  1. It's not always wins that decide relegation, more defeats. Wigan stayed up fairly easily in the Z010/11 season with only 9 wins but they also only lost 14 times. We're currently only on 11 defeats I think, most of them from the start of the season. So if we can managed to lose only 3 more we might well be able to stay up with only 3 more wins. That would give us something like 8 wins,16 draws and 14 defeats for 40 points. Still wins would be better and less nerve racking.
  2. why? he's been back from holidays for just a couple of weeks. Had a week in Spain and then another at Staplewood but he's had no game time until this evening. Hopefully he's of the type that recover condition quickly but until he gets some games it will be hard to tell. How many pre-season games did the others play 4-5-6 ?
  3. because he isn't fit. He's played no football since about November. Would just get taken to the cleaners by every EPL hotshot that's been playing every week for months. If he's going to get no game time in Seville we'd just as well said he had an injury and played him in the U21s the other day.
  4. More time on the pitch probably wouldn't improve his strike rate. Seems to be sent on to exploit tired defences and it works well.
  5. So it looks as if Norway aren't doing very well defensively, perhaps Vegaard will get a run out in the second half. At least he's done a couple of weeks training.
  6. Would I be right in thinking that at this moment there are no domestic fixtures in Norway though ? Pre season maybe.
  7. he's a strange one that Stu, all his hatred started when there wasn't a payment plan for season tickets in 2010.
  8. Indeed I find it very hard to see where the grudge comes from. FF warned MLT (or so he says) at the time that he was making a right **** out of himself. The bid which he associated himself with was just a bunch of shysters with no money behind them and even worse they were Portsmouth fans. So to believe in all that seriously you'd have to be a real idiot, to continue a running battle with the new chairman, who's organisation did have the money, over it you'd have to be an even bigger idiot. MLT was a tidy old player but right now he needs to shut it and assume a low profile.
  9. Potential chairman my ass. I'd be a potential chairman if the club could be bought with monopoly money or bottle tops. Said at the time that it was just a pipe dream and it would never ever happen.
  10. He did, until his Mrs told him he wasn't doing that.
  11. when is it not MLT's fault? He just can't keep his mouth closed, always looking to score points. If he'd have had half the obstination in his career that he he has displayed over Cortese he'd have won a whole lot more cups, medals and caps.
  12. probably because he's not very bright.
  13. I'd have to admit I have no logical reason for my dislike of Man City, just the way it is but it may have something to do with the obscene amount of money they've spent for relatively little success.
  14. right so Kompany is probably just a draft dodger then. Hope our "injuries" heal up as quickly. mind you they are absolutely desperate to win, hope they play a couple of not quite fit players and it backfires on them. Don't like City very much, probably only second to Leeds in my non-favourites.
  15. thought Kompany was out for a few weeks, Touré I wouldn't worry about, he'll have gotten into the false rhythm that African sides play at and will be way off the pace.
  16. you can watch it on streams but it's a bit boring.
  17. The 5 day rule only applies (or can be applied at the discretion of the national federation) if a player fails to show up without a good reason. If they have acknowledged injuries which may or may not get better by the following match the rule doesn't apply. It depends if the federation approves the reason for not accepting the selection and even then it depends if they're miffed about it.. So in Gaston's case a dead leg might prevent him from travelling to wherever it is and training or playing on Wednesday but be healed up enough to play on Saturday. Shaw turned up anyway so that depends on what he has and I don't know about Clyne. Clyne is the least of our worries anyway. Corker does a bloody good job at RB and we have Davis in reserve to replace him.
  18. I don't know, you'd have to ask Man U or Arsenal supporters that, they must be real experts. I know that German clubs have pulled at least half of the players that originally made up the selection for the friendly against France tomorrow.
  19. Maybe, maybe not, clubs pull players from friendly internationals for very little as a rule. Anyway England U21s wasn't a good place to be this week as Phil Jones has shingles, that's an adult form of chickenpox I think.
  20. Probably not with just a year and a bit left on his contract no. Will eventually replace Carrick at Utd but I don't know when.
  21. since last Saturday, that's why he was subbed, same as Gaston.
  22. Hah, typical Liverpool, goalie bribed to let in at least 3 and they can only score 1.
  23. Because he probably has some impressive looking stuff on his CV from Scotland. no-one realises just how crap Scottish football is nowadays. I mean even Skacel scored goals there.
  24. Newcastle already had him signed up for the summer apparently on a free but they just accelerated the move a bit for a fee of 3 million euros. His trouble is that he's inconsistent, right now everything is new and shiny, wait a while and he'll more than likely put in a dire performance or three. This is what puts top level recruitment off, they want the same performance game in game out for their 20 million.
  25. but we have just the match on Saturday and then another 2 week break. City haven't looked great of late and if we can get something out of that match we can recover and regroup for the Reading game on the 23 rd.
