  1. Go to Lancashiretelegraph.co.uk. Click on sport then the Blackburn Rovers badge. Interesting to see all the competition clubs in this area have, especially with the 4 big Liverpool/Manchester clubs close by. Also a feature on Bolton targeting the Blackburn area offering up cheap price tickets
  2. If anyone's interested in how Football Finance works, and an honest appraisal by a club Chairman, have a look at the article by the Blackburn Rovers Chairman in online site for the Lancashire Telegraph. Just confirms how much players wages are affecting club finances. Surprised to find Blackburn have sold 18,500 season tickets
  3. Thats what I heard from a v good source who also told me that Ray Wilkins was being lined up as No2. The latter surprised me as I thought he was well established at Chelsea. However I am sure the person meant to say Dean Wilkins as this actually occurred. If this was the actual course of events, question is was Dean Wilkins Pardew's appointment or did he 'inherit' him?
  4. NC I try v hard to keep a balanced view on Mr Lowe but having been in his company when he was extremely rude to someone at St Mary's, for no apparent reason, perhaps my view is rather tainted. I do accept he may have possessed business skills which would have been useful if he not been quite so egocentric. One thing that I have not been able to get my head around from last season was the signing of Morgan Schneiderlin for a reported £1m when we were supposedly bust. I also query the Forcast/Pulis signings but understand these may be tied in with Davies and Bale transfers but never explained as such. Also the charade at the AGM when dear Rupert read out the anonymous letter of support was not the action of an individual with all his marbles intact.
  5. Ottery Well done that man. Think Bob Charles was runner up on the cap front
  6. Apparently Thomas was interesting Stoke at the time but they weren't prepared to pay Burnley more than £400k. Imagine Steve Cotterell's delight when our dear departed Mr Burley offered £1m+. Grasp the cheque, bank the £600k+ before someone changes their mind and get Clarke Carlisle in for £400k who helped Burnley get up to the Prem. 'In George we trust'!!!
  7. still no decent guesses on the saints Youth question. Some clues. The player still lives locally He was a right full back He was blond Appearances in early 60's (I think)
  8. Theory Players come to Saints, like the area, get in a comfort zone, switch off Other players go somewhere cold, miserable and north of Newbury. Cant wait to get away, play out of their skin.
  9. Rumour is it's going to be sold, along with other works of art, to finance the Titanic Museum at the Civic
  10. Was up on the 2nd Floor of St Marys recently and looked at the interesting old photos and Honours Board in the corridor outside the Board Room. Someone had scratched out the name of our esteemed ex Leader from the Chairman's Board. Funny to some extent but shame that a nice old wooden presentation board had to be defaced. Wonder if his predecessor, Mr Askham, will face the same fate? Interesting to know who did the dirty deed. For those who may be interested the Doncaster steam engine has been consigned to the basement and Lawrie and the Cup reinstated in the Board room Finally a question for the anoraks, which Saints Youth player has the most England Youth caps? Difficult one. I would never have guessed. Duncan, any idea?
  11. Can anyone beat the mighty Saints? Davis £1m Thomas £1m (A Burley joke!!) Schneiderlin £1m (Where did Rupes find the money?) Lambert £1m Saga £0.6k Hammond £0.4k Bart £0.1k Total £5.1m plus Agents Fees/Sign on/Higher than average wages All great value!! Interested if anyone can compare with other L1 or, indeed, Championship clubs
  12. Recent rush of money being put on him to be sacked. Apparently there has been one big bet which has had the bookies scurrying to slash the odds. There is some suggestion that a person very close to the club has been giving some advance info to a mate who likes a cheeky bet. Obviously no idea who this could be but would be proper nawty if true.
  13. Wonder how much Messrs Pulis, Molyneaux, Forecast are costing the club. Say £10k a week in total? None of them are likely to feature this season (or in future?) Shows how out of touch the previous regime were. £10k a week would fund the wages of a decent striker (or two?)
  14. Since Saints joined the Football League (just after WW1), i think this is the lowest position the club has been in ie bottom of the League 1 or, Div 3 in old money. If Duncan is viewing perhaps he will confirm. Sad state of affairs. We were truly poor from start to finish today and lucky to survive the shot against the cross bar and Lisbie's miss
  15. Presume we are not in the running? Each of the interested locations have been visited recently incl Portsea Island. The Portsmouth News reports that the Selection Committee toured the city and were 'impressed' by Fartton Park (???), Training Facilities (where - Eastleigh??), Hotels (really?? even Milan Madaric used to stay at the De Vere here in Soton when he was involved with the blue few!!) They were also taken by the 'very friendly atmosphere in the city'.. Sounds like Portsmouth has it in the bag!!!
  16. Now Chief Scout at Fartton park Originally shown as 'Ex Saints Scout' in Portsmouth News, now changed to Ex Celtic. Can't remember if he did anything good for us
  17. Understand this was written by a PR mate of Piers Morgan who, apparently, is a staunch supporter of the Fake Sheik. Can you honestly believe that someone from the dark side of Hampshire could be so erudite?
  18. He will return when the Gob*ites pick up a win which, unfortunately, is likely to be before we post positive points on the L1 table.
  19. All sorted now. No idea what i did but thanks to all who responded
  20. Mike I go into Microsoft Office Outlook email icon and that's when the blue circle appears temporarily. Once it disappears I'm left in limbo No messages appear whilst I can access emails on the other PC's in the house, I can't access my work's email details which are contained on my laptop
  21. Nick/Steve Thanks for in put so far. Orange provide the Internet connection to the house. There are two other computers in the house and none of these have a problem with emails The lap top is company provided (I work from home) and there is no fault elsewhere in the company, they all seem to be receiving emails OK Appear to be able to access all sites bar email
  22. Any young whizz kid out there who can offer some assistance to a poor old pen and ink man who doesn't understand the new fangled lap top thingy. I have a good internet connection but trying to access my emails all I get is a blue circle which rotates for a while and then disappears. I have tried switching the lap top off but this doesnt help. Appreciate any guidance.
  23. So Mr Storrie is promoting himself as Pompey's saviour. Surely he must have been working hand in glove with his close friend Mr Redknapp to spend money on transfers/wages way beyond the means of the club. In addition he was one of the highest paid Directors of any Prem club. Seems to me he is only staying to maintain this high salary and keep on station to act as a knight in shining armour as and when the new owner realises he has done the wrong thing
  24. The Echo seems to be reigning in our expectations. Wonder what they know to adopt this stance? Normally every new player gets talked up, even Young Pulis!!
  25. I remember seeing a clip of Ali Dia on South Today training at Staplewood just before the infamous appearance. I thought, at the time, he didnt look much of a player but obviously considered Souness knew more than me. As I recollect he almost scored but fluffed a decent chance. Wonder what would have happened if he had scuffed the chance in?
