Would be the end of an effective Red Arrow service for the UK As for women on our Red Arrows... Can imagine a week in to a highly detailed display in highly expensive air show and a women turned round and said she was pregnant and/or had complications.. Why are women kept away from the Red Arrows and Air Shows in general With women... It's not about their capability, as of course this would not be a problem. It is a medical issue added to that if you go down the Farnborough Air Show you would see that you live out of each others pockets in air for example a Red Arrow plane would take around 1 pilot to air and that 1 has 0 sinks, 0 toilets and 0 showers. The sleeping and washing arrangements alone would make it very difficult when you are doing 1 hour display then 6 hours off 1 on, 6 off etc. No let up in that routine for minutes/hours on end it just wonT work or not have an effect on the overall operational capability. Which on a Red Arrow on operations that are mostly on public display is everything.. What do you do with their jam rags? Lol Sweden don't have Red arrows planes which is part of the issue. Also very few countries in the world (us the yanks and the Russians). Are capable of the Air Shows that we do. Which to put on a good show is essential. So verbal and sotonjoe you two seem to be the experts and not me who has been in the job for a decade. Why am I wrong? Why do women not serve on Air Show display teams the world over... When you serve on board a Red Arrow you are flying in close proximity to birds for minutes/hours on end. Not like if you worked in a bird sanctuary where you go home and away from said birds when you finish work. To that end you get subjected to doses of ear-popping as well a other potentionally harmfull atmospheric elements. It is a scientiic fact (which all nations with display teams follow) that the ear-popping received will potentionally cause more harm to the female ears than those of male. It is a fact that the constant dose received over a long period of time could very well caus harm to a womens sensitive ear drum. And that is a risk that no nation is ready to take. There us more to it but that is one reason with regards to the ear-popping on the job. There are plenty of others. Add that to the sleeping and living arrangements on what is a very cramped operational plane Going to air and conducting an air show in public on a Red Arrow is unique and can't be compared to anything else. I could go on but on my iPhone so will leave it there.

this information is very useful and had i had it, would have changed my reply, if only slightly. i am disappointed as, for some unknown reason, i was infracted for my above post on this thread. I spent quite a lot of time writing it and it was (IMHO) well-reasoned and detailed, and written with integrity, I would appreciate it if you would email the mod in question (Pancak) and ask him to kindly reverse the decision. I can see that you are a decent guy, a concientious man and you are a good father to your son. I do too. I can also see that you only want what is best for your son, and you understand genuine, constructive feedback when you read it.

It doesnt sound like your lad is pulling his weight on the pitch, and presumably in training. Ask yourself, what is it that he is bringing to the side? Seriously? It isn't exactly going to strike fear into the hearts of the opposition to see your lad crying his eyes out on the pitch, is it? Ask yourself how expendable he is, because the manager and, more importantly, the fans on the terraces will be asking themsleves these questions already. You may think that his own crisis of confidence is hurting, but what will happen when hundreds of fans giving him grief because he isn't banging them in like he used to? Unfortunately, as has been said, form is temporary, class is pemanent. It is at least possible that he struck a purple patch last year with scoring that has passed now, possible never to return, at least in the way that you are speaking. This new lad sounds like a right corker, and no one man, including your own flesh and blood, is bigger than the team as a whole. If it more beneficial for the club as a whole if your nipper moved on or retired from the game, then so be it. That, unfortunately is the bigger picture. Players turn professional younger and younger these days. It is too late for him now. Whatever he had, he has lost. Sad but true.
