Back on topic, I think this could be useful. Manu have been using Meulensteen in similar fashion for a few years and Ferguson seems to be quite content with the results. We'll have to see how good this guy is compared to Meulensteen but Ryan Babel was very happy with his training session when he was still at Ajax.

Anyone watching one of the games? I'm watching Inter - Panathinaikos. Quite a good game so far with some early pressure from the Greeks but Inter with the chances. Quaresma looks a good buy and Ibrahimovic is in good form.

I just love that babelfish translates his first name to Barrel. Should be his nickname if he signs for Saints IMHO.
-
Just for clarification, he's coming on a sort of try-out for two days to give technique training. There's no decision yet on him getting a permanent position.
-
Well, he's actually worked with some top players. Ryan Babel being a prime example and two other very promising players in Dutch football (Daryll Janmaat and Eljero Elia) are also mentioned in the article. Besides that two of his sons (who must have profited from quite a bit of his training) play for professional clubs in the Netherlands. He's also been giving technique training at a club in Slovakia owned by former Dutch international Tschen La Ling.

http://www.sportwereld.nl/voetbal/clubdossiers/adodenhaag/2617120/Ton_Jenner_in_beeld_bij_Southampton.html Ton Jenner, a Dutch coach who has worked for several top amateurclubs in the Netherlands and now has his own football academy. He's going to get a similar role to the one Rene Meulensteen used to have at Manu.

Never let a fact get in the way of a good argument.

You're just waiting until he is a big PL star so you can sell it to the Sun. -

The wouldn't see the colour in a colour photograph anyway now would they?

The most inept performance I've seen in a long, long time...

Guus Hiddink was very critical of him (and also several other Russian players) before the Euro's because they weren't in a good physical shape even though they were in the middle of the season. Pavlyuchenko then had to do fitness training on his own for a few weeks before he was allowed to train with the rest of the team again. If Pogrebnyak had been fit I think Pavlyuchenko would have been send home, but without him Hiddink didn't really have a choice. But to connect this little story to the here and now, I would not be at all surprised if Pavlyuchenko is nto fit at all. -
A historical moment in Zimbabwe, and all Mugabe can do...

Not sure that would help. Then the military would just take all the power in Zimbabwe. As for him harping on about colonialism, who else is he going to blame for the countries current state? himself? -

Don't think he'll go in January. End of the season yes, I can see that. But with him just having signed a new contract it is not that hard for us to say. Yes, you can have him. At the end of the season. I don't think there's an immediate necessity to sell anymore (unless the attendances are going to stay at the Blackpool level). -
Wouldn't S****horpe's player of the season from last year have some experience in that department?
-
It wasn't Cork debut. He played against Brum at CB.
-
He values pompey at $300 million??!! He bought it for only 32million pounds a few years ago! If he does maths like that I'm not surprised if he does have financial trouble.
-
Fagan broke his leg? I'd sue Guthrie to be honest. That was nothing short of assault, even if it was during a football match.
-
I think you're confusing now with the end of the season.
-
Sadly, no. But if you're not going to lock them up for the rest of their lives you shouldn't aim for making their lives impossible. Like I said, I'm all in favour of authorities checking up on previous convicted offenders but this information does not have to be made public. That just going to end in the neighbourhood rallying together to pest the person out of there. Its not a solution.

Appealing to the ref for a foul (which it wasn't). If he had gone for the ball instead he might have prevented the goal.
-
I'd say: prevent the rot. I don't think we're in that bad a shape atm. We lost two in a row, but before that we won two in a row (including the match against Brum in the CC). Its a bit of a rollercoaster atm, something to be expected with such a young squad.

There's a difference between a good result and the minimum. I feel with two draws we could steady the ship a bit. Not great by any means but the bare minimum.
