  1. Agent bolloax is a global affair nowadays.
  2. But was it not put about as being direct from a senior club official that Mauricio's contract is automatically prolonged on improved terms if we finish at least 8th this season. Why bother rushing to negociate if there is already an automatic process in place ?
  3. If Mauricio should leave which I'm sure he won't, we'll probably get a German manager, one who's doing quite well in the Championship perhaps.
  4. He is reflecting on the Marseille job which he has been offered, he's to let them know by the end of this week. Spent last week looking them over.
  5. A lot of the purchase prices are wrong anyway. We paid 2.7 million for Gazzaniga (I know I know nutjob price) Wanyama cost over 12 million, Mayuka over 3.1 million. Davis was 750K and JRod was 6.6 million or so. Forren cost us 3.5 millionish and we obtained about half of that in return, Lovren was 8 million euros with a 2 million euro add on, don't know the conditions that trigger that though.
  6. Doesn't work like that. As far as I know friends and families don't visit Diego. There is a contract charter company, don't know who it is now. There is no family housing and even military couples don't serve there at the same time.
  7. It's all explained in Bad,Worse, Worst. Derby went into the PL with what was virtually a championship team, think they had 3 chairmen over the season and made a few January acquisitions but at the start of the season they had a CC side and never recovered from it. They sacked Davies and appointed Jewell but all he did was loan out any decent players they might have had to reduce costs.
  8. You are obviously not aware of what happened at the time. It's all documented, there are even books about it. Derby weren't ready for the PL and made no attempt to be, they were even sold in the January to an American company. PL income and future PPs over CC wages helped to sell them for about 120 million.
  9. Probably just makes it easier for skate tarts to ply their trade.
  10. Rain ruled out any chance of a result though. I see Carberry is out cheaply again...at least he made 6 this time.
  11. Why Wanyama ? He's done nothing to deserve a starting spot over Cork.
  12. It depends on which definition of the word dregs you take. He was part of the small quantity left at towards the end of the transfer period, Garcia didn't want him at AS Rome and we were one of the few possible takers. It's even rumoured with insistence that he didn't even want to come here. Thus dregs.
  13. It's always been relevant, well to natives of Southampton anyway, I can't say for those who aren't from god's own city. When you played Hampshire League football a match between a "Southampton side" and a "Portsmouth side" was always a terse affair. The rivalry descended into every aspect of existence in the two cities.
  14. You obviously didn't go to the games in the 60s,70s and 80s then. They have always been our rival since the beginning of time (football speaking of course)
  15. Same bowlers as last season and the season before, they weren't great then can't see why they should suddenly be this season.
  16. They've used him most for their Europa League campaign, the return from that will largely cover whatever they've spent on Osvaldo's loan. Then there's the Italian Federation who may have incited Italian clubs to take him on on a temporary basis because he's part of their WC group.
  17. Because they're easy to sign due to the fluid nature of the Italian transfer system, you never know who's going to adapt and who isn't. I must say that I feel that our "recruiting department" whatever that may comprise is pretty useless in the majority of cases. A new sporting director may be just what we need because whoever has been filling the role these last 2 years is pretty poor (IMO of course). Now you may attribute that to Cortese or whoever on the board but the guy in charge of recruiting (Mitchell is it ?) and the scouts need a real overhaul because,Lee, Gazza,Foren,Mayuka,Gaston and Osvaldo have cost us a lot for absolutely no return whatsoever.
  18. So a trip to Australia then.
  19. Probably insisted on being the highest paid person at the club.
  20. A very small one then, with all fall out, radiation and other nocive effects stopping dead around Gosport...oh go on then... Titchfield.
  21. But Derby had no real intention of trying to stay up, they were there for the money and the PPs. Didn't they loan out their entire first team group or something to save money and make a record profit ?
  22. It's not about hype, good players don't always adapt, Gaston is just the latest in a long line of players particularly from the Italian league who've not adapted to the PL. English football is different from most other kinds, particularly in it's intensity. Some great players have failed to make the grade in the PL and then gone on to show real class elsewhere again. We saw this last night in the Chelsea PSG game, not one of PSG's half a billion £ side could handle the intensity of the Chelsea onslaught once they'd take the lead, the second goal was bound to come. In many countries a game lasts for about 30 minutes in real time and only 1 game in 3 or 4 is a toughy because of the poor quality of many sides in the league. In the UK every PL game is hard and relentless, there's no hiding place for wishy washy part timers, whatever their talents might be.
  23. Can't really see Bournemuth getting to the play-offs. That would probably be at the expense of Reading wouldn't it ?
  24. Unsurprising because the "science" used was extremely solid, if indeed that's all they had to go on. Pity a lot of time was spent (or wasted if you like) running after plastic junk seen on satellite images which was pretty obviously far too far south.
  25. Can't really take too much information from a game where nearly 2 days were lost to poor weather, never much hope of a result anyway.
