  1. Sort of player of which we should beware. These microleagues are just too poor to appraise ability from. We'll just end up with another shedload of Clasies, De Ridders, Boufals and Carrillos. There is talent in the English lower leagues, that's where we should be looking for 12 million quid players not Belgium, Norway or Cyprus. Might even end up like that bloke Everton bought last summer, can't play for them because he doesn't meet work permit requirements.
  2. Probably. Anyway, Abbott got Nash in one of the first overs after lunch so we're probably on our way to the win now.
  3. Probably, might have to take at least one of the seamers off to adjust the over rate though. Looks like we're 4 behind so far, think we risk a points deduction for that don't we? Dawson usually manages to make up the overs we're short without any noticeable difference in efficacity but Crane or Weatherley might just get tonked if there's nothing in the wicket for them.
  4. But only if the terms of the referendum included leaving without a deal without fail. Otherwise there will always be opponents. Perhaps voting in another referendum should be manadatory as well. £50 fine for not voting or something. Then the result would be more definitive.
  5. But the final decision has to be with the House of Commons since Gina Miller's victory in the High Court. Don't see how another referendum would change that. You've already had one with the result of 52-48 for leave. Evidently the MPs have shown themselves capable of not respecting the will of the people once, no reason to assume that they wouldn't do it again. So the ballot would have to contain some sort of clause about leaving with or without a deal. Cos the "deal" will never suit all the MPs necessary. Me personally I'd let the Scots wander off and do whatever it is they think they want to do and have done with their 40 or 50 whatever it is votes against anything they don't agree with. Scottish Nationalists should not have the right to decide the future of the rest of the UK.
  6. Well at least you don't have to choose, amongst others, between the Animal Lovers Party and The Decent, Law Abiding Muslims Party. In France there are 34 parties in the ballot, including 3 or 4 different nationalist groups, at least three ecologist groups, various shades of socialism and never socialism etc. Most of them don't even have any posters to put up and it's rumoured that some can't even afford to print their ballot papers.
  7. Got 2 quick wickets but it looks as if they're trying to shut up shop now. mind you can't blame them really. 5 more points might mean a great deal at the end of the season with Warks looking so very poor so far.
  8. Probably need a breakthrough soon this morning. Don't think there's actually much danger of them actually making 439 but they've scored a few already and might hang on until the close. Unless of course we're gifting them runs to keep them interested in trying to make the target.
  9. Definitely Leadsom, looks like a bit of a goer (can I still say that!!)
  10. Really? Right now I'd say that the UK's chance of actually leaving the EU is about 30/70. The people may want to leave but the parliamentarians don't. That's why Gina Miller's court action has probably sounded the death knell for Brexit.
  11. Probably, just assumed it was the same as last season.
  12. Only peripherally Hants related but Warwicks are looking nailed on for the drop. If we can beat Notts today then I'd make them favourites to join Warks in D2 next season.
  13. Although why the transfer fee of a player between two german clubs needs to be mentioned in pounds sterling is less than obvious. Most transfer fees quoted in the press and on-line are approximative at best.
  14. Me? Nothing; Sheffield United,3 million apparently. Mind you I'm not proud, if either LD Sports or the Bin Ladens want to dob me a couple of million I could live with it.
  15. Anyway, having an iffy sponsor can't be any worse than getting a loan from the Bin Ladens can it?
  16. People who don't know how to shop correctly. Above all those who go to the check out, unload their stuff and then go back to the shelves for something else.
  17. Except when they're carrying shopping bags that seem to be full of bricks.
  18. So a first innings lead of 71 for Hants. Pity they put on so many for their 9th wicket, most of them off Crane. Doubt it's his kind of wicket at all. Perhaps on the 4th day. Trouble is Soames and Weatherly don't score very quickly on most occasions. We'll need 250 + by tea tomorrow if we're to have a chance of the win. Edit: Well, we could have done without the loss of Weatherly before the close. Rahane will need to show his mettle tomorrow morning.
  19. Hants all out for 310. Just 22 added this morning then. Abbott and Edwards might well have a field day on this wicket.
  20. Not sure that that's the point of parking in 2 places. Where I've seen it it's obviously done to stop people banging your very (far too) large car with their doors when trying to exit their far more reasonably dimensioned vehicle, correctly parked in an allotted space. Round here we have a bloke who has a Peugeot 308 Coupé Cabriolet which is pretty wide so he parks it in 2 spaces to avoid getting it banged by car doors. Purely selfish. Governments just need to ban SUVs and have done with it, most of their owners just don't need them anyway.. If you've ever been to Geneva airport you'll know the problem. There most of the vehicles in the car parks are extra wide SUVs. No question of taking up 2 spaces there so you really have to be supple to get out of your car without banging the neighbouring one.
  21. Dawson and Vince in the England group for the W.C. Might leave us a bit short for the domestic games during that period.
  22. Still don't see what was wrong with 0703 or why they had to change it.
  23. Plus the VAT on a nice bike must be a tidy sum. Especially if you've a car (or cars) as well.
  24. This is about it. How much money have the current top 6 spent since Leicester won the title? Probably somewhere approaching a billion quid or so. It used to be possible to get good results by developping players and some astute trading. These last few years that's gone out of the proverbial window. The top side is the one that's spent the most money and I'd not doubt that the second side is the second biggest spender.
  25. "Solid start" has become painfully slow scoring. Perhaps it's a cabbage patch wicket.
