  1. As long as it's not Tora Bora
  2. Right, I know that subs can't bat or bowl but wasn't sure if wicketkeeper was judged to be a specific role not to be filled by a sub.
  3. Well tbh making them bat again will be an achievement already, given our last batting performance.. Can we have a sub wicky or does it have to be one of the original XI?
  4. Will be a bit of a blow if he can't, even if it's just to hang around with one of the others. Chasing 400+, with Soames gone after 3 balls or so will be hard enough as it is.
  5. So then: England will probably need to beat New Zealand or have a rain off to qualify for the last 4. New Zealand will probably not want to lose too heavily because that would put them in danger if Pakistan get an easy win in their last game, but as it's against Bangladesh, that might not be all that easy.
  6. Well yes, they're under some sort of UEFA control. They've already shifted a couple and I think they've got potential buyers lined up for Thauvin, Ocampos and Sanson. Plus we'd probably give them a pretty good deal on Boufal, maybe even another loan..
  7. There's some talk about him going to Marseille on the internet press this morning. Probably just some wild speculation though, didn't read all of it yet.
  8. Well they've got off to a reasonable start against Hants today, 52/1. With our batting that starts at 3 and fnishes at 5 they might pick up a few points.
  9. Excellent start by England today , then again India seem to be bowling extremely badly.
  10. Looking fairly likely but who knows how England will fare against India...think it's tomorrow isn't it?
  11. I didn't see him getting fouled a lot yesterday, I saw him losing the ball though, perhaps there was a sly boot in somewhere that I didn't notice. His team mates did seem to be reluctant to give him the ball when he was in space though, seemed to always want to go the other side or boot it to Marega, probably because he's a bit of a newcomer.
  12. Must admit to having seen a fair few games. Quite looking forward to the Italy-Holland game tomorrow. Should be well animated, couple of psychos on each side along with some pretty skillful ladies.
  13. Perhaps they're looking to boot Billy Sharp, just like we did eh..
  14. Offside used to be pretty simple, if you were in front of the lino who was level with play it was offside. Now it seems that a player who has say, size 10 boots might be offside against a defender with size 8s even though their heels are on exactly the same horizontal line.. Same with VAR penalties, if you blast it at an opponent who's 5 yards away and hit his/her arm or hand...bingo...spotty. Isn't that what happened at the end of the Dutch/Japanese game the other day ?
  15. Apparently the average US customer wants a bigger truck or SUV, none of yer wimpy European made rubbish then!!
  16. The French set up this court a year ago, there are others in Europe as well. It's common knowledge to anyone who can read really. https://economia.icaew.com/opinion/february-2018/paris-opens-english-speaking-court
  17. Vince looked pretty good for Hants in the season so far. Probably why he got the England call up for the warm up games. But then again Markram looked pretty great for Hants as well and he's not had a great WC so far. Couple of decent'ish scores and a few failures. Vince's problem, as I see it, is the same as it's always been, poor judgement on occasions, trouble is that now everybody knows it and good bowlers just set him up time after time.
  18. Vince may well be an international cricketer but he's just not an opener at that level in any form of cricket. But as England are short an opener they keep giving him a chance there. He'd probably be OK at 4'ish but that place is already taken.
  19. Well you might have spilled hot tea onto yourselves due to the visual shock and the emotional stress..... And to think our parents and grandparents survived 6 years of global conflict without so much as a tenner in compensation..
  20. Like I said, they may be open to taking him on but certainly don't want to pay anything or the totality of his salary. We're between a rock and a hard place. We either let him go now with some sort of salarial compensation or he'll be here doing virtually nothing except taxing our funds for another year. Let him go wherever he wants for nowt with a 52x10000£ gift.
  21. Some of these games are just batting practice for them. If Maxwell hadn't been run out they'd have probably easily made 400 today.
  22. Apparently Williamson should have been given out on 76, might have made all the difference. Still it's up to SA to review it I suppose and they didn't.
  23. Like some of Bertie Wooster's chums in the illustrations in those books.
  24. So with the result of that game it appears that whomsoever wins one of tonight's "no interest" games will qualifiy for the knock out stages. Imagine the absolutely dire Thailand beating Chile with Cameroon and NZ drawing and you have Thailand in the last 16. Don't think that'll happen though, Cameroon should get the spot easily enough.
  25. Sounds like the sort of thing he might say actually, along with "everybody else jack it in in my favour and let me take on the favourite". That probably cost him some votes.
