  1. he's just showing that he's not worth what a lot of people seem to think he is. Not too bad today but certainly not good enough for Chelsea just now. We need a new LB let alone them.
  2. no it wasn't JWP isn't good enough that's all, wouldn't have walked past Morgan like that.ll
  3. Yes, not even on the bench, Clyne is though. Team as foreseen. Davis Chambers Shaw lovren Fonte JWP Cork Davis Lallana JRod Lambert
  4. Eagles should win but they were lamentably bad against the Boys last time and have off days often enough, like the Vikings game. I expect them to win but it wouldn't actually surprise me if they didn't.
  5. who knows, 6 points between today and Wednesday(yeah right) might even see us field the first XI against Burnley who may just want to concentrate on their NPC championship battle because they've been slipping recently.
  6. How times move on, who in the 70s could imagine Birch Lawn ever being desired for property development.
  7. no, he's not tall enough. His biggest (and probably only) default is losing out in aerial duels when called upon, imagine moving that to CB, no thanks.
  8. but why a new thread? People seem to be just obsessed by starting new threads instead of using the build up thread which would seem to be totally apt for the subjects posed. Mods really have to clamp down on new threads soon I think. No offence meant though Roger, it's just an annoying forum trend just now...well it annoys me anyway.
  9. probably a box of Saint's Christmas Crackers
  10. we are a kaleidoscope team, don't think there are any really specific positions in our front 4
  11. perhaps he thought the 5 minutes additional time excessive, which it was. Sunderland equalised with the clock showing 94 minutes and 53 seconds. Can't remember anything exceptional that warranted an extra 2 minutes over and above the sub times.
  12. instead of the HNCs and what have yous that were actually useful in the sectors studied.
  13. M.A at Imperial !! We only had scientists when I was there, 72 to 79 though.
  14. Ah no, Imperial for me, my boy went to Polytechinque though, currently in Japan doctoring in AI.
  15. Strange how the word Polytechnique or Polytechnic if you like changes. Polytechnique (also known as X) is France's finest school, a sort of ancient military academy which takes only the brightest and best of the brightest and best, a sort of CalTech or MIT where they pay you to go, whereas in the UK I assume it's a sort of remedial affair for those who can't even make a scruffy tech uni.
  16. as always skintness is relative in football. In Everton's case I presume money isn't just and accounting notion as it is at clubs like West Ham and Skate.
  17. but Puncheon wanted to go there, I guess it's his spiritual home or something, we didn't force him as far as I know. If he's getting games and it suits him then why ever not.
  18. Everton have never been really popular amongst the general populace, they once had a bad reputation for all sorts of things, buying up players so that other teams couldn't get them, there were rumours (and I'm talking a long time back here) that Catholics would never get a game there (don't know how true that was, never researched it) and then there was the coloured players thing which ended with the signing of Daniel Amokachi in the mid 90s ending a spell of about 20 years without one. now whether that was coincidence or by design I couldn't say..
  19. So then showdown day for the Eagles and Cowboys. Hope the Eagles win and make the play-offs with the 10 and 6 season that I predicted but wouldn't be at all surprised if it all goes corkscrew and we end up at 9 and 7 and miss out because of our divisional record.
  20. And what is more they'd be sent off time and time again and eventualy banned permanently. Football today is as it is, if Chelsea and Man U could win the CL with hackers from Tooting Bec and Oldham they would but they can't so they don't.
  21. all 4 teams who have the festive 2 away games play on Sunday afternoon. So I guess it's about equality of conditions concerning travelling etc.
  22. Well I kinda think i just did. Queiroz was Fergie's assistant as well, don't think his first managerial appointment worked out all that well either. Thing is with Fergie you're an assistant and he's the manager, you make the tea and take out the trash I expect, you don't manage the team.
  23. depends why he isn't playing for Fulham, injured or suspended perhaps because if he can't get in in front of Stockdale then that's not a very good reference.
  24. evidently not, if they were of any use to man or beast they'd not be losing 6-0 to Hull. Pointless sacking Jol and then appointing a complete non-entity as manager or caretaker manager, shows a complete incomprehension of football. Being a good manager in Holland means nothing on the global scale, as we found out the hard way.
  25. it still is, on their forum where it belongs.
