We probably had minimum sales numbers with Adidas, they are not known for their charitable works towards football clubs. Probably one of the big sticking points in renewing the contract with them for next season. The shirt, being what it is, wasn't all that popular was it ?
-
Ah no no it doesn't work like that at all. Their cut would be calculated on the estimated value of the whole deal not just on the cash element. If they don't like what we propose to them they'll ask for a tribunal to evaluate the deal and we'd have to pay them 25% of the total estimated value. You just cannot contourn contractual and legally binding agreements with jiggery pokery like that. We will end up giving Bournemouth upwards of 5.5 million £ in cash.
-
doubt if it would interest pahars though, bit of a step down for him actually. National team manager to U18 coach at Saints isn't really a career progression. If he wants to get on he really has to get some decent club management experience first.
-
But we'll still have to give Bournemouth 25% of the total so the cash element will be sorely eroded. We'd end up with the 2 players (and their subsequently higher wage bill element) and about 5 million in cash. Not the sort of deal we should be considering really. 25 million outright, we give Bournemoth their share and buy a really good replacement for about 15... quids in.
-
Very early for that sort of game though. I think Borussia are pencilled in to play Liverpool at Anfield the week before the season starts for us. Given that the WC for the major players doesn't finish until nearly mid July I can't see any German side getting involved in major matches a couple of days afterwards.
-
Indeed and we should not kill the golden goose for a ha'porth of tar.
-
and Gorman and Dodd, don't forget them. Anyway anyone who knows even a bit about football on a global basis would know that Pochettino was a major signing. Great player, respected everywhere that he went and had a promising start at Espanyol until they started selling everything that wasn't nailed down. We will regret his loss.
-
But their league performance that season was pretty poor I think,
-
I read that about Milner, seems like strange thing to do, then again it's only against Ecuador who are a bit hit and miss. Not too bad against the Dutch, not at all great against Mexicio. So Shaw might be up against Valencia in today's game, interesting test for him.
-
It's Dutch football, has no standing in my opinion. I can only judge him on his performances at Benfica and Valence and they don't seem very good.
-
Because he made it up himself.
-
Pfffffff it's only press reporting, I'll wait and see but I'm not at all keen on Koeman.
-
Never, not an England international anyway. If we do price him out of a move which is obviously desirable to him then the new manager will have a tough task in getting him back into the right state of mind for next season. I doubt that Lallana is an isolated case either, other players may want to leave, just the fact that they're not with the England squad means that there's less of a song and dance about them.
-
Strange that only Skybet seem to be quoting him though.
-
Why not, what makes him so much worse than Koeman ..honestly what do people know about either of them really. The fact that we're still interviewing other candidates(if we indeed are) tends to suggest to me that Koeman didn't ring all the bells when interviewed by those responsible for appointing a new manager.
-
I have no confidence in the people running the club whatsoever, still it's not the end of the world as you correctly say. Still think we'll be nearer the bottom than the top next season though.
-
Hmmm 11 goals and 9 assists in the Bundesliga last season, buy out 12 million or so, now perhaps people can see why I firmly believe that we will never ever get 30 million for Lallana.
-
Anyone who thinks that Lallana is worth 30 million is deluding themselves....he is not, the problem is that we don't want to give Bournemouth their ridiculous 25% cut out of our share. If that did not exist he'd be gone for about 20/22 million weeks back. We will not get 30 million for Lallana because he is not worth it, to get these over inflated fees there have to be several clubs battling it out to secure the player's services, doubt if that is the case with him.
-
But handing in a written transfer request does not guarantee his exit, that's still up to the board. If they're determined to hold out for 30 million then they won't get it. He's already overpriced at 25 (in my opinion). We'll be left with a discontented player on our hands as likely as not. Liverpool may want Lallana but they do not desperately need him, there is better for less, just not english that's all. As they have no real problem on the home grown players front I can't really see that being a major obstacle for them.
-
But not the method to achieve them. We have aims, we obviously have a budget but after that the method is not the resort of the board.
-
I am convinced that Hidinck has already been appointed as head coach of the dutch national side after the WC, sure that the dutch FA announced it back in March.
-
Exactly, whether that's Koeman or not I just could not say.
-
But unless I'm not well informed Lambert did not suffer the trials and tribulations of having his dream move obstructed by the "board" so we cannot possibly know how he would have reacted had that been the case.
-
Ah no, when you hire a manger in football you hire his philosophy of the game and the style that made him a suitable candidate in the first place, you do not imposed your way of thinking upon him. That will invariably end in tears, as it has done at Spurs,Chelsea, Barcelona etc in the not too recent past.
-
how do you know that, did you meet him in Sainsburys and he told you so. Far too much speculation over unknowns.
