  1. If we can't win 37% of the time when we go in front how do you expect us to win when we go behind ? Team needs serious overhaul, need more experience in the side. I have to admit it I watched Stoke yesterday and would have to admit I liked what I saw, then again I like winning, they'll probably be above us next season. Good defence, hard midfield, strikers who know what they have to do with the ball 8 yards out.
  2. We took the lead against West Ham and lost 3-1, that was a bad,bad result but what have we learnt from it, nothing at all . Anyway you also need to be looking at the number of times we've taken the lead and then not won.
  3. Nope, I am not a fan of all this academy nonsense, everybody knows that, players like JWP just give me the shudders, give me a hardened 25 year old pro any day.
  4. but they aren't being applied now are they, we keep losing after going ahead, good sides don't do that, they get their noses in front and then gut it out. Our squad is too weak, we've known that since November and have done nothing about it, ie we've not learnt anything.
  5. Exactly, there is nothing positive to be taken from losing unless there are exceptional circumstances like ref awarding 5 or 6 iffy penalties. The art of losing isn't hard to master and we seem to have mastered it well. Still very miffed about yesterday, we could have put the game away on 3 occasions and didn't, we need to correct that as much as our defensive weaknesses. I am by no means certain that NC wouldn't have sacked Mauricio by now, football is a results game and just now ours aren't good enough..
  6. So this thread is about 'Football commentator thinks good player should play for a big club" right ? It's the way the football punditting world works, they don't seem to like talent being wasted on also rans and right now we are also rans.
  7. To be honest I feel that we've spoilt the ship for the proverbial ha'porth of tar. We needed 2 players in January but did nothing, with an expenditure of about 10 million we'd be significantly higher than we are today. I feel that perhaps our team will be distributed to the 4 winds next season and we'll not be anywhere near as good as we could have been this season.
  8. We have great players yes but we also have inadequate players in cover roles for them and no manager will accept that for ever, certainly not one with ambition. Our first team squad contains at least 4 players who have no right to be there.
  9. Well not really, we need better players at least in reserve if we want to push on next season. Just keeping MP won't be enough if we still have the same wafer thin squad, we need to accept that some of our academy players need another 3 or 4 years in reserve roles and buy the players we need now to replace them, same as about every other PL club in the land. When you look at teams like Stoke (I know I know it's not pretty) but they are hard side turning out results their youngest first team regular is 24.
  10. Why would he need to go forward when we were leading 2-0 ? We really need to get over this obsession that our full backs need to "get forward". We were in a 442 pattern at the start today, we had all we needed going forward in RL JR SD and AL. I would much rather we had full backs who defend and leave the attacking to those who are there to do that, especially when we're 2-0 up away from home at a top 6 side. If Shaw hadn't been marauding forward somewhere Lovren probably wouldn't have got caught out by Soldado.
  11. I didn't take note that Clyne was particulary poor today until his error, what was in front of him was poor.
  12. As it stands we just do not have the players to change the pattern of games. Mauricio knows it but he has to work with what he's been given.
  13. RL was pretty great in the first half today, some wonderful link up play in what looked like a 442 schema, but when he runs out of juice it's with a bang and not gradually at all. Mind you without JRod to give him the out ball most of the time everything changed. Bad tackle on JRod, hope that it doesn't affect him for too long.
  14. but we'll probably need better players to be able to keep him here. Good managers don't tolerate bad players, especially when they've no choice but to keep on playing them. Our squad strength is the one handicap to keeping Mauricio I think.
  15. Much as I feared in the build-up to this game. Without at least one of MS and VW we are open to all comers at the back. Cork is a decent player but he needs a strong, fast man alongside him. Our left side of defence is weak because Shaw for all of his ability isn't great defensively. If we don't have hard man in front of him to cover most of his defensive work then we are often exposed.
  16. We weren't pressing for more goals, we just can't defend correctly that's all.
  17. I presume you mean Soldado there. So was Ericssen, wish we had him, so if they want to swap him for JWP I'd not protest.
  18. Not even when we were 2-nil up ?? If we had just got tonked from the start it would probably have been easier to accept.
  19. Yes Maya is OK but today Lovren was very exposed, in theory he shouldn't even have had to go out wide to contest the ball with Soldado. It's the same old story, we are very frail when we're attacked wide on our left hand side.
  20. We'll learn when we have a better squad. 4 or 5 good signings are absolutely necessary this summer, if the owner doesn't want to finance them then she should sell us to someone who will, otherwise we'll risk doing a West Brom or Swansea next season.
  21. I know that we've not won a PL game this season without Morgan, absolutely pivotal to our side,
  22. JRod was injured today, never really recovered from that hefty tackle that he took in the first half. Lovren looked injured as well, played on though, might have done as well to go off, not sure that Mauricio really rates Maya and certainly not on the left which was already exposed by the wimpish performance of JWP.
  23. Marseille are running after Mauricio, he'd be wise not to go there though.
  24. No he didn't, he can't tackle and is useless in the air, he may be a very bright prospect as an AM but as a DM he is just a no-hoper.
  25. Of course we missed them, they are 2 of the best players in the PL.
