  1. Who says we have 35 million to spend in the summer ?
  2. We'll see when the full interview actually hits the OS. Strange that it hasn't already, can't believe that he's given a maverick interview just to the Echo.
  3. He may well be looking for a salary hike way beyond what the the board are initially prepared to offer. I believe he's poorly paid as PL managers go so he could even be looking to double his salary and those of his aides. Then there's the question of team strengthening, may be looking for some guarantees there as well along lines of previous agreements he may or may not have had wth NC. No football manager could possibly be content with certain situations that exist at SFC (like the GK options) and yet the board seem reluctant to do much about them.
  4. Everton are also a very old team, comparatively speaking, if they suddenly need to start replacing their old men and their loan players they are going to be in a crappy situation. In theory they could need to sign up to 8 players this summer and if you're looking for CL quality then that's going to be pretty costly.
  5. I'm not, it's the Daily Mail.
  6. Loan is not really the apt word for cases like Lukaku, it should be called "renting". His 'loan' fee is around 4 million £ for the season plus of course his salary in full, probably 70K a week'ish. Great if it works out, not so much if the player gets injured or is a bit of a flop.
  7. I have no idea, they are basically Germans who as we all know tend to react badly to ultimata.
  8. Can't believe he actually said that THFC is a possibility for him though. They have a manager don't they ?
  9. Of course it is but some (viz the "board") might well see it as an ultimatum.
  10. Might get his wrist smacked for that. 3 to 5 new players ? Main players indicating that some are more equal than others ? He's right of course as some have been saying for a while. This says to me, invest and sign up Mauricio or I (and perhaps others) am off to play for a top 5 side.
  11. All I can see that might be different is one player without a number with his back to the camera. Must have missed any Mexican looking blokes.
  12. Agent bolloax is a global affair nowadays.
  13. But was it not put about as being direct from a senior club official that Mauricio's contract is automatically prolonged on improved terms if we finish at least 8th this season. Why bother rushing to negociate if there is already an automatic process in place ?
  14. If Mauricio should leave which I'm sure he won't, we'll probably get a German manager, one who's doing quite well in the Championship perhaps.
  15. He is reflecting on the Marseille job which he has been offered, he's to let them know by the end of this week. Spent last week looking them over.
  16. A lot of the purchase prices are wrong anyway. We paid 2.7 million for Gazzaniga (I know I know nutjob price) Wanyama cost over 12 million, Mayuka over 3.1 million. Davis was 750K and JRod was 6.6 million or so. Forren cost us 3.5 millionish and we obtained about half of that in return, Lovren was 8 million euros with a 2 million euro add on, don't know the conditions that trigger that though.
  17. Doesn't work like that. As far as I know friends and families don't visit Diego. There is a contract charter company, don't know who it is now. There is no family housing and even military couples don't serve there at the same time.
  18. It's all explained in Bad,Worse, Worst. Derby went into the PL with what was virtually a championship team, think they had 3 chairmen over the season and made a few January acquisitions but at the start of the season they had a CC side and never recovered from it. They sacked Davies and appointed Jewell but all he did was loan out any decent players they might have had to reduce costs.
  19. You are obviously not aware of what happened at the time. It's all documented, there are even books about it. Derby weren't ready for the PL and made no attempt to be, they were even sold in the January to an American company. PL income and future PPs over CC wages helped to sell them for about 120 million.
  20. Probably just makes it easier for skate tarts to ply their trade.
  21. Rain ruled out any chance of a result though. I see Carberry is out cheaply again...at least he made 6 this time.
  22. Why Wanyama ? He's done nothing to deserve a starting spot over Cork.
  23. It depends on which definition of the word dregs you take. He was part of the small quantity left at towards the end of the transfer period, Garcia didn't want him at AS Rome and we were one of the few possible takers. It's even rumoured with insistence that he didn't even want to come here. Thus dregs.
  24. It's always been relevant, well to natives of Southampton anyway, I can't say for those who aren't from god's own city. When you played Hampshire League football a match between a "Southampton side" and a "Portsmouth side" was always a terse affair. The rivalry descended into every aspect of existence in the two cities.
  25. You obviously didn't go to the games in the 60s,70s and 80s then. They have always been our rival since the beginning of time (football speaking of course)
