  1. that's a lot of money for a League 1 player then.No wonder all the others despised us, there must have been clubs who's entire first XI weren't making that much added together in our League last year then.
  2. you wouldn't, I wouldn't,about 70% of us wouldn't but we don't pick the team.
  3. i don't, they'd get on my wick most of the time if I read them. Wouldn't get him banned for that though, not reading them is easy enough.
  4. If he can play with Hammond then yes he will be. NA will play Hammond and 1 other, count on it.
  5. Doesn't score enough goals to be a classed as a striker, maybe he sets them up for others but even at Bompey he was at less than 1 goal every 3 games. Wolves....well 6 in 42 and on loan and for Wales he hasn't done the business. Saints need a goal scoring striker cos Lambert won't score many unless we get a shedload of penaltiers again next season and I'm not sure Barnard is up to the level,we'll have to wait and see on that one.Connolly is but will NA play him? will he be fit? all questions which remain to be answered.
  6. Isn't Danns supposed to have turned us down 18 months back??
  7. Was he on a pro contract ?? Only pros on the released list I think.
  8. Probably pretty narked that Ox isn't in the England U21 group for the Euro 2011. Probably blames it on playing for Saints and not Arse or Liverpool. Dad does seem a bit pushy at times.
  9. In fact we should have a list of standard moans just like the Trappist Monk's joke book. That way you'd just have to post up a number and it would save a lot of keyboard activity.
  10. Doesn't play the same role for the bleuets, plays as one of 2 recuperateur/relayeurs both with equal liberty to move forward when the opportunity arises but the other one hasn't to go charging forward at the same time. 4-2-3-1 is bog standard in French football it's the base system and it's the formula which Morgan most easily drops into. However with Saints wanting, nay needing to play with 2 strikers all of the time because they don't have a real 'hole man' he may not be so much at liberty to get forward.
  11. The Euro U21 tournament will be a much better indicator really, let's see how he gets on, don't know how much game time he'll get though. If he has a good Euro then everybody will be falling over themselves to give Chelsea 750K for him and he'll be able to negociate a really good deal for himself, or rather his agent will.Still think he'll stay at Burnley myself.
  12. Doubt if they dob them out like Smarties to anyone who asks though. Now you could take a new seat out for an older brother or sister if you're in the 61/64 age group but then it wouldn't be a renewal and I really doubt if they'd want to believe that you lied about your age for the past 30 years or so to make yourself seem younger to attractive ticket office girls.
  13. Those having inititially budgeted for a price rise of 20% or so were a bit optimistic to be honest. There is a vast difference in player salaries between League 1 and the NPC. Now without having any real data to back it up I'd say that the average salary in League one can't possibly exceed £2500 a week, if that. Yet in the NPC I'd say it was at least £6000,so with your player wage bill more than doubling and TV revenue only increasing by a max of £3 million you've got to find the money somewhere unless you can count on a massive upsurge in attendance,Brighton's case I think, but not ours because we already get good gates and another 10% on top would already mean an average home gate of nigh on 25K. We already have some players on NPC pay cheques but by no means all and those that aren't are no doubt going to either want more money if they're good enough or will need replacing with better but no doubt more expensive players.
  14. Can't see Morgan leaving this summer, in January perhaps if he gets messed around again by NA, think he was pretty furax about getting dropped when he was on international duty last year. He'll be able to negociate as a free agent from January onwards, well at least he can start talking to other clubs about the 2012/13 season then anyway.
  15. Although in this case I don't think fear of death came into it, she couldn't accept that her rival was a better sh*g than she was and that was all her ex was interested in.This must have been in about 94/95 because at the time Celine Dion's "Pour que tu m'aimes encore" was a "tube" as they say here. It was all so coincidental because this was the exact same scenario.
  16. I'm in those mountains and believe me it's raining, stuck in a cabin 2500 metres up, pis..... no pelting down with rain, nothing else to do but up my TSW post count all day.
