Saints fan arrested and charged for shouting anti-Semitic abuse
Window Cleaner replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
Which ended with their famous banner at the Cup final a couple of years back. -
There's a lot of junk in those Oceans ART. Countless small boats have been lost there over the years and then there's stuff washed away in various tsunamis and even flooding in Australia which hangs about in the Ocean for years. Think I read about a cabin cruiser washed away in Australia about 5 years ago which turned up in Africa not long back. Plus the "122" items are pretty spread out. If you look at the assembled satellite photographs they represent an area 78 kmx78 km ie 6084 sq km which is a long way off the 154 sq miles being cited in the papers and TV.

One win against top 10 sides ALL SEASON
Window Cleaner replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
We could do a lot better without actually beating many more top sides; What we need to master next is winning against sides that I'd categorise as "hard to beat" (well for us anyway). The Stokes,Sunderland and West Ham's of this world. After 2 seasons back in the PL we haven't beaten any of them once. Last season we got 4 points against them IIRC and this season we've got 5. A couple more points against that sort of side will move us forward. -
Which was ??

Did you know that in France many clubs ( or the councils and police districts in which they fall) actually ban away supporters ? Imagine that really. No St Etienne supporter will be allowed to (officially) go to the derby with Lyon this season, that's like stopping us going to Pompey. Don't think OM supporters were allowed at the PSG game either a couple of week back, happens all of the time. -
Desailly was giving us his reflexions on the Manchester derby yesterday evening, among his pearls of wisdom was that Mourinho (who talks to Desailly) junked Mata because of his lack of pace. Is Adam any quicker really ? Then again home grown is home grown and Chelsea are desperate for some.

Nothing to do with racism, football has become politically correct and asepticised, you can't say much at all now apparently apart from "Oh jolly nice goal sir". -

I was a normal football fan, usually turned up well oiled, said what I thought about anything that wasn't wearing a red and white shirt (and a bit about some who were as a rule), never missed insulting refs, linesmen, police, stewards, opposition fans and players and possible friends and relatives of all of those. It was football, 2 hours of steam letting off after a hard week's grind. I would have got slung out along with my 4000 co miltoners. After that I went round to my in laws for tea and supper and talked about politics, local events and the latest scientific discoveries. -

I have reflected upon the past and have come to the conclusion that in my Milton days I would have seen exactly zero minutes of zero games. -
Press conference in Brazil to announce discovery in Outer Solar System
Window Cleaner replied to pap's topic in The Lounge
You could always look at Sicardy's web page, gives you some sort of more precise idea of the field they work in (well they work in observatories not fields !!) It's in English for those who worry about such things. You'll see possible lists of events for 2014/15, one of them has probably produced unexpected results. Mind you it's a bit mumbo jumbo, best wait for this evening. -

Ribas and Sicardy both work in the field of Trans Neptunian Objects (look it up) so it's probably  some unusual observation in that field. -
But the plane did not land, I presume you haven't seen the Inmarsat/AAIB projected paths, analysis of Doppler effects shows it must have gone south, then basic trigonometry shows it's rough path, nowhere to land but in the drink. The only possible landing point on that path would be the Kerguelen Islands but they're too far south and my colleagues tell me they've not seen a 777 there of late. There is no possible reason to continue to mantain that the aircraft landed somewhere unless of course you chuze to discount all the information which is to date available.
-
then we'll be getting 25p from Jake's Corner Chipie
-
I'm not arguing, just thought I saw a reference to West Brom's shirt sponsorship bringing in 5 times the amount of ours. It's certainly an area we can do far,far better in.
-
Not 5 times less than West Brom's though is it ?

Complaint against Peter Schmeichel's on MOTD2
Window Cleaner replied to Saint_John's topic in The Saints
Basically all of thse "top clubs" need 2 good players for every position, that's the model they work on. As MU won't be in the CL next season perhaps their requirements wll be slightly less. Anyway football pundits with a penchant for some club or other are like kids in candy shops, they want everything whether they have any possibility of eating it all or not. -
777-200. To reach the assumed area in which the plane finally fell into the ocean the aircraft would need to stay high, the lower you fly the more fuel it consumes, basic turbofan science tells you that. Plus there's the mysterious "final ping" at 08.19 which may have indicated that the plane either hit the water at exactly that time or for some reason the ACARs system was either intentionally powered up or engines stopping forced it into SATCOMM mode again.
-
Well there's something you can construct a nutjob theory from then, the Chagossians hijacked it and tried to fly it to their spiritual home. It would have ended up in the drink for sure.
-
planes land there all of the time, it's above all a US Navy Base, from time to time they do charter flights from the US to change the personnel and bring supplies. Don't know the frequency nowadays though, probably once or twice a week. Don't know why Pap is keeping on about this really.

Not at all, it's just a ref. Publicly humiliated, everyone can see that it was the lino who c*cked up anyway. Linos cock up every week and frankly some of those mistakes are far more decisive than who gets sent off for a team who were going 3-0 down anyway. Sending off Gibbs didn't change the end result in any shape or form apart from the number of goals they lost by.
-
Can't see what you're moaning about, we've not lost any game Mariner has reffed for us this season. 3 games, 7 points. Last Saturday wasn't his fault, lino saw the handball and obviously incorrectly identified the player. No skin off our nose who he sends off for the Arse, they were 2-0 down, it was a penalty so it was 3-0 anyway. They wouldn't have done much better at 11 than they did with 10.

We have another CFO now, can't remember his name, Rogers had quit/been sacked (don't know which) and was brought back after Cortese left.

Anyway the table is fluid Hull were 10th when we beat them back in November, I'm sure that there are other possible cases. -
Might even be over 100 million soon, if it isn't already. This year's football receipts will probably be around 100 million alone.

I think many wanted that John Williams bloke, not me personally because I know nothing about him. However being a "Saints Fan" seems to make one desirable for any position no matter what other capacities one might or might not have. Perhaps Mr Williams didn't want to be number 2 3 or 4, in charge of the rubber stamp.
