  1. the first goal looked pretty soft to me if we had conceeded it i would not have been happy
  2. Yes at that point I really thought the club should fold as I did not really want the club being run by Pinnacle
  3. I agree it was just the goals I thought were not good not the performance
  4. Sorry but I was slightly disappointed felt that Oldham gifted us the goals. That said it was a very good result probably the most important of the season showing that we can beat reasonable sides away from home. Things seem to be going well no real injury problems and with a big crowd behind the team I think we will win on Saturday too.
  5. He did not play for us for many games as he was sold when Ted Bates bought Jimmy Melia in 1964 who helped us greatly to get to Div 1. However I will never forget Burnsides goal against Nottm Forest in 1963 QF Replay when he equalised after Saints were 3 0 down with 12 mins to go. An excellent player though I do remember him coming back with Crystal Palace in an FA cup match and upsetting us fans greatly
  6. It is a standard Website used by lots of Clubs like Ipswich Stoke City and Nottm Forest
  7. I am not sure there is a place called Wycombe Wycombe Wanderers play in High Wycombe Bucks at the Adams Stadium I believe
  8. I was listening to something on Radio 5 live this afternoon where somebody suggested that sports fans are open to wishful thinking. Which I think maybe common on this thread
  9. Yes I remember I went to that Test Match Viv Richards scored 291 and Holding was awesome it was in the very hot summmer of 1976
  10. Brian Johnston In the Oval Test of 1976, England -v- West Indies, Brian Johnston refers to the players Michael Holding and Peter Willey: “The bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey”.
  11. Like Lillie ct Willey bowled Dilley in a Test Match in Australia
  12. In most cases when a DOF comes in over a manager it causes problems I dont see why we need one really Pardew is unlikely to say it is a bad thing to have a DOF I would have thought. If a DOF is required I think it should be his responsibility to run football at the club and appoint the manager like Notts County may have done
  13. It is a reasonable approach I think keep the old manager bring in a DOF who then sets up the club in the way he wants it run. Not certain what happens at St Mary's if a DOF is appointed could possibly cause problems. Your analogy is slightly wrong I think because Wotte was in a similar situation to McParland
  14. It is going to be a nice day in Oldham on Saturday Sunny Intervals Max: 12°C 54°F
  15. They do look at Ipswich http://www.itfc.co.uk/page/Home/

    Graham Baker

    Yes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graham_Baker
  17. I dont see why he should not be a Saints Fan he was a Southampton lad and very underated on this forum very strong and skilful player probably one of best homegrown players of all time.
  18. Of course you are right in what you are saying but I still think the bank was dictating what was going on at St Mary's and football came a second best to reducing the debt.
  19. Funny enough so did I - then walked up West End Road reading it
  20. But if you look at our last seven or eight games we dont get to the Play Offs It is going to be close but it is important to beat the clubs in the top ten of the table something we have yet to do.
  21. The Forest Games in 1963 were pretty special considering we were 3 0 down with 12 or so minutes to go to Win at Spurs with 40000 or Saints Fans was a tremendous occassion.
  22. Precisely If we beat the Lower Teams we dont get relegated and to get to the play offs we have to beat the top teams. We are about 15 points from the play offs at the moment if we are less than 10 points from the play offs at Christmas then anything can happen
  23. I agree but we must start beating the top teams such as MK Dons and Oldham
  24. The only problem I see against us getting a good run is injuries as I dont feel our back up players are good enough. This year the injury situation except for Murty has not been bad but that has not always been the case in other seasons
  25. Most of the disappointment I think was caused by financial constraints in the past. Now that has been resolved I am sure we are going to progress. We had to sell players to meet the Stadium costs etc in the past now if we sell a player we can probably buy another to replace him like McGoldrick out Lambert in Surman out Hammond in
