates and snippets of Solent. Can't comment on the game til I see the highlights, other than to say I did correctly predict the final score (albeit guessing that SRL would net our last-gasp equaliser.) Incidentally, one of our forum regulars now owes me two pints.

Assuming they were old enough to know what they were offering, and why. Which they clearly weren't. This behaviour was and is indefensible. I dont understand why anybody is trying to defend it.

The idea as I understand it was to publicise Savile's kiddy-fiddling, and effectively invite him to sue them. He didn't.

I quite enjoyed it, but Dave dropped a b*llock by screening all the earlier series as part of the buildup. Makes you remember just how good they were, last nights was ok in comparison but no more than ok.

Not that simple, is it. Typically, victims of child abuse are made to feel that they are complicit in the abuse, and at least partly responsible for it. Long before the paedo allegations surfaced, and I dont mean just the recent ones, Savile was accused of some pretty unpleasant behaviour regarding debt collections and "enforcement" around Leeds. Its not hard to imagine that someone with that background could seem pretty threatening to a young teenage girl.