  17. It's not that I don't admire technically talented footballers, I'm in fact thair biggest fan but I do believe that many clubs are paying way,way over the odds for players who are totally unsuited to the football that they'll be asked to play.We (the English game) need to improve the technical ability of our own players so that our game improves in itself rather than paying shedloads of cash for kids who'll hang about Chelsea reserves for a couple of seasons and then be sold to Sporting Lisbon or Almeria at a knock down price without bringing anything whatsoever to our national game. I'm particularly pleased with the way Morgan has stuck it out with us. Knowing him vaguely from the Gambardella team at RCS I could tell that he was having a difficult time with us (I thought he'd leave last season) but in the latter part of last season I began to see the player I knew from RCS and the bleuets. I think we'll see great things from him next season provided he has NA's confidence.
  18. Nope I'm on a field trip and am using my laptop which is scarcely more advanced than a Commodore 64.It has sticky keys, couldn't say why, think those pesky kids must have "borrowed it" from time to time. Now they've both got state of the art wonder laptops and I'm left with the old junk that's no doubt had Ovaltine and fizzy pop split over it on too many occasions. So I got the title wrong and now I can't edit it,how shame making.
  19. I had an assistant once who got involved with a clairvoyant, the poor girl's husband had run off with a washerwoman or something like that and she was sort of desperate to get him back. When the usual ringing up and going round proved to no avail she sought psychic help. This involved burying chicken bones in his driveway and loads of other weird stuff. She used to tell us all about it at coffee breaks and the poor girl really took some ragging. What she didn't ever mention was just how much this medium was charging her for all these magical husband recovering cures, although she was by no means poorly paid it took all he salary for a few months on end, in the end she stole some cheques out of a colleagues handbag and we had to sack her. So the tale of this is be careful of psychics, mediums and witch doctors of all ilks, they'll tell you what you want to hear as long as you keep paying. Just to prove that it's not only idiots who get taken in, this girl had a doctorate from the Sorbonne.
  20. I don't even blame him for that, he was totally out of his depth against CMS anyway.Whoever gets him will get a real bargain, probably about 3 million all up , no bigger chancy punt than an unknown 19 year old from the Brazilian Second Divsion in my idea of things.Footballer transfer fees for young unknown overseas players have got completely out of proportion, most of them have only played half a season for Santos reserves or something and they're being touted at 15/20 million. So many EPL clubs have been completely conned into parting with real money for players who just don't adapt to English Football, like Aquilini and some of the trash Arsenal have signed. English league football is a world apart and it's not easy to adapt to for some.
  21. Wouldn't be surprised, doesn't seem to be an integral part of Reading's first team plans and wants to play football. Weren't we told "to come and get me" last March as well? Perhaps that's just my interpretation of Derry's sales pitch though.
  22. Secret Squirrel strikes again. It was an absolute no-brainer,we could even have signed them both.
  23. Cannot believe how the 4 seasons are totally confused these last 12 months,we had January and February's climate last October and November, from mid-March to mid May it was like June,July and August with temperatures in the 80s most of the time, we had 40 or 50 days wth little or no rain insomuch that 2/3 of the country was in a drought situation and farmers were making hay in May and there isn't enough cattle feed to go round.then over the last 48 hours we've had monsoon like rains and the quantity of rainfall we've had in the last 24 hours must be equivalent to an entire spring's. One sometimes wonders if a year is in fact 12 calendar months and not 11and a half and if we haven't got out of synchronisation or something. As researchers have just proved Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principal isn't quite right perhaps we need to look at the length of a year as well
  24. In France unemployed persons and those from big families always get big discounts as well. Families of say 8 only pay about half of the full whack for everything, most clubs offer a sort of third child free scheme and usually "chomeurs or demandeurs d'emploi" as you have to say to be politically correct nowadays are half price as well. Doesn't matter if you're actually looking for a job, you could be a stay at home dad but as long as you're registered at the Pôle Emploi you're entitled to discounts on everything.
  25. doubt it,at that stage of life you're probably too hooked on football to abandon a team you've supported for 40+ years. Most 60-64 year olds could and will find the extra money, doesn't stop them being hacked off though, still they've probably seen prices at this level before and lived with it. Anyone got any sort of idea of the number of 60/64s amongst the 13000 or so ST holders? I bet it's a big packet, if it was an insignificant number I really don't think the club would have done this or made it a new buyers only thing.
