Match drawn already, so that's no play again today. Whether that would have been the situation on a regular ground or not I couldn't say. Result is we only get 8 points from a pretty easy match on paper.

You are absolutely right there, the Thais, among others, shouldn't be in this tournament and 16 teams would be quite enough. But then it's about commercial issues again isn't it.
-
But then mens teams wouldn't just give up like the Thais last night. they were all too small and they knew it, gave up at 4 or 5 nil. Didn't Brazil get tonked 7-1 or something by Germany in 2014 ? Further back there were tournaments when qualifying for the knock-out stages depended on how many you put past Zaire , think the Yougoslavs scored 9 or so.
-
But the problem is within thec system of attribution of the places. From what I understood the Thais were qualified because they were 4th in the Asian Championship, perhaps there were ony 4 teams for all I know. They're classed 32nd or 34 th or something in the FIFA standings so in theory there are better teams who don't get a spot because of the geographical system of qualifying. It's the same as the men's world cup, better teams don't get a place because of the bias towards Central America, Asia and Africa.

An excellent start on Sunday against Notts. Now looking like the best we can hope for is a full day's play tomorrow allowing us to get some batting points as well. Season was going too well from a weather point of view, 2 washed out days have righted that then.

I've not watched a lot of women's football before but it seems to me that the style of football that they all seem to be trying to play is straight out of the old coaching manuals with very little personal panache at all. I mean it's watchable, but then so are U13 games. Watched both games yesterday and the number of stray passes and poor ball controls would send most coaches into fits of rage. Still there are a few reputedly good teams still to go on show, perhaps it'll be better. Mind you at least there was a bit of oomph in the Cameroon-Canada game, even a bit of rolling about on the deck.

And we sold for about 105 million so we actually invested nothing at all. But we bought players that we later sold for even more and so on and so forth. Execept for the last couple of years where we've just bought donkeys who've not grown in value.

Obvious since day 1 of her "reign". Wanted (or needed) the money and nothing was to stand in her way of getting it...eventually.
-
Can't even remember who's in our midfield actually, they were that discreet. Henderson came on at the end, didn't make much difference. That nonce Delph should be nowhere near the national side and Rice...well he's nowhere near ready at that level either. Circumstances probably led to such a poor side last night though. Normally we'd have Henderson and Winks in midfield wouldn't we?
-
England need better centre backs, that's all . Why no Keane last night? Better than Calamity John Stones really.
-
South Africa look as if they could be up against it again today. Both openers gone already with just 24 on the board. Is Markram just dropped or has he some sort of injury? Would have thought he'd be among the first on their list with the match being at the Aegeas and all.
-
Total looked pretty gettable actually but with the 2 early wickets it was always going to be a big ask.
-
Wasn't he in The Krankies ?
-
We'll see, although it looks like bumper warfare might not have worked so well this time.
-
Well that lad that they fielded against Spurs last month looked handy enough. Probably needs more experience before he's first choice though.
-
My, my looks like Bangladesh are going to beat South Africa, bit of a surprise there surely?
-
Although if we'd have got Walcott in January of 2018 we might not have saddled ourselves with the utterly useless Carrillo.
-
And he'll still want his 300K a week or whatever it is that he gets... so that's a non-starter for all but a few elite clubs with sponsors money to throw out of the window then, most of them wouldn't want him either..
-
Not based on the season he 's just had at Marseille he wouldn't. He is either toast or can't be arsed, whichever it is we need to steer well clear of him.
-
OK, just seems strange not to replace a value like Markram with an overseas players for a final. Perhaps as it was just a one off it wasn't worth it and that we have others lined up for the T20.
-
That's true but not being allowed to replace Markram with Rahane for the final was a bit of a blow. If I recall correctly Markram was a major player in the pool games. Made a fair few runs as an openers, pretty quicky as well and bowled pretty handily.

Oh drat, Donald out already, caught at cover. Now we have 2 slowcoachs at bat. This will not end well.
-
Especially looking at the side today. Berg batting at 6 I believe and Chris Wood gets a game again. Vince and Dawson playing at the Aegeas all the same. One Day cup seems to be a bit of a side show this season.
-
Means little really, the standard of Ligue is so low that any player with a grain of ability will look good in it. Don't watch a lot of French Football myself but I looked in at Montpellier-Marseille yesterday evening. Battle for 5th and 6th places, neither of them qualifiying for anything anyway. The game was just complete rubbish, probably League 1 at best. The state of the OM side brings to mind the old quote from Dolly Parton,"it costs a lot of money to look this cheap".

Am a bit concerned about today, don't think we have anywhere near enough explosive batting to trouble Somerset. I suppose Alsop will open with either Weatherley or Soames but they both usually seem incapable of scoring quickly against decent bowling. Might all be down to Rossouw and Donald, both of whom can either score quickly, or get out to their first ball.
