Indeed, they also have a strange pattern of qualification rounds where AfCoN qualifiers and WC qualfiers alternate on occasions. Sadio went to thje AfCoN last winter and won't be going in January 2016.

To do what exactly? The UK has no colonies to protect, no vast stretches of territorial waters to patrol and there are no foreseeable naval combat zones. It will just lead to loads of idle matelots doing endless NATO and EUMAFOR drills. Look at our FREMM campaign, originally there were to be 19 I think, reduced to 8. We have put 5 afloat, sold 1 to the Maroccans, sold one of ours to the Egyptians although I doubt that they'll ever pay us anyway. The Aquitaine is not yet in full service even after ' years of "trials" and the other 2 are swanning about on promotional tours trying to get 3rd world nations to buy a couple. Every NATO drill is US led and they have tens of Arleigh Burkes to put to use every time. At this time there is no need for a great number of European combat vessels.

French national anthem to be played before Saturday's game
Window Cleaner replied to simo's topic in The Saints
He is not wrong, it's all got horrendously over the top. Everything is a drama to be played out and capitalised upon if possible. -
Player eligibility[edit] As required by the regulations, teams must be exclusively composed of national team players playing in their country's own domestic league.[2] As I said, a minor tournament for teams comprised of only national championship based players. The next ACoN is in Gabon in 2017
-
Doesn't sound at all right, they had one last year, 2017 should be the next one in err Gabon, this must be some other tournament because they are in WC qualifiers just now. NB The Rwanda tourny is just for African based players, sort of consolation competiton I suppose.
-
Is there an ACoN this year ? Not as far as I know anyway. 2017 should be the next one.
-
MLG reduced to "guest" status, hadn't noticed that. Business must be slow in the pedantry sector just now.
-
Why so exactly, the lad is a nippy forward (apparently). Now it would seem to me that Liverpool destroyed them with exactly that, well 3 of them in harness anyway. So we throw Juanmi, Mané and Tadic at them after all what else have we got. NB I've not bothered with that thread, didn't see any point in it.

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
Window Cleaner replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
There are many things about the whole affair that seem to raise a question or two; Like why the BRI and the RAID needed to fire over 5000 bullets against 2 terrorists and a woman who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time armed with a couple of grenades and a 9mm handgun. Whatever happened to the assault weapon(s) that they insist was fired at them? Did someone escape from St Denis and take the assault rifle with them or did it not exist in the first place? It's a bad affair but I don't know that the French are being entirely honest about it...not at all. -
I'd play Juanmi in attack, sort of player who'd trouble Citeh's back 2
-
Well the popular press and no doubt skysports seem to be trying to presuade everyone that it's a likely possibility. I expect Alps has been reading the football gossip columns, same as everyone else. The difference is in how you interpret the contents.

If it happens we'll get some serious swans, I'm sure we can find a suitable replacement if, and herein lies the rub, we pay enough to obtain someone of a similar standard and not go scraping around dutch bargain basements.
-
Perhaps, then again you have to ask yourself what exactly you'd need 13 Global Combat ships to do . There are no naval combats at all at the moment, there are surveillance missions, training exercises but apart from escorting the odd stray Russian destroyer off of the coast of Scotland there's not much on just now. 8 is probably enough, especially when you consider the advanced intelligence level needed amongst the reduced complements.

But players of real quality do not faff about in unders sides when they're 18-21 years old, they're up there in the first team group playing week in week out. Whether that's anything to do with our current manager or our past manager who knows. The only thing that you can really say is that these lads, once thought promising, are not breaking into the first team as well as their counterparts from other sides. A run out for 10 minutes in the C1C against some minnows or other doesn't really count in the greater order of things, you only have to look at fan reaction when we lose against a lower division side to know that. In the end we'll end up writing off most of these starlets and they'll wend their merry ways to Yeovil,Swindon and beyond.

He's played a few times this seson though. Depends if the 2 injuries are in any way related I guess.
-
Can't see why he wouldn't really, might need a move though.
-
But Cork and Puncheon were still relatively young when they were with us. Now for me the team seems to have lost it's soul, the giving 100% every time and playing for the blokes around you. Apparently Long has trotted out as an excuse that it was cold and windy on Saturday and Koeman blamed it on the atmosphere..whatever that may be.
-
Strange case Reed, must be approaching having more game time for various England unders sides than he has ever had for Saints first XI.
-
Need to get yourselves some terrorist attacks then, Hollande had to cancel all of the defence cuts programmed up until 2019 last week. My lad got an instant promotion as well.
-
Aren't you buying some P8s from Boeing ? Think they're already ordered.
-
Alli was signed from Milton Keynes a few months back I think, 6 million £ rings a bell, probably a Mitchell influenced signing.
-
Don't know that you need to be particularly special to do well in a Pochettino system. You need to give 100% and do whatever it is that you're asked to do. Violin players and soldiers and all that.. Probably why JRod looked so good at times.
-
Probably because Pochettino seems to know how to get the best out of players and Koeman has a dutch fixation.
-
Probably only those who have not yet reached pre-school. Too many small children attend football anyway, doesn't do anything for the "atmosphere". With prices as they are 8 is by far young enough.
-
Which is why they were so desperately trying to sign him of course...well if you believe agent and press talk that is.
