Millwall and Burnley plotting swoop for Saints' Seaborne
Window Cleaner replied to Wes Tender's topic in The Saints
I'd say he's a bit clumsy for a NPC defender, given away a couple of penalties like that. The one at Tranmere being a golden example, made it look too valid by sticking his arm under the opponents chin, bloke only has to go down like a sack of sh*te and the ref will blow. He's done it again since. plus I'm not sure his use of the ball is what NA wants to see, then again neither is that of Jaidi most of the time. -
same story as was doing the rounds in January then, think it was linked to an imprending sale of the club at that time.

If you believe what you read in the papers then Chamberlain senior seems to be desperate for a "big club" to buy Ox-C, trouble is I'm not at all convinced that any of them will be keen to part with the full asking price in one lump, doesn't happen all that often in today's football, not for sums like that for such a young player from a lower level. You may well read that X FC have agreed a transfer with Y Utd for a player at 15 million £ but it must be rare nowadays that all the money changes hands at once.

From reading the original article on the OS it's fairly clear to me that Dale Stephens was ever only a stop-gap loan signing because Morgan was going to be out for a couple of months, Gobern had rather stupidly earned himself a 3 match suspension and Chaplow, who'd also had a couple of injury problems, and Deano both had a lot of cards to their respective names and were more than likely to get more because it seems to be a pre-requisite for CMs in League 1 where most of the opposition possess 5' 2" ginger rotweillers to be tamed. I can't see why so many people have attached so much importance to this "signing" it was a very temporary measure and nothing else.

Roll call of non Saints fans who use this forum
Window Cleaner replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Saints
And why would that be ? just of of interest. Surely you'd be able to get at least a couple of tickets over a season,Wigan or Bolton away that sort of thing. -
Perhaps we could have an anonymous poll/sondage with types of ST bought, not individual stands or anything just the main categories, Senior, was Senior now adult, Family,Adult,Student etc. Then we could get a sample of exactly what percentage of age groups make up the spectrum of Saints core support.

Aren't all of these "bids" already in the daily newspapers ? Don't have to be a recipient of inside knowledge to read the Sun and the Mirror really. When I was a paper boy in St Denys I was ITK insomuch as I got to read all the back pages before anyone else. In fact it developped my speed reading skills, I'd read all the back pages before I'd done half of my round.

Well you have to look at it closely unless you're sure that you'll be attending 90% or so of the home games . It would seem that many people like to have their ST because they like sitting in the same seat with the same people all of the time, that's quite a recent development in Football I think. The thing that makes individual game tickets really unattractive is the £3 booking fee or the £2 matchday supplement,if you can get round those by being able to go to the stadium or the store in advance then individual match tickets aren't such a bad idea if you're likely to miss 4 games and have no-one to take on your ST on those occasions.Last season as away tickets were sometimes a bit short in supply then being a ST holder gave you an advantage but this season I can only think of Brighton and Pompey as being cases where demand may exceede supply.
-
Is that not what they've done? Along with correcting the number of 60-64s paying a really low rate for their football and profiting from ST holder status all the same.Obviously there are cases that will cause genuine hardship but as has been said before there are a lot of 60 year olds with a lot of money at their disposal.
-
It just goes to prove how many of our ST holders are(or were) on concessionary rates. Probably why the club's income has always seemed to be quite low compared to attendance figures. The club have obviously noticed this and have corrected it to their liking.
-
I'd wager we won't be far off of 16000 STs though.
-
and paying for the priviledge of course.
-
You get a new one on the never never from the Gas Board (or SEB) just like anyone else. I bought a fridge/freezer from SE once, they just put it on my quarterly bill for a few quarters,8 if I remember rightly.
-
Well I'd have thought that the most obvious one was to get all the kids on cheaper or free STs into the Family Stand to avoid them taking up prime seats in the other stands for free. Another one is to encourage the U11s to go to games with their parents to build up future support which is laudable. On the installment plan if you go down that road and then can't make the other payments for some reason or other you get regally shafted and to the club, it's just as if you'd paid full whacky for the games you'd be allowed to attend,so if you can't meet the subsequent payments then you'd best abstain.I know there won't be many who don't meet the committment but if you have any doubt about the Sept/Oct/Nov payments at all it really isn't a good idea.Half the money plus a fee for 1/3 or the season's games really needs a "raison d'être" in my opinion.
-
But as you have to pay an initial 50% to get the tickets for the first 8 games no electronic system is needed really, if you don't pay you don't get any more tickets. It's a win:win situation for the club really as they always have games in hand over the payment progression. It's not a never never scheme at all, in fact with the handling fee it's hardly worth the effort as you have to pay largely in advance anyway.
-
would not make one iota of difference if the money was attractive. Owen is an Everton fan isn't he, has he ever played for them ?nope Liverpool and Man U yes.
-
I hadn't realised that we had a 2 point deduction at the start of this season's T20 because of a bad pitch last season. Another thing to grind us down then.So even though we've played 1 and won 1 we're still on 0 points.
-
Although they still have parachute payments to back up that arguement I suppose. As Cork has been there for nigh on 18 months they well may get to keep him because I don't see us offering him more money than Burnley. I just can't see that NC is going to get carried away on the stupid salary wagon as of yet. Cork will probably want 20K and he won't get it from us,not while we have key players on less than 10 a week.
-
I didn't know that, thought he was just there last season.
-
Wouldn't doubt it but whether he's up to the Prem remains to be seen as with all players never having played at that level before. I'll be interested to see how Monk and Dyer get on with Swansea as well.

Aren't they hanged in Malaysia?or is that Thailand.

Who Are Southampton's Biggest Threat Next Season?
Window Cleaner replied to Deano6's topic in The Saints
West Ham. -
The T20 win was obviously handy but on the Champoinship front we're in desperate straights with Worcs getting a win and all that.I think we now need a couple of wins to even move back into contention to avoid the drop. Still with Lumb and Adams opening the batting again it's better news.I suppose at the end of the day it makes little difference wheter you're in Div 1 or Div 2 in County Cricket.Less travelling I because you don't have to go to Durham,Yorks and Lancs.

And at the lesbo bash what would happen to the other 21 cans then?? You've got the social events the wrong way round haven't you?
-
Good start,3 wickets for Dimi but now the spinners are getting smashed.
