  1. I wonder if the anonymous correspondent who penned a letter of support to Mr Lowe at the AGM is still in contact with our august ex leader? Presumably we can access Mr Lowes address from Companies House and let him know that the supporters/customers/rabble have not forgotten him.
  2. Will you continue as Chairman/President? of the Ex\Saints
  3. Saint Warwick, Fair comment. However questions have to be asked why these basically useless players were signed. For example we didnt need a third GK and signing an injury prone player rejected by a number of lower league sides was 'unusual' to say the least. I also missed out the Millwall reserve, Ryan Smith. Most fans would have argued that the team needed a big ugly defender, a big ugly stiker and someone with ball winning skills and energy in midfield. Mr Lowe, in his wisdom, decided to bring in an untried Dutch experiment, which was unable to deal with the rigours of Championship football. Also, according to the official Saints bsite, and an article on Schneiderlin in the matchday programme the transfer fee was £1.2m.
  4. Couple questions: 1. The straw that supposedly 'broke the camels back' was a bounced pay check for the GK coach. Is this the current one or the one Mr Lowe put on gardening leave? 2. Someone at the club, during Mr Lowe's most recent tenure, agreed contracts for Messrs Gasmi/Pulis/Molyneaux/Forecast and loans for Pekhart and Robertson. I would suggest non of these players have contributed anything to Southampton Football Club and probably cost say £2/£3k per week plus any add ons, say £750k over a year. 3. In addition, if things really were so parlous pre season, why on earth did we spend £1.2m on Morgan Schneiderlin and also offer Paul Wotton more money than was on offer at Plymouth, plus a longer deal?
  5. Pompey will have at least another year of Prem money plus diminishing parachutes therafter. Likely that they will unload a number of their high earners and possibly sell 'high value' players like Krankjar. Question is, would you as a builder, be happy to contract with Pompey for the construction of their 'new' stadium and training ground? Similarly will Pompey be able to negotiate sufficient bank loans Having said all that I guess we would swap their situation for ours at the moment. However if the Gods smile on us the situation could dramaticallly change by this time next year.
  6. I know missed the 'U'
  7. How about half dressing as country squires with the rest as beaters in honour of our dear departed Chairman! A big banner with the words.. 'RPERT LOWE FAILURE'... might hit the spot.
  8. Aidy Boothroyd summed it up neatly on Sky. Every team needs a stong spine. Us long suffering supporters would have agreed with this pre season. A big ugly centre half and striker are musts plus a Jimmy Case type player in midfield. In the absence of such players we are constantly bullied out of games by the opposition who generally rely on such players. Also when Poortveliet was here we could at least pass the ball. Now we lump it up front to players who are not physically capable of winning balls in the air. Euell tries but is not up to it. At the back our susceptibility to set pieces must be manna from heaven to opposing managers. It beggars belief that most of us amateur pundits could have forecast this pre season and yet those in charge shell out £1.2m+ for Schneiderlin and Gasmi then add a third GK, an injury prone midfielder, a Millwall Res winger and two waste of space forwards (Pekhart & Robertson) plus a left back who is strugglin g in the Reserves. In a physical League we have a selection of fairly small and slow players.
  9. Havent they got to finance the ground upgrade this summer and development of the Training Ground?
  10. Just say the highest bid was from a certain Harold Redknapp and friends. Would the supporters accept the situation??
  11. I very much hope there is a bidder out there who can inject suitable funds and stability into our club. However let's not get too carried away with the financial 'worth' of any consortium. QPR have, apparently, the wealthiest backers of all and yet they have not achieved a great deal on the pitch. Suggest we ought to rein in our collective expectations if, and when, new owners are known. However, at the moment I suppose, anything is going to be better than the current situation.
  12. Personally had never been too sure about Perry and co and their constant carping at Messrs Lowe/Askam and co and the Stock Market listings. It seems history will vindicate their stance even if there are questions about their methods.
  13. For what it is worth I have met Leon Crouch on a few occasions. First meeting I thought he was a numpty. Since then I have had the opportunity to discuss Saints issues with him in depth. Whilst 'in power' he was very concerned about the wage bill. He also came across as having SFC best interests very much to heart and has undoubtedly contributed more of his personal finanaces than most. I hope he is able to keep involved with the club but not in an executive position
  14. Brilliant level of support in such dire times. Well done all those who are going
  15. It was 7-1 in the mid 1980's. League Cup We were 4-0 up from the first leg (incl a brilliant long range effort from Charlie george) and it was 5-1 at full time in the return leg.. Watford scored twice in extra time. Ivan Katalinic was in goal. Mc Menemy was the manager. Saints were top division, Watford Div 2 (as was) We have sufferd a number of humiliating defeats at Vicarage Rd since then. One of these was a 5-2 defeat in which Griffit may have played.
  16. went past St Marys at 1315hrs, nobody buying tickets, ominously
  17. If the worst happens I guess us loyal Saints fans can look at the Wimbledon story for inspiration. More of their fans are watching them now, in the 6th or 7th tier than when they were in the Prem
  18. I am both a Saints and Aviva shareholder. My (modest) shareholding in Saints is no more and my Aviva shares have gone south bigstyle as has the endowment policy I have with them. That said I would be more than happy for Aviva to take a pragmatic view on the Stadium debt bearing in mind that Aviva must have spent millions on a ridiculous ad campaign telling, no one in particular, that they are changing their name from Norwich Union
  19. If Isla St Clair (the Scottish Folk Singer) married Barrie White, divorced him and then married Brian Ferry her name would be Isla White-Ferry Similarly if Fannie Craddock married our ex striker (now with Stoke), divorced him and married that ex Arsenal & England keeper with the pig tail, her name would be ....interesting!!
  20. Rupert will be there with another letter of support from the mystery man who 'sent' the AGM letter
  21. Apparently secret talks have been underway between Eastleigh FC and various local authorities to upgrade Eastleigh +FC capacity to 10,000. Eastleigh & Saints will share Pompey will buy Staplewood training with saints and eastleigh renting their Stoneham lane facility but with the pitch avialbale for occasional Saints and Easdtleigh reserve games The stadium debt will lay with Aviva. Eastleigh Council have earmarked a site at the old railway works to build a new sports complex if England's bid for the World Cup is successful
  22. :Pulis was given a thorough medical before signing...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................by the same crack team that examined Augustine Delgado's knee and Perry Groves hair
  23. Current BTC (originally Railways/Docks) Vospers Aerostructures ( originallyFollands) Esso (Holbury) Police (Hamble) Past Ford (Briggs Sports) BAT Civil Service AC Delco (now privately run) Hamble Air Training Pirelli Fairey Marine (back of Plough) then Mullards Missed Gas pitch in Millbrook. Any more details?
  24. Few of us were trying to work out how many works sports grounds, in/around Soton, there are remaining and those no longer supported by the parent company involved. Have got 3 remaining and 7 gone. Who wants to have a stab at meeting/bettering this total?
  25. Gordon Watson is at Leicester with Nigel Pearson Rueben Agboola works for Parkway Cars Franny Benali is in Property development Nicky Banger is Commercial Manager at Aldershot
