I understand it perfectly well. You however don't. You seem to think Asset stripping means selling all the assets at the same time. That to be classified as an asset strip you have to sell the buildings and facilities. Which isn't correct. Many companies find more value in the contents then in the infrastructure. Ours is a prime example of that. Our value comes from our players who are our main assets. We make more money by selling them then we would by selling the training grounds, the stadium etc. Our business is football and our assets are football players. By the end of the weekend we could have sold 6 of the 24 assets we have. All within a short time frame. That is asset stripping.
-
Oh dear.... So are we not selling assets SEPARATELY then Jeff?
-
The thing is as we are a private company we don't know what happens to that money. Does it all get held in one account for use within the club? Does it get withdrawn to KL? It will be interesting to see by the end of this season how much was reinvested in the club.
-
Then I suggest you go read the definition of asset stripping.
-
No I said it technically is one as we are selling assets. What I said I don't agree with is selling of infrastructure like buildings etc.
-
And you think the CEO can't say no? There is a reason we have notice periods.
-
Players are assets are they not? If you own a company and want to sell it off the last thing you sell is the building. The contents go first. Now I'm not saying this is what's happening here I am saying from a business perspective it could be seen to be that way. You can't flat out deny it because we bought in some cheaper options. In the grand scheme of things £15m isn't much when you consider we got £88m from last season's tv rights alone. We are in a sound financial footing. The club have said many times we don't need to sell but yet we are?
-
So if you were a manager at a company and your CEO came to you and said "well done on getting the company to a high level. But we have decided to let go of the top 5 guys in the company. We also are letting go the guys who we trained up over the last few years with an eye on moving in to top positions to take the company forward". You wouldn't think something was looking a bit wrong? In regards to a business model that's not good.
-
Wouldn't call them high quality just yet. I think they could be decent but are yet to play at the top level. The players who left/might leave are proven at this level. Plus didn't we pay £8M for Tadic and £5M for Pelle?
-
To be fair it is asset stripping. If a company sells the things that made them successful and sells the things that would make them successful in the future what else is it? Was just listening to the radio and some guy said it was actions of a club relegated not that of a top 8 PL club. Blind faith is a very dangerous thing. Something is going on behind the scenes and I think those that disagree are starting to look a bit in denial to be honest. Like that Iraq minister guy.

Really? When did he sell all our best players in one window?
-
Lambert, Shaw, Lallana, Lovren, Chambers, Schneiderlin, Rodriguez....

Oh no I agree. But it doesn't just stop at the players. If our regime is serious in saying it wants to progress then you are not going to do that by having cash sitting in the bank. We will need to spend a fair bit on replacements. Replacements which I believe might still be here if the board took a stronger stance. -

It's not about money. It's about making people stick to what they agreed. -

I respect your opinion but you can't run a company that way. It sets a precedent that you can decide to leave whenever you want. If they are unhappy and want out send them into isolation like we did with Puncheon. He came back into the fold after admitting he messed up. You got to be strong and stand up to them or what's the point of a contract? -

Why did we HAD to sell him? Couldn't we have said no then? While I'm not into the whole crisis thing I do believe the whole they are unhappy we have to sell excuse is pretty weak. -
According to Wales online http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/cardiff-city-target-jos-fonte-7504708

Massive cup. If you win that you get a bye to the champions league final right?
-
This seems to be the rumour going around. He turned down a new deal and wants to leave. If true I am sure it's just a case of him wanting to fulfil his ambition of playing at a bigger club going for trophies. Isn't that the excuse people have wheeled out for everyone wanting to leave?
-
And earned millions more

Every team sells players. There is a food chain and we are way down on it. However not many teams potentially sell 50% of their outfield starting line up in one transfer window. I think most can agree on that right?
-
Those 2 we signed didn't contribute to our goals or assists last year... I'd imagine Lallana and Lambert contributed to around 50% of our goals and assists last season. So are you implying Pelle and Tadic will score 20 goals and 20 assists between them?
-
What % of goals/assists did those 8 contribute?
-
Or how about making the players honour the contracts they have signed? Rather than doing what's best for the players how about doing what's best for the club? Anyone who thinks that's letting 5 of its 10 outfield players go is good business is crazy.
-
indeed it is crazy. I think what is worrying is that the board can't get them to stay. When half a team wants out something isn't quite right.
-
If that is actually true than it shows just how crazy these people are and are nothing more then terrorists. When told it was an airliner the commander guy said "Did you find any weapons, any documents?" which the guy replied it was a civilian plane and they only found civilian items. How anybody's first thoughts could go towards finding weapons when you just realised you killed 300 people is beyond comprehension to normal people. Then at the end he says they shouldn't have been flying in Ukraine and the fact they were meant they were spies. Pretty disgusting behaviour.
