Did anyone ever buy copies of records put out on Woolworth's own record label? I can remember going into Woolies before games at the Dell, to buy a stack of pick and mix, and hearing really poor copies of Top 50 hits being crucified by some unknown session singer. The cost per record was much lower than the real thing but there weren't very good. You never know these might be collector's items now!!

Carnival The company consolidated in the new building about 3-4 years ago Prior to that their workforce was spread around other locations, Queens Keep, Mountbatten House, Town Quay, Docks etc Understand that Soton City Council had to pull out all the stops to get them to build on the West Quay site. They were very clsoe to building a new facility at Whiteley as this suited their top man David Dingle who, I think lives in Sussex and unfortunately follows some team who have serious debts, not far from here.

As reports at the time indicated he looked useful going forward but not so good defending. Very similar to Danny Fox perhaps. As has been mentioned earlier, Kate Laven, the Telegraph journo responsible for this piece, used to live in Soton (Inner Avenue way) and primarily reported on cricket. I think she may not be a staffer so always looking for an article to get into print and be paid It may well be that she has picked up a little tittle tattle locally, converted this to a piece which has been accepted by the Sports Editor. Personally I would be amazed if Cortese was ingterested in Henry. Sure he has a reasonable standing in the game, is available and lives locally. However he is 'tainted' by the last court case (and previous accusations... see Tom Bowers book) Also he has no track recored of developing youngsters and will alienate a good number of fans thereby affecting the bottom line. As a financial 'expert' Cortese will have all this in mind. Two other points... are their kennels avasilable at St Mary's/Staplewood for Rosie the dog and how would Henry's appointment at St Mary's affect the Pompey News campaign to get him a knighthood??

I visited many years ago Abiding memories were: 1. Very hot 2. Heavy rainstorms (but dried up v quickly) 3. Very attractive girls (often driving expensive sports cars) 4. Having to stand up 'For Dixie' ie the Texas anthem 5. being impressed by the Cowboys stadium (Think they are now on their 3rd new stadium in 50 years) 6. Driving out to Southfork 7. Going to a play park and using an automated baseball machine. OK on the softball setting but couldn't get near the Pro Pitcher setting 8. Handling a gun when I had a fair few to drink 9. Going to a nightclub frequented by tall Texans in big hats. 10. Going to the Book Depository Hope you enjoy the trip!!

Liverpool (or Sefton Council to be precise) has also received a grant for £35m to dredge the Mersey to help build a new container terminal No way would such public money be offered to Southampton re the Anfield Grant. No way should this have been granted to assist a new football stadium build in the first place However it is spent on genuine regeneration of the area then at least local people should benefit

Any idea of the differential payment?. Appreciate this may differ dependent on wher you sit in the stadium but an idea would help Many thanks

I have to say the lad I bought my programme from was very 'customer friendly' and well turned out. However I wonder what arrangements have been made, going forward, for wet weather The programmes, where I bought from, were laid out on the floor with no weather protection. Whatever happened to the kiosks which provided suitable shelter for stock and seller. Wonder what the programme sales figure was yesterday compared to previous games?

Have it on reasonably good authority that Mr Cortese has been looking at development potential in and around the stadium area, particularly along the immediate river Itchen frontage. Understand that a river site has become available not far from the stadium Soton City Council has a strategy to 'gentrify' the river frontage between the Northam and Itchen Bridges so I am sure they would be keen to assist with any change of plan use etc. I wonder if this could be an investment opportunity for the club perhaps using our newly borrowed wedge? It would take a lot of money and co-operation but opening up the Aggregate wharves and adjacent properties for public access opportunities would improve the standing and property values around St Mary's

Totally agree with all this If these extra charges are deemed to be 'unfair' by fans, it will affect their propensity to go to games (particularly those which may be deemed to be of marginal interest) The credit card charge will be seen by many as broadly acceptable (but on a transaction not per ticket basis) The debit card charge is unfair as is the parking charge for more than 15 mins (when I got my Sheff Weds ticket there was only one window open and one person buying a ticket. However it took so long I was there for 18 mins (as were the people behind me. Fortunately I had been dropped off but would have been rather annoyed if I had to pay for parking) I actually paid by cash but it occurred to me that cash is not exactly risk free to clubs (unless it is at Pompey when it immediately goes into brown envelopes) so this perhaps isnt as secure as a debit card

I have heard one or two little snippets about Nicola Cortese which I've not particularly liked and, of course previous chairmen here, including the illustrious Mr Lowe, have had their critics, but I guess we have generally been pretty lucky, particularly when you look round at some of the Chairmen/Owners we could have had. Looking close to home, that nice Mr Mitchell (and his Russian investor and wife) at Bournemouth and the various ne'er do wells at Fratton Park!!!!!! We should thank our collective lucky stars but perhaps you end up getting what you deserve.
